True, but back then the iPod brand was thriving, and streaming services weren't a big deal.
I think Tim Cook wants Jimmy Iovine to be the CEO of Apple. I have a hard time believing that Jimmy would do a good job.
.
I wonder what Jonny I've thinks of those huge plastic headphones with logos all over it.
Someone that shouldn't be in the music industry? Why?
Ill take this further. I dont think its right to ever call another human being "trash", just because they had different opportunities, suffered harship, didnt get as good an education, born in the wrong place, wrong time, or whatever the reason. It is an affront to basic human decency to label another as trash. Money does not come into it. There are plenty of rich people who do very bad things to others, and plenty of poor who would give their last penny to help someone out.
The prejudice and idiocy in this thread make me want to stop reading this forum.
That app and it's users are growing like wildfire. Beats has none of that growth. They should have gone after Spotify.People need to put the price in perspective.
Apple can afford this acquisition regardless of your definition of its "success".
Facebook paid $19 billion for WhatsApp.
An app people, an APP.
Bringing "culturally aware" managers to Apple is a big part of why Apple is interested in acquiring Beats
Reportedly, it's not that Apple is worried about losing its 30% cut of song downloads, but Apple launching a streaming music service could decimate the more than $1 billion that iTunes generates for record industry revenues.
The piece argues that Apple may be looking to grow its streaming business on the side as iTunes music downloads drop, and that the company is looking to "bridge the download and cloud eras gracefully."

None of you saw this coming when apple made the iPhone 5s in gold?
Might be, but it is the best selling headphone brand on the panel. So, there must be something right about the design...

Sorry trendy rap and hip hop died in the last decade. It might come back but for now the tastes are pop and EDM.
I think a guy like Jack White would be a better fit for Apple.
If Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, or some other celebrity or musician had a company in which Apple were to pay billions of USD because of a supposed need to be hip or mainstream, I think the forum would have very similar responses to this current thread.
Yeah god forbid a guy with 6 Grammy awards and great influence in music be in the music industry huh. I bet there's a lot of artists who are glad he is though. People hating on success huh?
