So they do make you open up the phone? I think swift unlocks makes you spend $20 to buy credit. I bought mine on eBay for $2.50 and it was done in 20 mins

From what I've read they make you open it. Although when I told the guy at the store that I wanted to activate it myself he seemed like he was going to let me (assuming he was about to sign me up for service). This was before I asked him to sell it full price though. Good to know there are good options on eBay though. Thank you.

When I called customer service they said I'd have to find a tmobile phone or wait until apple officially releases their unlocked version.
 
I got one! I walked-in with no reservations, no order for in-store pick-up. Walked out with a gold 32gb with Sprint.

I actually checked the in-store pick-up site before I went, and it said pick-up was NOT available. I went anyways and...aha!...they had one. It was their last one. Time of purchase was around 5:15.

Also, if anyone is in San Diego, the Mission Valley Best Buy had a few 64GB space greys with Verizon when I checked around 4:45.

Clearly this is not a real time inventory system. Well... I still wait for a 32 slate gray near me. I never thought that would be such a hard one to get my hands on seeing how gold/silver are in such high demand.

When was the last time a verizon phone became available? Seems like there aren't any.
 
So let's say you have a color you don't want. Can you reserve a phone through the website and exchange your phone for that one when you get to the store? Sorry I'm at work and could only scan the past 2 pages to see if this has been covered.

So you bought a color you don't want? You can't "reserve" a phone through the website. When you go through in-store pick-up, you PAY for the phone when you check out online.

Maybe you can outright BUY the color you actually want online and when you get to the store, return it, then exchange the one you already have?

Which apple store in San Diego was it?
 
I live on Long Island, NY and I have been constantly checking for a gold 32 or 64 gig model for AT&T.. Haven't seen one pop up at an apple store near me once!
Then around 1pm yesterday, Best Buys website showed they had 32 gb in stock at a store about half an hour from me. I called to make sure, and they said that they only had two so I rushed to pick it up. Walked out with my new phone in 15 minutes :)

I still sort of want the 64gb because my previous phone was 64 as well, and I would consider returning my new phone if 64 is available. I'm just not sure if it's worth the hassle of constantly checking for it, or if any one has been able to get a gold 64 gig around here at all..
 
The inventory that I have seen has appeared to be updated in real time, at least for the stores in my region. As I have watched them go from "available today" to "unavailable for pickup" and vice versa from one minute to the next.

So lucky. My store won't allow for walk ins
 
So here's my dilemma. I want to cancel my orders for my 5S, and neither Apple nor AT&T will let me do so.

I placed an order on via AT&T online on the 20th. I also found one today via Apple, which I placed an order for in-store pickup (a store about an hour and a half away), which they confirmed as mine and ready for pickup.

Received some adverse news tonight, so I decided to back off on the upgrading of my phone and save some money. I called Apple and they told me that I cannot cancel the order over the phone or online, and that they'd physically hold my order at this Apple store for months and months until I pick it up.

I then call AT&T and they tell me that since it's already an order Processing, that I can't cancel either AND that I can't purchase another phone and use it on my line until after I refuse shipment on this 5S that I ordered from them. Mind you, the AT&T order is in the October 21-29 date range.

What am I supposed to do... I'm ready to call Discover and flag both the charges because these cancellation policies are crazy!

Wow that's great for the people people that don't have tmobile. Did they by any chance release the same thing for tmobile?

Edit: Also there is a google chrome extension that makes a noise on your computer everytime a site updates and something changes on it and you can choose the time interval for updates:)

edit: lots of atnt 16gb space grey available in Seattle Wa and parts of California
