No, a new generation MacBook Pro with a new design. If anything it shows Apples dedication to th Mac - a whole event focused on just one product.

Besides, you were moaning about their press release type updates from yesterday, not the event last October.
One product, when how many others needed updating? And still need updating?

I don't care if it's an event or a simple product press release. Just give us something worthwhile, not watch straps, a coat of paint and an iPad with yesteryear's tech.

There wasn't an event for one product because of how "magical" it was, there was one product because that's all they had to show due to negligence of the Mac.

I think you'll see the complaining fade as more people realize Apple is no longer what it was, and we all should just move on rather than treating Apple like they're a family member.

I find it so frustrating that no company seems to be stepping in to woo Apple's "pro" customer base who are apparently calling for these products.

Microsoft is trying, but still not really getting it.

Google's Chrome OS isn't suitable for the majority of users (and they've now discontinued the Pixel laptop).

And erm... those are the realistic options.

I did not expect macs today, but the idea that they will be announced in June at WWDC sounds likely and is disappointing. Apple tends to focus on the software on WWDC, so waiting until WWDC for the hardware product releases means not only yet a longer delay and hardly any innovation for years on that front. It also means they have nothing much to say on the software front. So, June announcement of hardware means for me: software slowdown (too) and hardware announcements to fill the gap. Now, software slowdown might be a good thing as I see too many software things that are half-baked (take the new log system, neat idea, poorly executed here and there and needs tlc).

So they've taken the iPad Air 1 design and put a new CPU/GPU in there and replaced the superior built iPad Air 2?

No laminated screen, no anti reflective coating, slightly thicker ... hope people enjoy the return of the bouncy "plastic" screen.

With no event coming up in the near future, we may be waiting until June's Worldwide Developers Conference or the fall to see many of these new releases but make sure to keep an eye on MacRumors for the latest rumors on Apple's launch plans.

If true, I wonder whether the timing of delaying the announcement of the new iPad Pros + the new rumoured 10.5 iPad at WWDC (where software is usually the focus) indicate possible revamp of the iOS for iPad? Maybe announce a separate iPadOS with increased productivity functionality to coincide with the new iPads? There's hoping anyways.

The store went down for maintenance today. When it came back, there were a few additions. It's not like Apple held a media event just for these changes.
Any $200 prefab webshop lets you add products without going down.

It's Apple who's building the hype in the first place. As like it's getting normal, underwhelming and overpriced. Thanks Timmy, no pennies from me this time.
Maybe I'm just forgetful, but I don't remember anything coming from Apple. Just a bunch of stuff the analysts made up. Considering what was released, it's not a big surprise if Apple kept it low-key.

What other company shuts down a site for "maintenance" anymore? Come on...
A story. A buzz. Marketing. That's all shutting it down does. Maintenance? Nah.
That was in the 80s
Now it's absolutely pathetic - it leaves the impression of a FilemakerPro webshop and a clueless Board avoiding confrontation with customers

Again - this complaint is worthy, and pressing if Apple had held an event for the updates yesterday. But they didn't. Most people won't even notice. So why all the renewed hate? It's ****ing irritating.

One difference is that Amelio was CEO for less than 2 year and after he was ousted the board appointed Jobs to replace him. Cook has been CEO for more than 5 years. One thing to remember about Amelio is he was CEO when Apple bought NeXT bring Jobs back to Apple.
Same old products and duhpgrades. Innovation is at the level of a local timber shop.
And Amelio didn't have the horrific Amelio example.

Whah, you're right. I should have said:

slow days at Cupertino
T: He you guys, what will we present during the mid-april event ?
All: Snore, snore...
T: Who wants to be on stage ?
All: Snork. Snurrrggwh.
T: Is there anything we can do to fulfill market expectations ?
P: Duh. We are selling 1B apps via the AppStore and 10B products via the AppleStore. So why wake up ?
All: Snore, snore...
J: There are no new designs. But warehouses full of old iPad cases that we can retrofit. If that's not enough, do your product (RED) thingy.
T: Great meeting. Oh man, I feel soo excited. And so diverse.. And ooah, the iPad...
A meticulously crafted, hence proven form factor that only Apple can do !

Dumb announcements, but I'd be lying if I said that (RED) iPhone didn't look fantastic.

Well, with 3000 patent advocates, 12.000 patents pending, 4000 people in the production preparation, 40.0000 chinese assembly workers and 8000 QA engineers, I find it rewarding that the red phone looks ehhh.. red
(but bezels never were more obtrusive...)

You're still trolling, though you think you're not. And if you can't see that today's releases were weak-sauce, you've got your eyes closed.

Although I'm unhappy with today's releases, your first line is plain wrong. They dialed back some of the expensive features of the iPad Air 2 in order to get the price down, and they put a faster processor in it. The features they dialed back on won't be noticeable unless you're just really trying your guts out to be pissy. You can't tell that slight difference in weight, and you can't tell that difference in thinness unless you go back and forth feeling for it. But the faster processor, you will feel. So you're paying less for the same or more, depending on how you look at it. But not less. I wanted a new 12.9" iPad Pro, so I'm unhappy. But I recognize the new iPad is a good update. The iPad mini got more storage for the same price: paying the same for more.

LOL...the internals of the Mini were not updated, so you get 128gb for the entry level price but the Mini 4 32gb was discontinued rather than dropping that to $299. The Air 2 was better than its replacement, the iPad specs-wise. The value is not there.

Oh and the SE 128gb DID go back up to the original price of the 64gb - $499.

So I politely agree to disagree here. Have a lovely day. :p

haha, yeah!

There are other reasons Apple takes the store down, it's not they don't know what they're doing. To make sure there are no mistakes which will cost them money, to make sure no one orders a product in the 11th hour, etc.

I for one think the new Watch straps look amazing!

I can't wait to see the new Watch straps in person.

I hope Apple have more Watch straps in the works
for this Summer when I'll be wanting to upgrade
my Watch strap again.

Because EVERYTHING is waaaaaay OVERDUE!!

When the store goes down, there is always that slight glimmer of hope left that Apple actually gives a damn about something other than dollars. And then they just give another kick in the balls. Hence the squealing...

What's really annoying are the Apple apologists.

Forgive me for getting pissed at an old friend that came into some big money and turned into an ***.

Think Different? Nah, think corporate turd.

I'm happy that there were new watch straps. I bought a new Apple watch on Friday so this update was a good thing to see. Just because you weren't excited about what was released doesn't mean it wasn't worthwhile.

So Apple shouldn't release anything unless it's brand new products? I think releasing very minor changes like additional watch bands or a new iPhone colour is exactly the kind of thing that's done best without an event.
Don't you know that Apple is doomed if it doesn't update every product every 12 months with meaningful improvements?

The store went down for maintenance today. When it came back, there were a few additions. It's not like Apple held a media event just for these changes.
People feel offended when Apple doesn't update all devices using A series processors the same day the iPhone gets a new A series processor.

Apple gets criticised when the changes between (yearly) updates are too modest and Apple gets criticised if it waits 18 to 24 months to combine more changes into a bigger difference. Look at the iPad mini 3 (which only got Touch ID over the iPad mini 2). Apple got criticised for releasing a product with so little new things (there also was a storage bump/price cut included). But it would also have been criticised if it had waited to update the Mini until the release of the iPad Mini 4.

Apple releases new iPad with a bunch of new features (True Tone, wide gamut, Pencil support, four speakers, Smart Connector, updated camera) at a higher price: Apple only cares about Dollars.

Apple releases new iPad that is cheaper than any other iPad at that size: Apple only cares about Dollars.
