Actually they are charging 50 bucks less this year.
that 50 bucks is a pretty good reflection of low memory price, matured LCD tech, low ram price, economy of scale since there is not much difference from the Xr assembly line.

  • 30 seconds of 4K at 30FPS will take approximately 175MB (85MB using HEVC in iOS 11)
  • 60 seconds takes up 350MB (170MB)
  • 5 minutes takes up 1.75GB (850MB)
  • 10 minutes takes up 3.5GB (1.7GB)
  • 30 minutes takes up 10.5GB (5.1GB)

iphone 11 shoots 4k 60hz, so double of that will be 30 mins takes up 20gb raw, 10gb in hevc.

if you go to one or two wedding, chances are 64gb is not gonna cut it.

it's always so odd that they specifically make a point of never mentioning RAM capacities yet the amount of RAM is often the decisive factor in choosing a phone.

I think the amount of RAM a phone has is a consideration for an eeny weeny number of buyers (if any).

Computers, yes.

Mobile phones, no.

God forbid a company tries to make a profit lol. Yes I'll agree that Apple could increase the base model to 128 GB for about $50 more but that means all those customers who never used more than 64GB would be paying extra for nothing. The alternative is customers who actually need more can add it. I'm going with allowing me the choice every time.
if anyone ask me if they want to upgrade to the 11, i would ask him if you take alot of videos and photos, otherwise they would save a whole lot more by going with Xr. and if they do take alot of vids and photos, chances are 64gb is not gonna cut it.

Until now?
Well 4 GB isn't bragging rights either, but it's nothing to sneeze at. And 6 GB is probably on par with Pixel? Samsung keeps shoving more RAM in there, always has, but they never run stock Android either.

A bunch of new Geekbench scores have shown up today, including multiple for the iPhone 11 Pro Max, and they all indicate 4 GB.

BTW, a new iPhone 11 score has also shown up and show performance like its OLED cousins, indicating the initial result was an anomalous low score.

View attachment 857622

Ouch.

Fastest Snapdragon 855 scores: 732/2629
Fastest Exynos 9820 scores: 762/2129

iPhone 11 scores: 1330/3473

Man, it's not even close. And the Samsung Exynos is pure trash. With Geekbench 4 it had a single core result about 25% faster than the 855 and the multi core results were close. I guess the issues with the scheduler are more pronounced with the new benchmark.

I trust XCode > Geekbench >>>>..................> OnLeaks or GSMarena. And yet these stories keep getting posted.

I guess I am new to the world of Echo Chamber.

( But Please I really want to be wrong .... )
I would love to be wrong too, but as far as the likely truth is concerned, I’m definitely on Team 4 GB. Ironically though, GSM Arena has been indicating it is 4 GB, not 6 GB.

BTW, I don’t think 6 GB is necessary in 2019 for an iPhone. 4 GB seems reasonable. In contrast, I think all the Pro iPads should go 6 GB in late 2019 / early 2020. It’s much easier to make use of all that RAM on an iPad Pro, and people typically keep iPads longer than iPhones too.

And I can find apps that run faster in Android.
Your original post was a straight up lie. That's the problem with making blanket statements.

As to this comment, please do.

I've asked this of Android users here at MR numerous times. Pick out the best, most powerful high-end Apps you can find on Android. Then I'll run them on my various Android devices and compare the performance to my iPhones. The reason I ask others to pick the Apps as it removes their ability to claim I cherry-picked Apps to make the iPhone look faster.

You know how many people have taken me up on this challenge? Zero. Zip. Nada. I find it hilarious when Android users are always claiming their devices are just as fast (or faster) yet never bother to prove it when I ask them for some specific Apps so I can try them out.

Who knows, maybe you'll be the first...….

Pixels tend to have low amounts of RAM. OnePlus 6 has 8GB over a year ago. OnePlus 7 Pro has 12GB. Note 10+ is 12GB.

They updated it, it was showing 6GB not a long while ago.

Define a "powerful app". A game that is graphics intensive? An app that crunches numbers? Seriously, how many people do stuff on theor phones that take more than a second or two? Maybe on an iPad, but a phone?

Since I have owned iPhones and Notes for as long as they have existed, have a Note 10+ now, an iPhone XS Max and soon an 11 Max Pro, and develop softare for both platforms, I will take my own knowledge and experience over your bias, thanks.

for what, phone calls and text message? the iphone 11 series is camera centric upgrade, with 4k 60hz, how long do you think 64gb is going to last.
Depends on how many pictures/videos you take. Which is not the same as how many I take. So you and I don’t necessarily need the same amount of storage. Also, I have 2tb iCloud storage, so I don’t necessarily need as much on the phone itself.

I get it, you love capitalism and being free. No one is arguing against it or trying to force you into something anymore than you or Apple are trying to force us. Apple is being cheap, as per usual, and selling customers the same thing as last year. But that is pretty standard for Apple. It would not cost more to put 128gb in those devices, and there is a reason they don't even offer that as a tier for the pro models (64/256/512).

Thanks comrade.

Can someone who is upset about the possibility of 4 GB RAM please share with us 1 (one) time where you've had issues with your iPhone XS due to only having 4 GB?

true, but with the higher pixel/frame count, theres even less pics and vids u and i can take.

I am not sure why this 6GB DRAM rumours is getting posted every where. People trust these leakers, and GSMarena as if they were source of truth.

In Xcode, it clearly shows both model iPhone Pro 11 and Pro Max are in memory class 3, i.e 4GB of Memory.

Any information on the 10.2” iPad in there? I’m hoping it is 3 GB, but am afraid it could be 2 GB.

While I think 4 GB is fine for a brand new iPhone in 2019, I don’t think 2 GB is fine for a brand new iPad in 2019.

Now I am reading his tweet. ( https://twitter.com/OnLeaks/status/1172073401734828033 )

He is back tracking,

1. he said "Seems Like" ( LOL )
2. He said it is "what official certification platforms says" ( No it is not an official certification platform, it is the Taobao, Amazon of China, as simple as that )
I am glad he showed us the screengrab. His source is very dubious.

So you're not going to provide any? BTW, you're not the only one who codes here, so stop with the "I code so you should believe me" crap. It's not going to fly.

Sorry, I said high-end powerful Apps. Ones that utilize the speed of the processor. Of course, this is exactly what I expected which is why I specifically named the types of Apps in my post. Yet you still ignored it.

Face it, nobody has the balls to actually run these tests because they know what the results will be.

With iPhone 11 having 4GB of RAM, that is a good indication that 2GB RAM devices are nearing their end of life.
I’m guessing Apple will start dropping support for 2GB RAM devices starting iOS 14, with the 6s being the obvious first casualty.

You don't actually believe that, do you? Apple just introduced the "new" iPad with an A10 and presumably 2 GB of RAM. The same runs the recently updated iPod touch. The iPhone 8 also has 2 GB of RAM.

There's no way iOS would drop support based on RAM (with more than 2 GB minimum) again before late 2022.
