That's complete BS. By no means do you have to buy accessories. I would be furious if they told me that at their store. Personally, I would contact corporate about that because that is NOT true and they are just trying to get your money to hit the quota for accessories they need to sell because most people would just say "yah, w/e okay ill buy accessories" just so they can get their phones right away.

I tried a RS store that had one Verizon iPhone 5 left, and they would not let me buy it at full retail with credit card. They gave me some lame excuse that it's to prevent scalpers from buying the phones... I said then paying cash would be more beneficial for a scalper than using a credit card, I ended up leaving as the excuses on why they could not sell me the phone started coming out.

Sigh, does anyone know if it's possible to get a refund on those stupid Radio Shack gift cards they made us buy?... I feel like just canceling it and going to a local apple store. I just called and they said they had plenty of iPhone 5's in stock, just a half an hour line.

The sad part is that I preordered the day preordered's opened and I still HAVE NOT received my iPhone 5 >.>

Call the store you per ordered from and get the number for the district manager. I called my local Radio Shack DM and got my refund the same day. I told them the policy was deceiving and he understood.

No,you have to enter your info 1st and then you get 2 options-shipping or in store pick up.Choose in store pickup and enter your zip code and then you'll see which stores have the phone you want.Don't start until 10pm otherwise you may have to start all over and those phones fly away every minute you waste.

No seriously, thank you a bunch. I didn't even know this was an option until now. I had planned on waiting another two weeks and now there's a chance I could get one tomorrow. Ill be logged on at 10PM sharp.

You think I could complete the process of picking the phone and checking upgrade eligibility at like 9:58 and keep clicking the "in store pickup" link for those two minutes?

Or would I have to wait and do the whole process at 10.

Maybe this question is just too much lol

They offered me $200 for my pristine 16g 4S-I laughed and told the manager no thanks.I sold it on the 14th for $360 on craigslist and had plenty of calls. The prices have dropped a bit but you'll still get more selling outright than from RS.

I emailed help@radioshack.com 3 time and eventually they had the local store manager call me, and of course he had no info. I wrote them back and let them know I didn't appreciate them having him call instead of someone that knows whats going on.

I'll wait for my phone from them just because I want to trade in my old one, but I'll never do business with them again!

I walked into Radio Shack 2 days ago to see if they had any, the guy put my name in the computer on the waiting list and said they would call me once they get some in. Today I get the call saying they had 32 gig black in.

I was shocked

Has anyone who lives in a smaller town/city had luck getting theirs yet?

As I've mentioned before I'm in a somewhat small city (pop. 20,000). There is only one RadioShack here and I believe the closest outside of where I'm at is at least an hour. I'm beginning to grow more worried that my store will be left out or receive later shipments especially since they only received one on the initial launch day. Also, since there are no close stores it's not like the manager can just drive to another store to get one for me.

So, has anyone in less densely populated areas had any luck?

wtf is wrong with these people. do they get commission or something?

Yeah they do. When someone starts a contract or add a line they get about $15 bucks. Before it used to be $30, but they changed it. For pre-paid they get around $7 activated or not. Selling accessories do help, but it depends on how much they sell. The target is $30 dollars a customer, but they might have changed that too. Radio Shack pushes there employees to sell attach on phones. Trust me I used to work there and got let go because I didn't push enough accessories. Radio Shack employees can sell all the phones they want, but if there no attachments then it will make your numbers look really bad. It didn't matter to me if I sold accessories or not because I got the commission anyway. All in all you don't have to buy any accessories. Radio Shack just looking for the extra buck.

Thanks to everyone who posted that some of the Radio Shack stores said they are expecting stock today or tomorrow. I live in Charlotte and was hunting for a 16 GB White AT&T iPhone for the past 2 days. Reservation through Apple at 10 PM showed no iPhones (what I wanted) in stock in my 2 local Apple stores. I called around 10 AT&T stores and none of them had received stock after launch day.

After reading this thread, I gave a call to the nearest Radio Shack around 2 PM and to my surprise they had what I was looking for. I asked the guy to hold it for 15 minutes and was able to buy it just like that. The sales guy said that they received just 1 phone today :D (their first shipment after launch day). I guess it does not hurt to call Radio Shack stores around your place; You might be in luck ;)

My Radio Shack is expecting 2 tomorrow (their first shipment). I'm #1 and 2 on the list - fingers crossed.

My experience....

I pre-ordered my iPhone 5 from Radio Shack on Friday September 14th. I was told I would receive it on launch day, so I went ahead and put down the $50 to put me on the list. The day before launch day, I went in to see if they had got mine yet to schedule an appointment to pick it up on launch day. I am on Sprint by the way. He said that they hadn't gotten any Sprint iPhone 5s yet, but were expecting them later that day or throughout launch day. I said alright that sounds great! Then asked "So I will FOR SURE have my Sprint iPhone 5 in my hand tomorrow?" and he said "Yes!" I then left the store. I called the next day and asked if they had my phone yet and the girl that answered the phone hung up on me.. I was then pissed. My mom then called (I am 17) and asked what was up, They talked to her without a problem and said they would have them between Monday September 24th and Wednesday September 26th. You bet your ass I called them every day after school to see if they had my phone. Each day they told me that they would get it the next day. So I then did some research and found several locations in the area that had already gotten 2nd shipments! My mom was already pissed I hadn't gotten my phone yet. So I told my mom about this and she was shocked (along with being more pissed off). I got a text message from her today while in class saying "Whatever you do... DO NOT call Radio Shack! I just tore them up!!" I then asked "Why???" and all she replied was "I got you a phone...." So she told me that she cancelled my PO with RS and that they were going to give her a cash refund for my gift card. So after this HORRIBLE experience, I'm NEVER going through RS again. I can't believe I was dumb enough to trust them in the first place!! But I got my phone thanks to my mom!! :D

I PO a black 32gb AT&T to get it on the 26th. Just received a call that I can come pick it up today!

Through RS's website, there was one store that listed a 32GB AT&T Black IP5 in stock... so I stopped by the next morning. The kid at the counter said "yeah, that one in the back is actually mine..." (as he is wearing the new earbuds...)... He had a few more days to "pick it up"...

I'm thinking RS is not the place to buy.

my roommate got the call before i did, even though i am the one who ordered first from the same exact location. he got the call from a san jose, ca store. i wonder if i will even receive a call today!

How did you find stock through their website?

EDIT: found out how, closest of the phone I want is nearly an hour away. :(

so, so close

Called the local Radio Shack and they said they had a black 64GB in stock. I asked them to hold it and I'd be there in 10 minutes. When I got there, the salesperson said they had a White 64GB phone too and asked if I wanted both. I told her no, just the black one. She got the phone entered all my information in for it, then said hold on I need to call VZ, there's a problem. After she got off the phone, she told me there was a problem with the SIM on that phone and also the white one, and that is probably why they were still on the shelf in the back. I even asked if they could change the SIM, and she said sorry. Man, talk about a long, depressing walk back out to my car. :(

Going to pick up my iPhone today from Grand Central thanks to karmatourer.

After my debacle yesterday via twitter that I posted a page back.

Radio Shack corp called the store told them its not right to do. They gave them my name and told them to hold the phone for me. I was told by radio shack via Twitter to ask for the manager and they are also giving me a $25.00 gift certificate.
