I just posted this...

I called every RadioShack in Chicago-land area and got ONE!
I got my iPhone 5 32Gb black/slate on release date b/c I pre-ordered from AT&T. So since last week, my wife who has the 4s was playing with my phone and she loves the 5! And she regrets not pre-ordering 2 weeks ago. So 2 days ago, Wed- Sept 26, I went to AT&T web site and pre-ordered her the same phone. Site says 14-21 days wait. AT&T, Sprint, Apple, Best Buy..they said 3-4 weeks wait. Crap.

So I went online, look at Radioshack locations on their site maps, and called every one starting from my area Naperville (west) going East to Chicago. No luck. Called every store going south all the way to Matteson.. then headed east all the stores in Indiana (Portage, Munster, Schererville) Still NO luck.

Started calling stores going north along I-290 and I-355.

RadiosShack has 72 stores listed in Chicago-land area.. I already called 38 stores... not stopping..

The 45th store I called in Schaumburg, IL.. while on the phone with the manager.. Fed EX delivery guy came in.. I asked the manager if he can check the box.. he opened it and said with a happy voice " YOU are the Luckiest Man I know! I just got an AT&T iPhone 5 32Gb black that you wanted! And people keeps calling us non-stop everyday to see how soon we are going to get them. I did not know we're getting one in today"

YES! Went there after work yesterday, got the phone, and cancelled my pre-order with AT&T.

Happy Wife = Happy Life

----------

THE PHONE WAS FLAWLESS TOO!!

no wi-fi problems, no scratched, dings, or any marks or scuffs..

just PERFECT!

I know a couple more Radioshack store who has 2 iPhone 5's as of yesterday.

One store on the east side has 2 Verizon iP5.. and one close to O'hare has 1 AT&T 16Gbg black IP5.

Milo.com I used it to find mine it searches local inventory. Worked for me, how I found my iPhone5.

I'm curious, has anyone received a call from RS today saying that their phone was in?

RadioShack is now replying to people's posts on Facebook saying that they are receiving additional shipments this weekend.

Hope that means EVERYONE'S shipments, not just a handful of phones again.

99% positive that means they are only going to fulfill 25% of their initial preorders. lol

Haha, most likely. They've also been posting that stores should be callin customers with updates on their orders. Maybe my store will finally communicate with me!

milo.com is crap

Milo.com I used it to find mine it searches local inventory. Worked for me, how I found my iPhone5.

milo.com is flawed. I used that first and after 4 calls.. no iPhone 5 around my area. Hilariousness! it even says 4 Best Buys around me have it.

Thats why I called every RadioShack until I found my phone.

Can anyone confirm this:

If I do the reservation thing tonight at 10pm with apple and they have one in stock, does that 100% guarantee I will get a phone the next day? My main concern is that I do that online, then it says "your phone will arrive in 20 days" lol and then 1 day later RS calls me and says my PO is in but now I can't get it from them because I already went through apple.

Well, After one week of waiting, RS just called me and my phone has arrived!!!!

About to go pick it up now. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

EDIT: 16Gb Black ATT

Yes. Once you pay for it, its yours. I went to the store this morning and the box had a sticker with my name on it.

Heh, called today to get their district managers phone number, then asked when they're getting shipments and the guy said today.

*crosses fingers and toes*

Got a call from RS yesterday after lunch, 32g AT&T was in. Picked it up yesterday afternoon. It was flawless as well. Beautiful device. Tough wait but worth it.

Just got my black i5. Brought it home. Found white 2-3 white nicks on the sides. X(

I got one from Apple online reservation on Wednesday. Call the DM this morning and got my $50 gift card refunded. However, when i went into the store to get the refund, my phone actually came in. I cancelled the preorder since I already got one. If anyone is interested, the 23rd street radioshack in NYC might have a 16GB black AT&T available.

Finally!!

