Apple loses mindshare and “free” marketing when they don’t have Apple branded monitors attached to minis and Pros in an office environment.

But those monitors would need speakers and webcams and all that to be suitable. That increases the cost.
In most office environments…. there’s an Apple logo on the back of the laptop.

...EDIT 2: I guess I need to clarify? My wife HATES pink. She hated buying a pink bike. She also hates the stereotypical 'female' colors that so much 'female' gendered stuff comes in. ...
I know several ladies who wouldn't be caught alive OR dead in pink. I have several pink shirts, and at least one tie with pink in it.
Bond-ee instead of Bond-eye
Unless you actually pronounce it "Bondee" like several people I know here in the US.
How to remember how to pronounce Bondi: James Bond (of Agent 007 fame) had his eye replaced. He was recently asked about it and answered... it's my eye... my Bond Eye. :D

And, no... Eye is NOT pronounced Eee Yee! 😆
eee-eye-eee-eye-oh, and Bingo was his name-oh!

While this has likely been posted 57 times already, in various threads (sorry, I’ve not read every post - I know, slacking), but the Loaded in Spring Loaded is referencing quantity. We’re gonna get a crap-ton of goodies; Air Tags, iPads, iMacs, OSes, iPhone cases, Watch bands, etc. It’ll be a big day.
Apple must have been making maximum use of their time during quarantine.

Well, I can tell you they 'may' debut it, and I am not a 'reliable leaker'.

If the main headline is iPad then I cannot imagine they would be 'higher' up the event chain than all new iMacs.
Does Tim Cook ever do "one more thing" like Steve Jobs did? Maybe the headline is the iPad, but the OMT is the iMac.

I'm hoping they have the same design as the Pro Display because the iMac design is outdated, and these renders look kind of hideous.

The imac is almost a given thanks to Apples invitation in Spanish
"Novedades de todos los colores" - New in all colors

I don’t understand the fascination with an all in one desktop. Apart from being super cool, wouldn’t it be better to have a best in class apple monitor and the computer unit separate. I can change/upgrade either one as required. If space clutter is a problem you could always create neat ways of hanging a Mac mini on the back of the monitor. There is so much waste at the end of life of an iMac. It’s a shame that Apple can shout from the top of solar roof tops but not care about the environment for real.
The problem is we only have best-in-class computer.

There is no comparable best-in-class monitor.

And no, the expensive Pro XDR monitor doesn't count.

I went from being a 5K iMac owner to a Mac mini hooked to a Pro Display XDR owner.

The only benefit of the iMac was a bit less clutter.

And when the 5K iMac had bluetooth and backlight bleed issues, I had to take into Apple several times.

Now that was a pain. Getting a Mac mini serviced will be much easier (assuming Apple can "service" an M1 Mac).
This set up would be great if the Pro Display XDR isn't that expensive!

Man, I don’t think this is the right event to introduce a redesigned iMac — the Mac deserves a live audience so we can hear the cheering and applause — just like the original Mac introduction in 1984.

I can see this being a very simple, slick line-up.

They'll obviously offer BTO options, but I'm convinced that there may only be one or two standard configurations for a couple of reasons; the M1 is so much more advanced than anything in the last generation 21.5" model (so there's no need to up-sell better components), and this is what will allow Apple to maintain a stock of 5 colour options.

Also I think that for the general consumer, keeping the configs simple will help a great deal. Just like the original iMac, you pick your colour and that's it - they all perform the same. It's a general purpose computer.

I'm excited personally because I think the iMac has sorely been lacking an 'entry level' guise. They let the specs and design languish for so long that it was hard to justify not spending a bit more to get the 27" model. And for the size of the chassis, the bezel wasted a lot more space than the 27" model.

integration of the apple pencil on the iMac would help justify its existence in today's world so that's why I think it's happening. If they go to the trouble of redesigning the entry-level iMac (so consumer version) AND it's the first ever redesigned computer in the M1 era, something must be big.

I'd be very surprised/sad that we just get a screen with a M1 and that's it.

0% chance of touch on an iMac anytime soon. MacOS would need to be redesigned from the ground up.

integration with pencil doesn't mean necessarily touch across the whole OS (although I have to admit it would be very "un-apple"). I am just trying to put myself in Apple's shoes, why would I bother re-designing a platform that I haven't really updated for a decade. Surely the low volumes compared to iPhone might explain part of the story, but I don't think it would have been that difficult to reduce bezels 2-3 years ago.

If I am Apple, my approach to this design is how to keep this form factor relevant for the next decade. they have pretty incredible technology (pencil, sidecar, faceID,...) that could make a consumer desktop proposition more compelling that just an all-in-one desktop (that any competitor could just make their own version of).

Why I think it's something to do with pencil, It was probably anecdotal but I remember reading a long time ago that a few apple engineers were quite disgruntled that microsoft released the surface studio and all apple could do was updating the iMac specs. Sure Apple does not do first and maybe the studio was a bit ahead of its time, but it was a couple years ago so I would be very bummed if Apple (with their new chips, their unlimited money, their world class design team) cannot do something similar that 'just' works.

Are we going to ignore the fact that the guy literally tweeted at MacRumors they’re reading too much into the tweet?

As much as I want an Apple Silicon iMac (I need to replace mine ASAP) I’m 80% sure this event will be iPad only.
I really hope I’m wrong tho...

I hadn’t heard that, but I also don’t conclude from his tweet that iMacs are coming this week.
