Don't really understand the mini 4 announcement given the aging hardware but the rest was nice for a press release. The angst in this place is expected but not very rational to me.

I was hoping for a 12in iPad pro refresh for the wife as she loves drawing with the pencil on the 9.7, but we can wait many months longer as the 9.7 is great. She just wants more real estate since she likes it so much.

I don't use iPads except in a pinch because I want to be in front of the biggest screen I have available which is a 27in iMac at home and I steal the 13in Macbook pro TB from the wife when we travel. The Macbook pro TB is a fantastic machine for us, but I wouldn't have bought it without a 13 percent off and no tax military promotion.

I will not be upgrading anything for a couple years at least but I do understand the frustration of the Mac Pro/Mac Mini people. Way past due for those.

I find the complainers interesting. Apple is a company. It is a public company with stock. It has to do quarterly reports. It grows at >20% per year. It has a P/E under 17 which is less than 20+8. It has room to go up on a P/E basis alone. The admitted marginal improvements in mature products acknowledged, it is an ANNUITY. There is no end in sight. Devices become functionally obsolete and "need" to be replaced at a rate. ~2 years for a phone, ~4 years for a pad, ~4-6 years for a Mac. Apple simply adjusted to the reality of its market. It even changed its name! It has significant user base growth!

Great for the non stockholding consumer! I'm sure profit and growth are the major concerns for Joe Consumer.

interesting the new iPad still has a headphone jack...

You can only have so much courage.

I don't know what's more concerning, the complainers or the people complaining about the complainers.

There are more things to be concerned about like Apple building a spaceship and they'll soon takeoff and leave us all behind. You're all a bunch of nutters! o_O:p:eek:

Can't help but notice that if the info fits in a 3 minute video, it would have fit in text readable in 30 seconds...

Well they did put it in words for you to read right below that. Whats wrong with having a video that they can also share on FB and YT?

So the trend is paying more for less.

Then again, I prefer these silent releases better than the recent events: Specs, prices and availability. No awkward keynotes or HQ hype. I would be just fine if this is the way products are announced going forward.

As far as the updates, red iPhone very nice.

This just isn't enough! They needed to release _______.

Apple is doomed!! Tim Cook is the worst!!
You're still trolling, though you think you're not. And if you can't see that today's releases were weak-sauce, you've got your eyes closed.

Although I'm unhappy with today's releases, your first line is plain wrong. They dialed back some of the expensive features of the iPad Air 2 in order to get the price down, and they put a faster processor in it. The features they dialed back on won't be noticeable unless you're just really trying your guts out to be pissy. You can't tell that slight difference in weight, and you can't tell that difference in thinness unless you go back and forth feeling for it. But the faster processor, you will feel. So you're paying less for the same or more, depending on how you look at it. But not less. I wanted a new 12.9" iPad Pro, so I'm unhappy. But I recognize the new iPad is a good update. The iPad mini got more storage for the same price: paying the same for more.

Looks like they're simply streamlining their product offerings more then announcing anything really "new"

Tim Cook is the new Gil Amelio...
One difference is that Amelio was CEO for less than 2 year and after he was ousted the board appointed Jobs to replace him. Cook has been CEO for more than 5 years. One thing to remember about Amelio is he was CEO when Apple bought NeXT bring Jobs back to Apple.

What Apple may not realize is these gimmicks they use to generate interest over mostly nothing is insulting to their core user base and loyal customers.

True,,, at least rather try and hide it they may as well tell us with product updates.... I mean there is no secret in that.. but if u are going to bring a site down for maintenance, make sure u do that and and not just "while where at it we'll updates, not just to the site which is now more bolder" and the whole thing will be a surprise, because "part" of it IS.

Least iPad is cheaper and they discontinued a few.. now makes more sense.

So Apple shouldn't release anything unless it's brand new products? I think releasing very minor changes like additional watch bands or a new iPhone colour is exactly the kind of thing that's done best without an event.

The store went down for maintenance today. When it came back, there were a few additions. It's not like Apple held a media event just for these changes.

It's the hype that was created for a March event. It wasn't clever to expect Mac update during this time. People signed up for disappointment.

Actually probably closer to the truth is they didn't want to change the mold, for this minor bump. They are going to do major changes to the line up later in the year. They can't make the case manufacturers change the cases twice in the same year. So they do a little bump, ok, maybe an almost setback, keeps the iPad only crowd happy, for nine months, (Christmas Maybe?). The pros get upgraded, and by the end of the year, we will see if they still have the jack, or if they even need it.

What, you mean like last year's Mac event? Big event, one new MacBook with a gimmicky touchbar...

My point stands.

No, a new generation MacBook Pro with a new design. If anything it shows Apples dedication to th Mac - a whole event focused on just one product.

Besides, you were moaning about their press release type updates from yesterday, not the event last October.
