So you're not going to provide any? BTW, you're not the only one who codes here, so stop with the "I code so you should believe me" crap. It's not going to fly.

Sorry, I said high-end powerful Apps. Ones that utilize the speed of the processor. Of course, this is exactly what I expected which is why I specifically named the types of Apps in my post. Yet you still ignored it.

Face it, nobody has the balls to actually run these tests because they know what the results will be.

You keep spec chasing. I will continue to enjoy both platforms, as each offers different things.

By the way, you "code". But for iOS AND Android?

Otherwise, don't tell me my business.

Pixels tend to have low amounts of RAM. OnePlus 6 has 8GB over a year ago. OnePlus 7 Pro has 12GB. Note 10+ is 12GB.
Why tho. Who actually needs 8GB or especially 12 GB of RAM in a mobile device in 2019? Either it’s for pure bragging rights, or Samsung, and Android as a whole, really is that inefficient.

Its sad to think my $1000 iPhone X is only worth $400 now.
Trade in maybe, but you can easily fetch $50-$100 more private sale. Imagine what a $1000 android device is worth 2 years later...yikes.

true, but with the higher pixel/frame count, theres even less pics and vids u and i can take.
  • 30 seconds of 4K at 30FPS will take approximately 175MB (85MB using HEVC in iOS 11)
  • 60 seconds takes up 350MB (170MB)
  • 5 minutes takes up 1.75GB (850MB)
  • 10 minutes takes up 3.5GB (1.7GB)
  • 30 minutes takes up 10.5GB (5.1GB)

iphone 11 shoots 4k 60hz, so double of that will be 30 mins takes up 20gb raw, 10gb in hevc.

if you go to one or two wedding, chances are 64gb is not gonna cut it.

i have 50gb icloud, so i do necessarily need as much of the phone itself.
I agree for future proofing spend the extra for 256gb.

I was really surprised to hear about 6 GB on the Pro, so I can easily believe that not being accurate. It already was kind of unexpected to see the XS go 4 GB last year.

iPhone 6s, 7 and 8 all had 2 GB (except Plus models with dual camera) and before that iPhone 5, 5s and 6 all had 1 GB. Given that pattern, several RAM bumps in a row would've seemed a little odd. Although not entirely without precedent, as iPhone 4 jumped to 512 MB after the 3GS had jumped to 256 MB just the year before, but that's only 2 jumps in a row.

for what, phone calls and text message? the iphone 11 series is camera centric upgrade, with 4k 60hz, how long do you think 64gb is going to last.
Depends on the resolution you are shooting. If you are shooting 4K/60p, you are going to get about 2 hours of video on the 64GB model if you take into account the amount need by iOS and basic iOS Apps. If you bump the resolution down or to 1080p, you get quite a bit more. Not everyone cares or wants 4K/60p footage, but it's there if you do. And if you do, you might want a higher storage tier. Even for a filmmaker, they can get by with 64GB, because they aren't likely shooting more than an hour of footage a day. If you are a serious filmmaker, you aren't editing it on your iPhone. Honestly, at this point, the next step for Apple is to give filmmakers a way to save to an external drive or recorder directly. They also need to release a 1TB model at some point. If this triple lens system and the picture is as good as it looks, it obviates the use of a GH5 and a bunch of lenses for a lot of people.

if anyone ask me if they want to upgrade to the 11, i would ask him if you take alot of videos and photos, otherwise they would save a whole lot more by going with Xr. and if they do take alot of vids and photos, chances are 64gb is not gonna cut it.

Why recommend iPhone XR over iPhone 11? With my iPhone 8 Plus they cost the same for the baseline model ($399)? And iPhone 11 actually has a 256GB model available for sale new, while iPhone XR is no longer offered with 256GB.

Does it even matter to iPhone owners how much RAM their cellphones have? It has always been an Android discussion, trying to outdo each other with the amount of RAM in their phones. My friends discuss **** like this and I, being an iPhone owner, have absolutely zero idea how much RAM any of my iPhone' have ever had.

But, having said that, when you go into the spec sheet and see how much money you're spending on a device, you start to feel at least my phone should have this much. Even though it makes absolutely no real world difference to your usage.

Over the years and many iPhone I've had no idea how much RAM was inside. And they all have worked great. It's something I don't give two trucks about.

So we agree that we don’t need the same amount of storage.

You go to more weddings than I do. And take more video when you do.

So fair is forcing people to pay for more storage even if 64 GB is more than enough. Apple isn't GIVING people anything. They are SELLING a product. Why do people somehow feel Apple is a charity.
If a better buying and usage experience makes the buyer happier and comes back for more because of it, then why not be charitable? Apple is one of few companies able to give its users a satisfying buying experience, but have not done so many times, like holding onto that skimpy 16GB storage on iPads and iPhones (yeah, people used to say it was enough too, but it wasn't a great experience having to constantly delete stuff), and also with that 128GB storage for entry level Macs (sure people could get by, but if you install all of Apple apps like GarageBand and such, space is tight). Amazon sometimes feels like a charity because of the deals they have.

if you have someone like that holding onto their phone for 2-3 years, 64gb is the least future proof tier to go with.
Really depends on the kind of usage. My mom will be fine with her 64 GB iPhone 8 for years to come.

64 GB IMHO is the perfect size currently for the entry level storage tier, so I'm really glad they made it that across the line. Didn't expect the iPhone 8 to both stay at 64 GB base and still go as low as 449 $.

i was making a point to someone saying 64gb is enough for some who doesn't take photos/video, and if thats the case might as well save 100 bucks and get the XR

Nobody cares. IF you can get by with 64GB, purchase the base model. If you can't, simply PAY Apple for the extra memory you need. Insisting Apple give you free stuff is astonishing (and if it were me, I'd be embarrassed whining about wanting free stuff in public).

If you can't afford Apple's phone, vote with your wallet and purchase one from another company.

Easy.

not even that much future proofing, with ios/apps/messages/email/ etc, realistically you got maybe 40-50gb of usable vid/pic storage.
Not really. On my heavily-used 8 I have 8000 photos (58GB library), 1000 songs (which I don’t really need since I have Apple Music), and almost 300 apps. The only thing I don’t store locally is vids. 16GB podcasts. Haven’t cleared out messages or their photos in forever and it’s only using 5.5GB. With all that, I still have over 100GB left of 256. I think getting a 64 is silly but even with 4K vid shooting, 256 is plenty unless you plan on storing all those huge video files locally for some reason.