I preordered my phone last Monday. I was told on three separate occasions that I would have it on the 21st. I was also told that I would receive a phone call saying that my iphone 5 was in on the Thursday. They left a voicemail, and low and behold- no iphone 5!! I have been calling them everyday since (told that I was next on the list). I even went to the store to check on the order status. It's to the point that they knew my name before I brought it up on Wednesday. After reading people's posts on here, I up'D things up a notch. Contacted the DM via email. I waited all day for a return email. At 4pm, my store called me and said that "my phone was not scheduled to ship until the 5th of October". However, they located the phone about twenty minutes away and asked if I wanted to go get it. They had 4 spare phones. I have my iphone, and I am happy... :apple::apple:

I havent gotten a call from Radio Shack yet and Im not going to cancel. Ill let them get the phone in and hopefully someone else will get lucky since I already got mine through apple.

What is the farthest anyone has gone to get to a store that actually has them? There's a RadioShack about an hour away from me that, according to the RS website, has the phone I want in stock. I'm debating whether or not it would be worth it to drive there tomorrow.

Of course, I haven't called the local Verizon store in a few days so that's still an option, seeing if they have more stock. This is just so frustrating cause I'm sure if I decided to drive to the other store, mine would call me and say mine's in as soon as I got there.

Also, still waiting on a call from my store (who hasn't called me ONCE) to "update me on my order."

----------

Also, keep forgetting to ask this but, have carrier stores (Verizon, ATT, Sprint) been affected by the phone shortages? I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my time by continuing to check with my Verizon store.

Yea, I'd go somewhere an hour away. Once you have your phone and you wont have to worry and wait anyone, you'll know it was worth it.

This is true. I still have some checking around to do (haven't called the Verizon store in a while) and I would definitely call the store an hour away to see if they'd hold one for me. I know I've mentioned this a million times but it pisses me off so much that a store that is only an hour away seems to have them in stock, but mine does not, especially when this store is in a city SMALLER than the one I'm in!

Are you price-matching? Their price is $50 ABOVE retail if you are buying just the device. Instead of $649 they're charging $699.

I'm buying with the upgrade and was told at RadioShack that I would pay the remainder of the $199 when I went to pick my phone up. Haven't really been worried about price differences.

----------

Update:
Just called my local Verizon store to see if they had received any yet and they aren't expecting to get any more until the 26th (UGHHH).

So I called the RS store that's an hour away that the website said had the phone I'm needing and the guy told me they don't have any. The website's stock checker is either messed up or the phone/s they have are preorder ones. So I guess I'm still out of luck until my store gets mine.

I got suckered into that BS. I called my RS a few days ago, and they had one left (I've had mine since the 21st, pre-ordered w/ Verizon), but my wife wanted one. Ended up having to pay 699.99 instead of 649.99, even though when I called to see if they had any, I was told it'd be 650 if I was paying retail. Now I'm batting it out to see if they'll price match, but they're telling me I need to present an ad that shows the 649.99, PLUS the store that has the ad, has to have the item in stock.

Radio Shack sucks.

----------

Just out of curiosity, does Apple set price rules for third-party retailers such Best Buy, Radioshack, etc? Verizon was lacking on the color/model I wanted, so I hit up Radioshack this morning for a 16GB Verizon iPhone 5.

Since I don't have an upgrade until next year, I expected to pay $649, but was charged $699. I was met with the response of 'well that's what we pay Apple for them' which sounds fishy and more like price gouging.

Anyways, it was a $50 difference and I was just seeing what people had to say.

I was told, when I called, that it'd be 649.99, when I got there, I was charged, instead, 699.99. They kept pushing Apple Care, and trying to get me to buy accessories, too. Had it not been for them only having one left, and me not wanting to wait (since it was for my wife), I'd have just left.

I contacted their customer service, and was told that they'd match it if I can provide an ad with the 649.99 price, but the place(s) selling it for 649.99 must have it in stock too. I told them that nobody has them in their ads, as they can't even keep them on the shelves (and it seems from what I've read, Radio Shack is the worst with it so far). They just suck.

When I went to the AT&T store on Tuesday morning to return the extra one I received, the manager told me she expected a long dry spell-her words.

My nearest Apple store is just over an hour away and I'd drive there in a heartbeat if it meant getting one after waiting this long.Same with the 4S last year.
