Funniest post of the day. Bravo. :D

What I can't understand is, why bash a guy when he's not getting the advertised features?

I haven't seen too many people bash people legitimately discussing technical issues with any Apple products, but with thread titles like "Steve Jobs LIES!!!!" and FATAL FLAW CONFIRMED!!!!!! and other ridiculous, sensationalist exaggerated proclamations (Apple is evil, they don't care about their customers, they are arrogant, their CS is the worst), all fly in the face of the facts...sure Apple products have had some technical issues and some of them were fairly significant, but that is normal when a company is selling tens of millions of a product...the fact is Apple does well because most of their products work very well and most people that buy them have very few issues and when they do, Apple has consistently been rated tops in customer service...No, they cannot please everybody all the time...yes, some products will have hardware or software issues but when people proclaim that this is the "norm" for Apple it is going to be challenged as it simply is not factual...

There are extremes on both sides of this issue..Everything Apple sux, or everything Apple is perfect, but the truth is, Apple has been the most successful tech company in it's field for several years now because "most" of the record amount of Apple customers like their products...

But in this case in my thread, I am stating that I am tired of their excuses. Although I agree that it may not be factual when people are stating their opinions on apples customer service, it is factual that apple has not, and doesn't have a clear plan to fix any of those issues. The proposed issue with showing too many bars on the iPhone 4 does not explain full signal degradation due to bridging the antennas. When I read apples reception issue response, I thought it was a joke. There has been no mention from apple about fixing the proximity or iMovie app issue. When they fix these issues, I will be happy to retract some of my opinions. In the meantime, I will keep reentering my password for wifi on my iPad for the wifi fix they never pushed out.

The phone has been out for 10 days and that includes a three day holiday weekend and even Apple was surprised by the sheer amount of people wanting to buy the phone (a record number by a LONG shot)...I understand how frustrating it can be to have a defective unit, or software that doesn't preform properly, but geeeez, give them a a little time to try and figure it out...the "death grip" issue has been GREATLY exaggerated as a "serious issue" as although several people have posted that they can "purposely" force the phone to lose signal, not many have had "real use" issues dropping signal otherwise we be seeing huge lines of people retuning the phone...
Give them a few weeks to figure things out...if they don't THEN you can go postal...:)

BS. Not sure who coined it the "death grip" but it's far from it. It's holding the phone during NORMAL use that causes the phone to loose complete signal. It is NOT "greatly exaggerated". It's a BIG problem that needs to be addressed. Making excuses is not a resolution. Apple could at the very least, ACKNOWLEDGE it's customers and let them know they are listening and are aware of our complaints. Etc etc. They have not even done that. Instead, they have danced around the issue and are addressing an issue that has nothing to do with the REAL problem and are passing it off as a fix. BS!

So, you are saying that MOST people have terrible reception issues and are dropping most of their calls and are just hating Apple and their iP4's?
"Some" people (hardly most) have reported serious call dropping issues due to the antenna design...Apple has stated they will help those that are having an issue. They have offered full 100% refunds with no restocking fee for 30 days, some have had their phone exchanged already...it's been ten days (three of which have been over a holiday weekend)...geeeezus!
I understand those that are having serious issues are frustrated...I would be too, but let's not get carried away with it being EVERYBODY'S phone is having SERIOUS issues...that is simply not true...

I think you misunderstand me. See I'm not part if the gimmie gimmie now generation. I can wait a little bit, but I want to know I'm not waiting in vain. They tell me the fix should be the end of July, ok. Right now I have wishes in one hand and something stinky in the other.

As I stated, Apple has shown in the past that they will accomodate those with issues...they didn't get where they are by constantly screwing over customers...
Yes, some people can never be pleased, but "most" people will be if Apple is true to past form...
They have record amounts of returning and new customers each year and they are consistently rated tops in customer service...
That doesn't happen by accident...
Are they "perfect" hell no! But, I have owned dozens of Apple products over the past 20 years and I am continually amazed at the outstanding level of customer service they provide whenever I have had issues (and I have) with Apple products...

Please explain to me how you came to your conclusion from my post?

I never said anything you post. You did. Never said "everybody's phone is having serious issues" either.

Thanks for the heads up though. Please stop using the "holiday weekend" as an excuse. Lol. How is it different from any other weekend? Minus Monday? Lol.

No sense but thanks for trying :)

You are editing an HD video on something you can fit in your pocket.

I don't know what else you could possibly want here.

To finish?

Here's another July 4th video posted that was created and edited on their iPhone and I fast forwarded through a lot of it but it seems there are more than 10 photos.

FWIW: I still think you have a legitimate complaint and thanks for sticking with this thread despite the unwarranted criticism. It's too bad we (the forum) can't just discuss an issue without accusations and name calling.

So spent two hours tonight editing a movie in iMovie to have my phone reboot and crash everytime I tried to export a movie in iMovie. Seems that you can't have too many images in your movie. WTF apple!?

As you see the resolution offered is to put less images or export in a lower resolution. Great! I have a phone with reception problem and I'm supposed hold the phone differently. The chitty proximity censor makes me hang up calls or put people on mute and there is no response from apple on this. The back glass seem fragile as chit. NOW I can't even use their advertised iMovies with more than 10 pics or it crashes. They vow to let me include less pics as a resolution.

Getting real tired of apples crap with this iPhone 4. Before anyone else says it, yeah, I might be taking this beautiful paper weight back for a refund. This is getting old. Where is the old apple that gave a chit about their customers and quality of their product?

