Radio Shack iPhone 5 pre order

Apple store will not sell to walk-ins,only online order for in store p/u,like yourself.

I didnt cancel my RS gift card. I figured it wasnt their fault. I ended up getting a good case and a really good screen cover. I thought about getting an Amazon gift card but then it would have meant I had to wait longer for a case and I wanted to protect my phone as soon as possible.


I also havent canceled my RS preorder though. I want to see how long it will take for them to get their orders in.

still no phone for me. P/O a 32GB AT&T 5. Called the store Friday and they received the 16GB but no 32GB. Manager said they would possibly receive the 32s today (Monday). We'll see though...
 
I sent an email to RadioShack the other day about the lack of communication between the store and me and just received a call from my store apologizing.

The manager also told me that with the next shipment they should actually end up having some idea of when it would be coming. I definitely feel a little better but also sort of bad because there really wasn't anything for them to tell me.
 
Radio Shack is not the most reliable bunch of people. I called a few places and got varying answers from:

- we dont have any, dont know could be tomorrow could be December just taking names.
- we get them by the next day (next day rolls around no stock same answer),
- to yes we have them in stock all models. Ok I will be down. Ok we are accepting $50.00 deposit and that means you will get one when some come in.

Same here. They did call on both my pre-orders and left a message saying that if I was interested in pre-ordering the iPhone 5 I could come in and order it if I placed a $50 deposit on a giftcard. They said they might have some verizon iphones available.

Um I already pre-ordered two for ATT on the first day and already have 2 gift cards. I bought mine from the apple store on launch day. Radioshack is so funny how awful they are.
 
Radio shack should not be taking PO for iphone launches. They should clearly state it take 3-4 weeks to get. It so crazy how they do inventory. Some got all the pre orders and them some and others got none. Never again ill wait in line next time
 
I talked to the store manager at the RS In Fayetteville ,Nc she told me that my 32gig will be there Oct 5 so let another countdown begin
 
I talked to a DM last Friday about my 32gb PO, and he said that they should have shipment coming in Oct.5! I guess I can hold out for another week!

In their defense, there was a shortage of iPhones. They did not know it would take so long to get it because honestly the shortage didn't come to light until the number of preordered phones from Apple, carriers, etc. was discovered.
 
I have to disagree somewhat.The AT&T stores near me had enough stock to satisfy almost everyone who waited overnight,as did all the Apple stores.
Verizon and Sprint had plenty in my area.
We were all told that if you preorder,you'll get a phone on the 21st which was an out and out lie.Only a very small percentage got theirs on the 21st,
including me.I won't tempt fate again next year with RS.Nearby Walmarts have received none.I understand Best Buy didn't receive all they were expecting either but that has been the case since they began to take preorders a few year ago.Basically RS took orders and HOPED they would receive all the phones to safisfy those orders.

I used the RS website to see if any if area showing stock. one was showing it had in stock. i called up they say they have 32 sprint phones in stock, but they are all reserved for the people who ordered, says he expects most to be filled by end of this week and start of next. i was hoping id get lucky and just walk in and pick one up with out ordering.

The shortage is still being felt by carriers as well as RS. I am not trying to say that RS is at no fault because they did make false promises to certain people. Right now it seems to me that they, as well as carrier stores, are being shorted by Apple considering the fact that Apple stores seem to have stock while my local RS received only one phone. My local Verizon store has no phones either and don't expect to get any until the 26th.

Yes, RS has handled this poorly but I think there was some lack of communication with them from Apple.

Possibly lack of communication but if you ever worked in retail sales or low end sales of any kind, the mindset is always to get the order first, with a monetary commitment, worry about delivering product later.
Cash refund is also unheard of.

Crazy how stock in stores can vary from region to region. There a couple of walmarts that had the iphone 5 near me. That's where I got mine. You would think corporate headquarters would do a better job evenly distributing their volume. You don't see Apple att and the other carrier stores leaving stores with nothing on launch day. Communication is key no one like to be lied to day in and day out. At least best buy addressed PO customers on launch day about delays till oct 5. I bet RS knew that was mostly likely happening to the PO that weren't delivered on launch day and just failed to deliver the truth
 
Woman at the store told me Oct 5th. I'm not going to pre-order though -- just going to go in at 10am and hope for the best.
 
Last I checked my order # through VZW, it was expected to ship by the 5th. The manager at my store did tell me that she would call when they knew what day they should be arriving but I've had no new call yet.

I've been trying to check it again through VZW but the order status page seems to be messed up.
 
Was finally able to get my order status checked on Verizon and my expected ship date is today but it still says that my order has been sent for processing.

Here's hoping it actually did ship today or will in the next couple of days.
 
Where is my iPhone 5? Who knows!

I walked in to my local Radio Shack on Friday 9/14 at about 11am and the manager there assured me that since last year they had iPhone 4S's on launch date, that they would again and that I would have mine. They took my $50 and I left. Then on 9/20 at about 7pm they called me to tell me that I wont have a phone on Friday, but that their shipment is coming Saturday and I would have it then. They called me Saturday and said it didn't arrive, but it should be here Sunday or Monday (I thought in my mind, nobody delivers on Sunday! but I let that one go, knowing it wouldn't put the phone in my hand sooner). It's now 10/3 and I called them, they said they still haven't received their phones.

Bummer for me, I should have just gone to AT&T Store.
