Update ! I called 4 different apple stores. They all said if you want device only. To be in line at the store 2 hours before they open. They will then hand you a card and you just hope they have the card you want.

I was able to score a 32gb gold (AT&T) today in the Bay Area (Calif). Just checked online and it says "ready for pick up."

Out of curiosity what store did you buy from? And most importantly when did you check when you saw they had it in stock? The Oakridge and Valley fair have been dryer than the sahara desert for gold

There's some iphone's showing in stock for pickup. The store is about 30 minutes away so i'm not sure if I will be able to make it tomorrow to pick it up. How long do they give you to pick up the order?

There will be a 16GB gold 5S available in the Willow Grove Park Apple store in PA. I was able to cancel my Pickup order just now with the help of a call from Discover Customer Service on the line.

I checked just a little after 3. I think it was 3:15 and it was at the Oakridge store. It's an hour away from me, but S.F. has had nothing since the first weekend.

online reserve doesn't let you and I don't want to risk making an atnt account with contract then cancel, what if they come up with some bogus eft or something then we get screwed. I'm hoping the tmobile ones come in some day this week in huge numbers like the atnt 16gb just did today

Because you can no longer walk into a store and get device only. Also, seems stupid to run a credit check just to get a phone then cancel to purchase at full price, which Apple is also blocking.

Besides, my job pays my bill. I can't add a phone anyway.

Just get to the apple store early. I've walked by mine the last couple days around 10 and there was a short line and they were handing out tickets until 11

I managed to snag a gold 64 gb AT&T model from the Lehigh Valley store in PA. I got home and was getting on my Mac to check availability when a friend who had checked for me now and then texted me that it was available. Order went through at 6:50 and I got the ready for pickup email 20 minutes later. The employees seemed a little surprised that I was able to find one.

I'm definitely glad I held out for gold.