Getting really tired of your whining.....(take the phone back)

the phone has been out for only 10 days and the alleged "bar dropping issue was only reported after day 3...so they have had only that long to deal with it and one of those days is a holiday and two were Sundays' so , in fact, they've only had 5 days...how hard is that to fathom...

You posted "BS" when I stated that the "signal bar dropping issue" was NOT affecting most people's real life use (as most have admitted even though the can MAKE the signal drop, they are NOT dropping calls) you ranted on to insist that the fact that the phone drops signal bars, but not calls is a "serious issue that is not exaggerated"...
LOL...who cares if the useless analog signal bars drop when the phone is on your ear, you cannot even see the bars (not that they matter in a Digital phone anyway) and the calls are not dropping...utter nonsense...LOL
I've mentioned several times that for the small percentage that have reported serious dropped calls, THAT issue is very real...fortunately, that isn't "most" people's experience...

Couldn't see the video on my iPad. :(. I did get my movie finally done. I just had to go through and take images out and make movies with them to be brought back in. I still think iMovie is a pretty cool program. I'm amazed at what can be done on a phone and it's awesome to have the ability to throw some things together. :)

There doesn't seem to be a magic number of pics included that will cause the export to fail. Seems it can be 10 or it could be 20 before it fails. Not really sure what the variable is that is causing the crash. Mine would not export at ANY resolution.

Here's a thread about this on apple support:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2479632&start=60&tstart=0

Today there is an update to iMovie (1.0.1) and one of the items is "Improved reliability when exporting movies containing photos."

I say update and try again! :)

He's sick of their excuses god dammit!!! :p :D they don't deserve the time to fix the problem before he moans!

When you pay for my phones, then you can tell me to stop whining. Until then feel free to exit this thread as I'm sure you had enough of a heads up to it's contents by the title alone.

The work around is to make another project with only ten images and make it a video and then insert that video into your main project. Just do that until your eyes bleed and your done.

Btw, apple, still waiting on my wifi fix for the iPad. Just in case anyone is listening.

Yes, I have two iPhones, one for the mrs and me, both are probably going back. I don't expect perfection. My iPad is a little yellow on the bottom half of the screen but not enough to really notice. I can deal with some flaws.... This chit on the other hand is getting overbearing.

I agree with ya. Certain people on this forum do nothing but criticize anyone with a legitimate complaint.

Heh. Apple is the worst company every. Only responding to bugs in under two weeks. Booo!!!!

Really getting tired of apples excuses.......

As much as we are of all this non-stop whining?

Yea really whats a matter with you?!

You should be kissing Jobs feet for LETTING you pay 3X the going rate for a PC and phone that works sometimes! Jeez quit whining, it's not like these are marketed as rock solid, high quality, user friendly devices!

Let me explain why I'm mad over a stupid $5 app okay?

This is a snow ball effect for ME. I am tired of it.

  • iPad wifi problem- apples response? No update in almost 3 months
  • iPhone 4 reception issue- your holding it wrong. Oh we will fix how many bars are displayed in an update.
  • iPhone 4 proximity issue- no response on this one yet.
  • iPhone glass durability- buy a case...
  • IPhone 4, iMovie- can't include 10+ pics, don't include them, export in a lower resolution.

So people say, " hey what are you complaining about, apple will update their app. " Will they? How do you know that? They sure as hell have not released a critical update to fix the wifi problem on the iPad. They have not stated they will fix it. As a customer, how am I supposed to know? People say, " why would you want to have more than 10 pics in your video? " Why not? When I found out about this issue, I was reading about people that couldn't export a 45 sec clip that was just pics, not videos. Some people just want to use pictures instead of videos. Apple has not changed the description on their app to implying restrictions. Their keynote showcasing iPhone 4 iMovie didn't indicate any restrictions.

It seems apples stance has gone from " think different " to " use different ". I like to buy products that work for me, not products that I have to work for. Why doesn't the iPhone 4 just work? I'm ok with not having flash to an extent, but I'm not ok with not having functionality from advertised functions. I called apple's facetime line the other day and facetime failed to work. It took 45 minutes of the apple rep passing me to a senior rep to somehow reactivate my facetime through text message. Yes, the rep had to reactivate my facetime by SMS. Makes no sense to me, but neither does the ultra strong glass advertised that has got scratched by a piece of plastic in my pocket.

Hell even a cheap " hurry, let's get more phones out " company like HTC has quickly fixed the glass seating problems in the EVO.

That's great that they updated the app. I called a senior level rep at corp and put in trouble ticket for their engineers.

To those that can't understand my point, it's simple. The communication with customers in regards to fixing problems is horrible. Great they updated the app, glad they did THIS one in a timely fashion. Yet until the update came out, there was no communication that they were working on this. It sucks to be a customer and not know if something will be fixed. Even the Corp rep had no idea of this app update coming. So I guess they have an internal communication problem as well.

Okay, so you jumped to conclusions because you 'believed' that they were not going to offer a fix for it - which obviously lead to your world falling apart, and the creation of this thread

and your also whinging about them taking 14 days to do it... how long does it take a regular app to get a bug fix update? its around the same time... stop whining

+1. and on top of that he has the audacity to go ahead and post his problems and concerns in a public apple forum! my god doesn't he realize that apple only blesses us with a new iphone once a year, and that during this sacred time we are all trying to enjoy our masterpieces (which we'll promply throw away next year with the new one arrives) but can't because of all the whining?? Some people have no respect!
