Disgusting what they made of Apple nowadays after his passing.
Yeah disgusting! An admired corporation. A corporation that invented a new category of devices that bring in more revenue than many countries. A company who sells hundreds of millions of phones a year.

Yep, what Tim made of Apple is disgusting.

Now here is a great American. So many good qualities. Some bad, yes - we've all read the biographies. But so many good qualities. A great leader. A truth teller. An honest and compassionate man with principles. A visionary. I'd want to work for a company with a leader like that. I'd want to buy their products. I'd be a believer. And was. I just about still am.

What have changed or not for me re Apple is:

- I still buy some products from them, that I have use for.

- I am not even interested who are working at the company anymore.
- I don't watch their keynotes - most of the news is out before anyway.
- Thansks to MacRumors and other companies that cover and write about tech.
- Keynotes earlier was like something you really wanted to see when Steve and Joni were around.

Apple is just like any other company I shop from today.
I have no idea who are the CEO of IKEA as an exempel either today.
I have no idea who are the CEO of the store-chain where I shop most of my food here, etc.

Neither do I care. I buy products I have use for, that's all - Apple are no exception.

As a product manager, I see him as the ultimate product manager. He knew how to focus on what was important in the long run - the user experience. Before all of the armchair experts on here begin to lament the current state of Apple, given it’s success in redefining the headphone and watch markets after he died, I think that he would be proud of where they are today. The iPhone Air in particular is a nice “return to form” for Apple and I think that the company’s continued success is his legacy.

I’m mostly with you here other than the liquid glass disaster, which he would have no tolerance of.

I use to love watching special events with Steve Jobs.
Absolutely loved them.
That was then on a 20 inch aluminum iMac from 2007.
I loved how Steve loved his products with all his being.
Don't see that with Tim Cook and don't watch the special events.
You're my hero Steve Jobs!

There were a ton of decisions made under him that were highly criticized and even walked back. It isn’t about a particular design or launch, it’s about the vision and the company as a whole.

Yes, thank you I’m aware I lived through it.

I still maintain that this release, especially on the Mac, would not have seen the light of day under Steve.

Crazy to think that this year marks the point where Steve's been gone just as long as his return to Apple in 1997 lasted... What a radically different company Apple was 28 years ago in a radically different world we lived in... It's wild to think about all that happened in those 14 years from his return to his passing; from iMac to iPad basically... Even wilder to think that everything going forward will now have less of Steve's influence than even those first steps in 97.

Stay hungry, stay curious.

It’s a clear indication of a facet of a corporation. It’s useful to know Apple will be around for another day. Unlike Enron or blackberry.

I don’t want to trigger you, but Cook and his finance bros are literally driving the company to the ground right now. People see value and think they’re doing so good, but they really aren’t. They went from being the most valuable company to being 3rd in less than a year. Watch this if you need a short high level summary of what’s actually going on with Apple today.

Steve would approve of where Apple is. The YouTube video is clickbait. Apple has been doomed since 2011. Maybe the prophecy is true. Eh?

When SJ was at the helm, the company was essentially led by a king. Nowadays, the company is led by the board of directors - and it shows.
A-inc will never have a king again. The next CEO will be elected by the board to be a person they can rein in.

It's not a matter of reigning in or having a king.

It's all about Apple having 1+ Billion active and repeat customers-> who love and purchase Apple products -> making Apple one of the most successful consumer tech companies in the world -> a happy board of directors.

Simple.

If Apple were to make products their customers didn't like, Apple would cease being one of the most successful consumer tech companies in the world, resulting in an unhappy board of directors.

Happy customers are the arbiters of a company's success.
