Best Buy is so awful! There's a reason their stores are closing all over
the country.

Well I'd get like $40 back in reward zone just for that so that's why I wanted to try and get it there.
I'm getting $40 back from my credit card! (2% cash back on Apple.com orders!)
BB can suck my big black.... Large....heavy Lenovo think pad. Ew. (I don't really have one, but there are three of them where I work)
Can anyone shed light on whether or not Best Buy is now doing the $100 off coupon AND the education price match or if its one or the other?

did the deal expire?
My local best buy told me that the deal expired this Monday when I went in to purchase the RMBP. I only got the 200 for student discount off without the $150 discount. Can someone please confirm that it expired? Might return and get it at Apple just to get the extra 100$ giftcard.

Success! I used the link provided at the beginning of this thread to search Best Buy's inventory.
I've used the link several times with stores in every area reporting 'Out of Stock.'
Today however, I did the search again, and two stores said 'Coming Soon' while all the rest still said they were out of stock. On a whim, I decided to call the closer one of the two stores, and asked them to check their inventory for me. Sure enough, the guy said that there were "3 in the system" he then told me "hold on, let me go see if I can get my eyes on them, they might already be in some customers cart, walking around the store." 5 minutes later, he came back on the phone and said "Ok, I got you the last one, one of them was already sold (within the 5 minutes) and the other is going on display, so I got this one for you, and I have it in my hands right now."
Mind you, I live an hour away, but I asked him to hold it for me and he said he would. An hour later, It was there waiting for me in all it's glory!

Honestly, I didn't ask. When I asked if they did the education discount she said "We do whatever Apple is doing."
I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or not though, so I'll jump through those hoops later, if I decide on it!
Two days ago, I tried to buy an Air at a different Best Buy and they tried to make me sign up for their education email thing, and have me print out the coupon that it sent me ($100 off). She said that they had literally just received the new info in about how discounts would be processed.
Honestly, my plan was to buy the Retina wherever I could find it, for whatever it cost and to just work out the price issues later.
Do you think they will at least match the $100 gift card with the $200 off deal at the same time like apple does? The store I purchased mine had me "OMS" as they said. I had to pay for my new laptop before they even got it in store...

Doesn't Best Buy have a 30 Day price matching policy? Maybe you could try pulling that card if you guys are unable to get the discount at first try. Just a thought.
I think they're much more likley to do it if they haven't had 45 people try to get this deal, with everyone making a huge scene about it.
Probably depends on your location more than anything, but I've seen someone else on here, having the issue of getting both deals, contact the corporate office and they resolved it for him.
Might be worth a try. I'm not sure what OMS is, but my local store (NOT the store I ended up purchasing from) put me on a pre-order list and didn't charge me and said they'd email me when they came in... course I still haven't gotten that email!

wait, it's a BEST BUY gift card? I thought it was an apple itunes store gift card.
30 day return, 60 now if you're a Rewards member. They'll price match in that window. That's been my experience. It's also been my experience though that no two BB's treat things the same.
My Best Buy wouldn't do it. They told me I had to go to some website and sign up with my edu email address. The college here doens't give students email address so it's impossible for me to do so and it was a $100 off a MacBook or iMac. When I called earlier in the day the lady I spoke with knew exactly about the $150 Best Buy gift card. Seems that they don't know what they are doing at mine.
