I hear the main difference is 4k h265 10-bit color hardware decoding support. Apart from that, it's a speed bump.

If it had support for 10-bit color output (via HDMI, etc) i'd be disappointed that I got my 13" tMBP. But so far the differential between the 2016 model and this seem negligible to me. Of course they could drop the price.

Oh and they could replace the keyboard with a touch panel, or just turn the space into a giant track pad with the ability to display a keyboard. They could also, remove ALL ports if they go with wireless charging. Because, you know.... Apple. :D

But at least I get to enjoy my new Mac now, instead of having to wait till 2018 ;)

It says the Kaby Lake Mac Pros are shipping next month, but pre-orders open on the 15th. 6, 8, 12, 18 core models available, 8 Thunderbolt-3/USB-C ports, choice of space grey or jet black housing. Still no mention of an Apple branded display.
The stupid thing is that that is exactly the type of specs that *should* be in a new Mac Pro. Personally, I'd like to see an update to the 2011 quad core Mac mini that I'm using to type this on at work...

There is no need for new Macs as long as the old ones still work. EvnqjFc.jpg Tim Cook approves.

The non touch bar MacBook with Kaby Lake will have amazing battery life! I'm not upgrading until the battery life of the 13" MBA is matched.

What? There are Skylake CPUs with Iris Pro. Even if there weren't, some people are happy to force on the HD530.
You are right, I had only looked at the Kaby Lake line-up. Still, I'd say most complaints about the 2016 MBPs can be categorised as: "If Apple only offered a version that had X or did not have Y, then ..." In this case, 'If Apple offered a version without dGPU, the 15" MBP would have started at the same price as the previous generation.' Or, 'If Apple had offered a thicker version with more battery.', or 'If Apple had offered a thicker version with 32 GB of RAM', or 'If Apple had offered a cheaper dual-core 15" model'.

Vote with your dollars - don't buy. That will go further in advancing your wants with Apple than complaining on an Internet forum will.

I agree. I haven't bought the new MBP. I'm waiting for apple to bring back a magnetic connector, a much better battery, a detachable touchscreen, Nvidia GPUs, and 32 Gigs RAM. Then it will be worth the ridiculous $4000 they are charging now.

if they update these machines in less than 6 months, that would be a bit of kick in the guts of early adopters, if they add 32GB, and reduce the prices

Yeah that would be crappy. I like to time upgrades every 1 to 2 years depending on what is available. However, Kaby Lake is sounding like a good generation to skip since I'm not professional enough to need 32GB RAM four months ago.

Louis C.K. came to mind when all the MacBook Pro negativity hit: "How quickly the world owes him something he knew existed only ten seconds ago."

But i just spent 4 grand on the new speced out 2016 model o_Oo_O:mad::mad::mad::mad::(:(:(:(:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
I'm guessing it won't be until summer at the earliest. Apple has released new versions within one year before (e.g. the Sandy Bridge MacBook Air and 13" MacBook Pro were released in July 2011, 9 months after the substantially redesigned Core 2 Duo models were released in October 2010).

Usually when someone insults & corrects a spelling mistake I don't reply for a number of reasons but in this case all I'll say is that I haven't left Apple, Apple left me. By underspec-ing their machines, their psychotic obsession with thinness, gimmicky "features" like the touch bar, mediocre software, complete abandonment of professional software and hardware etc. Apple is losing its pro customers by the day and it's clear that Apple doesn't give a ****.

Just how are they losing 'pro' customers by the day? Did you just see their financial results? How do you know the Touch Bar is a gimmick? Have you used it? How do you know it's under spec'ed? Have you tested it out rather than looking at Geekbench?

It's the oldest argument in the book but what Apple can deliver on 8 gigs of RAM is what Windows needs 16 gigs for. Do yourself a favour and watch Jonathan Morrison's video on YouTube about video editing 4k footage on a 12 inch MacBook vs a Windows i7 computer. He is able to demonstrate how it obliterates a very well 'spec'ed' Windows machine. Speaking of YouTubers, most of them get paid to bag Apple out. By watching them and listening to half these people on these forums who also buy into the hysteria, you are well and truly missing out. The only people that are qualified to actually give a proper review/opinion of this machine are those who have used it - compared to last year and compared to Windows. I am a Pro customer that fits all of those categories. I can tell you that this is by far the best computer I have ever used in every single way. I am under no obligation to say that as I could have easily returned it and kept my new-ish 2015 model. I instead sold that one (for a great amount I will add) and I haven't looked back since.

Great news - although I'm sure someone will complain they just bought a new one.

Apple really can't win here. Don't refresh enough - complain. Refresh yearly - complain.
Apple's done this before. The redesigned MacBook Air was released in October 2010 with an ancient Core 2 Duo processor. 9 months later Apple updated it with Sandy Bridge. That was a much bigger jump than Skylake to Kaby Lake.

Thank god I didn't pull the trigger on the Late 2016
I had no choice; but my Late 2016 seems to be working quite well. If my understanding is correct that the Kaby Lake processors will not add that much benefit to my work flow, I can live with it. Tick-Tock-Tock?

I remember when references to a new and upcoming MacPro was found in a past update to Mac OS. Still waiting for that to come true to.
