its both haha,

we do airdrop at work and use imessage for group chat, along with couple other nuances that i'm spacing out on. i work in a law firm so having imessage encryption is a nice benefit. plus osx makes indexing easier than microsoft office in certain format.

as for personal i switched to s6 during law school for a year and it was very frustrating not knowing where everything was. i'll say samsung have made huge improvement in the software but i just don't have the time to adjust. however currently i have 2 mbp, a mac pro, ipad, and airpods with applewatch, so i'm pretty tied into the eco system. and not being able to see imessage both on phone and on my mac would be a pretty big draw back for me.

i will most likely upgrade to the 11, just waiting on that verizon deal coming along, but that doesn't mean i'll be happy paying 50 bucks more for 6 bucks worth of storage haha

In that case your work should be paying for your iPhone. So not a problem, and you can use your own money to buy yourself a second Android phone to play about with if you like.

Tell that to all the iPhone 6, 5S, 5C and 5 owners. Four generations of iPhones stuck on 1GB DRAM with constant app reloads and early obsolescence while the competition had double the DRAM or more.

Yep. I can't estimate how often people in this forum tried insisting that 1GB was enough....and that my 6 not even caching 2 Safari tabs without reloads wasn't a RAM thing.

Then I get a 6S and compare them side by side, magically the 6s with 2 GB RAM could cache multiple Safari tabs with no reload.

the iphone 7 they gave me 2 years ago works just fine, so if im upgrading its gonna be out of my own pocket.

iPhone 7 is 3 years old. Does your company amortise tech over 4 years? If so that's great timing for next year's iPhone...

yeah they do, if apple keep nickel and diming its customers, eventually they do leave.
That sounds reasonable in theory, but is there data to back that claim?

I think you'd be surprised to learn just how few people leave Appleland. This is why Apple keeps doing what they're doing... they haven't felt any negative financial effects from their actions. (or at least not negative enough to warrant a change)

Because Apple aren’t market leaders in this area, they’re not in many or indeed most areas now (slow to adopt OLED, waterproofing, cameras beaten by Huawei etc etc). I’d say the competition is even catching up fast on looks.

People always say iOS is more efficient so it doesn’t need as much, but I don’t know where that comes from; if it’s proven or just an assumption. I’ve seen demonstrations that show Apple falling behind in keeping stuff in memory compared to the 8 GB phones, which is not surprising when compared with a 4 GB device.
Yeah, people leave Apple and flock to Huawei don’t they? Apple sells the whole package and is a leader in silicon. iPhones have longer usable lives than Android counterparts because of Apple’s software support and great silicon. Proof? Look at the secondary market for 2-3 year old iPhones versus unsupported and slow Androids.

We don’t have hard data to back claims like this, but there are an estimated 200M iPhone 6 and below still in use. I find it hard to believe these phones are slow and unusable. iPhones actually last too long in some sense.

Anecdotally, I know several people with iPhone 6 and they don’t want to upgrade because it’s “fine.” These non real world tests of opening 30 apps at a time have no application in reality. 1GB of RAM is probably enough for a lot of people.

User base continues to grow, so competition still haven’t figured out what keeps iPhone users happy with Apple....because they are just that, and not switching.

i haven't asked, but law firms aren't as tech centric as other type of business, my boss is still using mac mini from 2014, and his boss is on the same iphone 7 as me. i believe we have a use it til its broken policy.

well the latest fiasco i know about is apple slashing prices in china heavily boosting trade in policy.

Any rumours suggest 6gb will be reserved for the 512gb iphone 11 pro max?

The color existed before Lotus, MG and Sunbeam started using it.

Later on Porsche used it on a few 911s

I’m glad Apple revived it, finally I’ll be able to get TShirts in that color again.
I think there was a Ferrari 348 in that colour too

6GB of RAM kind of makes sense for the Pro models since they now have a triple lens layout and 4GB definitely makes sense for the iPhone 11. In any event, even with 3GB of RAM on my XR, I have no issues with apps closing etc. That has been demonstrated over and over with comparison videos. I imagine iOS won’t tax 3GB iPhones for at least another year or two, otherwise that would exclude iPhone 7 Plus/8 Plus and the year old XR.
As well as the X, 5th gen iPad mini and 3rd gen iPad Air.

Be courageous and settle for 4 GB RAM for Pro Max!! That's most likely, now shift focus to how iPhones with fewer amount of RAM out perform Android in synthetic benchmark tests!!

Highly unlikely as the 512 GB iPad Pro is fine with 4 GB, so was last year's 512 GB XS.

It’s opinion based on historical fact, not sure why you posted that comment?
The claim that evil Apple will do anything to intentionally slow down your old iPhone forcing you to upgrade is "based on historical fact"? I guess claims like that never get old, but they're as tin-foily as ever.

This is the company that just recently bothered to issue an update for 8 year old iPhone 4s (and even older iPad 2) to ensure GPS continues to work properly.

6GB RAM in the phone would at least be something for the Pro designation.

This year was just a pure and total bust. Sorry but adding pro naming because an extra camera was slapped on. Where is the wow feature to merit "pro". I see lots of folks arguing about storage. 64GB is fine for mom and pop and should be an option. The extreme price hike for 512gb is a joke as far as I am concerned. Anything people here are talking about it costing more to make is a joke. Apple is huge and even if they are using the highest class chips it still costs peanuts. They dropped prices this year on 1TB iPads. It's all fake. Yes I have 2TB of icloud but I have zero interest in having my life "camera roll" in any public cloud including Apple's. The only thing they have done right lately is integration with private clouds via API and files app. I can have PW DBs and photos on my private cloud and there is some integration into apps. If they would allow iCloud photos to sync to my private home cloud and show up in the camera roll I would be set.

If they offered a 512gb iPhone 11 I would have bought it in a heartbeat. There just isn't a reason for the 11 Pro other than storage for me. Seriously considering bailing on the upgrade program.

One doesn't judge how bad a company is by the good things they do, but by the bad. "How can that man be a mass murderer? He bought my kid an ice cream cone!"

Besides, Apple admitted to slowing down iPhones with worn batteries. Then when it was reported, they were initially silent about it but eventually, on threat of a class-action lawsuit, they admitted it. This is their typical approach to things... only admit something when they're caught red-handed. That is not behavior that I find laudable.
