It's amazing how some RS have fulfilled all their pre orders and selling to the public and other stores couldn't get the four PO they had the RS I went to was a iphone store and he was positive I would get it at launch. I just bought a case and a screen protector with the gift card.

Just emailed help@radioshack.
lets see what happens!

I was told by them that I had to go to the store to get a refund after they had authorized it. I called the store and I'm waiting to see what happens. The guy at the store was surprised that I was able to get a phone from the Apple Store so fast.

That's what's driving me crazy too. My store received ONE phone, unless they were lying to me but still, only one freakin phone.

Radio Shack is one of the biggest secrets to getting an iPhone 5. I checked around the Bay Area Yesterday and there were at least half a dozen available. Maybe it's perhaps it's mainly for Verizon, but I was still surprised.

I bought one outright for $699+tax for my cousin in China.

my story so far...

I put my preorder in on monday the 17th (for a 16gb AT&T phone) asking if i would receive the phone on that coming friday. The closest thing I came to a solid answer was something on the lines of "well, we should be getting them friday, and if we do we'll call you..." (after paying the $50 PO)

friday rolls around and I dont hear from them. I call them up around noontime and asking if they got they've got them in yet and I get the response "no, not yet, we'll call you when we do" being a fairly passive guy I put the trust in RS and figured it was a busy day for every store selling iphones.

Saturday, No call. Sunday, No Call.

I give them a call monday and ask more sternly "when are you guys getting the phones in?" with a response "well, we got one in last friday and you're next on the list" which put me at ease thinking it was only a matter of time now.

Tuesday, no call. I ring them up, and now I'm getting "no later than thursday" (the 27th)

today I call up, and again get the "no we havent gotten them yet" response. I then ask for the manager, and ask what the deal was. He tells me "we havent finished opening inventory yet, could you call back in 30 minutes?" which I do. Once I get him back on the line I procede to not yell at him, but the whole PO process. He tells me, "its looking good for the shipment tomorrow"
and if it doesn't get there tomorrow, he will locate a phone for me at another RS and have it shipped there for either friday or saturday.

I dont think RS is 100% to blame in the clusterf*ck, but I sure as hell wont be going back there anytime soon.

I'll let you know how everything turns out...

I just went in to use the gift card because I was buying a case anyway. He said they received one phone on launch day and it wasn't even one they preordered. It's the same ol song and dance tomorrow, tomorrow. I just couldn't deal with uncertainty. Good thing Walmart had a bunch to my surprise. I just don't get how RS can be so silent about it. I feel as if it was a gimic. They figured some would get it right away and of the ones that didn't would come back and buy cases with the gift card.

The RS I PO from says they still have to wait three days to sell my phone. Wonder if he ll even call me knowing I have one already. I did tell him if there is anything I can do to release the phone so he can sell it I will. It's so random which places have them. I went to a Walmart in a very small town outside of Boston and they had had a bunch even after selling 40 and my RS got one on launch day. I don't get it

Which walmart outside of Boston? I too have been screwed by RS. I am supposedly third on the list for the 32gig AT&T and reserved on friday. This is obviously a scam by RS. If someone screwed up with the ordering and they do not know when they will receive them they should refund the gift cards. I will never step foot in a RS again.

Rayham it's more like 40 min or so I think I'm new to New England I would call them

----------

Supposedly someone wrote before that on twitter they did say they were refunding gift cards look above for the link. I think he sold mine to his buddy. But it's clearly a scam for people to buy iphone accessories knowing it may take a month to get it. Every store tells yiu different things. I called my store pretending to be a customer and they said all the iphone pO were all in a d they were waiting for more stock. So he was either lieing to sell more gift cards or they sold mine and were making me wait till they got more which clearly could take a month or so before all stores are stocked with them

So i went to RS at 4pm after work today to pick up my iphone 5.

I had a pre order with verizon set to ship on 10/19 but of course didnt want to wait that long. I just decided to check around at local RS/target/walmart stores to see what they would say about getting an iphone. The first place i called was the RS right down the street from work and the girl said she thought they were getting a black one today, told her i was looking for white and she said she thought they could get one for me, she took my number and said to check back with them. I waited a couple hours and called back and the girl gave the phone to the store manager. He had called around for a white iphone and found one at a store that was maybe 25 minutes away from his store. The store manager drove to the store and picked the phone up and brought it to his store. At that point i went online and canceled my pre order with verizon and waited a couple minutes and my upgrade eligibility was back(didnt think it would be that fast)!

I used my 2nd lines upgrade (dumb phone) activated the phone, she didnt even charge the $30 upgrade fee that verizon did for my pre order! I went home and re activated the dumb phone and put the iPhone on my line which let me keep unlimited data also.

Crazy how it worked out because i wasn't expecting to get one until mid october. I would just suggest to call different stores in your area to see what they say, or try reserving through apples website after 10pm.

So I placed a pre-order with RS on September 17th and have had the exact same experience as everyone else on this thread. Basically they have been giving me the constant run-around on when the phone is getting in, never giving me details, etc. etc. etc.

Anyway, I found an iPhone that I wanted at another RS location and when I went there to purchase it I was told I was unable to buy the phone there at the subsidized price because my upgrade had already been taken from my previous order. I called Verizon to see if I could cancel my order, and free up my eligible upgrade, and they can't even see that my order exists in their system from RS. I was told that I needed to cancel my order with RS, in person, at the store I ordered.

So I go into the store today to cancel my pre-order, and I am told that if I cancel my pre-order I will lose my upgrade as my phone upgrade is assigned to the specific device that I ordered. Is this even true? If not, where do I actually cancel my pre-order? Has anyone else been told this?

Thanks.

Crazy how some RS are good and some are terrible. I had a bad experience with the one I went to. He would just BS me the whole time. I will never do business in that particular store agin

Wow I would be furious. Like you I put a pre order in on the 17 at a RS. I have two lines and my upgrade was for the secondary line. I only gave them my primary line, but the PO never affected my upgrade status. It always showed I had a upgrade for the second line. I found one at a Walmart and had no trouble upgrading at all. I went in the store to use my gift card and told him he can use the phone for someone else. He says they still have to call me and wait three days to sell it. He said that he had another customer do that too. I think RS is playing. Games with you because they knew you had a PO from a different store. I would try a non RS and I bet you won't have a problem. As long as you don't sign a contract you can't loose your upgrade. If Verizon says your good I would take your business elsewhere unless they get it first of coarse

I just went on Apple.com to see if there is indeed an order outstanding for the line I am trying to upgrade and I got the following message:

Important information about your order.

The phone number you provided already has an iPhone reservation or open order associated with it. If you have a reservation, please follow the instructions that were emailed to you. If you have an open order, you will need to cancel it to purchase a new iPhone for this number.

I have already tried to call Verizon to cancel the pre-order, but apparently they say they can't even seen the order in their system. Does that even make sense? Where do I go to cancel this thing?

When you pre ordered it at RS you only put a deposit down, did you sign anything? That makes me think maybe the guy I PO never put it in the system I prob would have never gotten it. I look at apple yesterday and it said my upgrade was available. I ask the guy if he needed the line I was upgrading and he said no not now. I wondered if he even ordered my phone at all or was just planning on calling me when he got them in stock. Like I said he kept BS me bad I didn't know what to believe. Good luck at least it may come by the end of the week, looks like something could have been processed.

yes, they told me i cannot go anywhere else to order this phone i have to stick with them because the upgrade is gone now. Idk if its true.. but I literally live 1.5 hours from a walmart or best buy.. probably 5hrs from an apple store, so i have no other option anyway :\

I hope everybody here is going to the Apple site at 10pm ET and ordering their phone there for next day pick up at the Apple store.I did that last year after waiting almost 3 weeks for my 4S.I was scheduled for next day pick up and 2 hours later,I finally get a shipping notice from AT&T so I cancelled it the Apple store order and then received a cancellation e-mail.
I suggest going on at exactly 10pm as the phones go quickly. The entire order takes about 90 secs.

Wow wonder If I was getting screwed by my manager I had no problem going anywhere else. That could be a reason I never got mine in. Although I gave him my primary lines number which doesn't have an upgrade only my secondary line did. I traded with my. Shows how sneaky some of these stores can be. Since he only had 4 pre orders he may not of put them in cause he may have thought he would get more phones instead of the four pre orders. So odd knew that manager was a idiot he kept giggling everytime I called cause he knew I wouldn't get it for a month or two

Every night at 10pm ET.I checked the last 2 nights and phones were available. When you enter your zip,it lists which stores have the phone from the nearest.Goes until 4 am but doubtful any left at that hour.

oh WOW, I wish I had known about this sooner. Thank you SO much. If I get a phone before the week is up because of this I owe you BIG TIME.

Go to your Apple ID email, do you see an email from apple with your reservation number?

Maybe try to log into your account and view your order. your open order may be there. And you should be able to cancel it.

No thanks necessary.I'm only trying to help folks here get their phones and remember that only goes live a 10pm ET,not sooner.Good luck.
I got my phone as promised on Friday and realize how fortunate I was>I will never deal with RS again.I won't tempt fate twice!

Interesting about the apple order and pick up at the store. I may try this tonight.

As for an update, i called the DM yesterday and left a message. No return call thus far.

Emailed help@radioschack.com - nothing so far.

This company's customer service is horrible.

No seriously, thank you a bunch. I didn't even know this was an option until now. I had planned on waiting another two weeks and now there's a chance I could get one tomorrow. Ill be logged on at 10PM sharp.

You think I could complete the process of picking the phone and checking upgrade eligibility at like 9:58 and keep clicking the "in store pickup" link for those two minutes?

Or would I have to wait and do the whole process at 10.

Maybe this question is just too much lol

I emailed help@radioshack.com 3 time and eventually they had the local store manager call me, and of course he had no info. I wrote them back and let them know I didn't appreciate them having him call instead of someone that knows whats going on.

I'll wait for my phone from them just because I want to trade in my old one, but I'll never do business with them again!
