I don't understand this.If you order any phone from the Apple Store for in-store pickup, they HAVE that phone.I have never heard of anyone ordering and being turned away in the time I have been here.

3 separate people in store told me they did not have 32 GB gold for AT&T, despite their website showing otherwise. I asked them what would happen if I completed the order online. They said that stock isn't confirmed until you receive your email, telling you that they're ready for you. They said it could take days to receive that email if they don't have the product in stock.

So I guess my advice would be to use the website's availability indicator as a guideline, but don't count on it being accurate.

Hello from Reno.

Out of desperation to get away from Sprint and back on to AT&T, I picked up a 16GB 5S in silver last Tuesday, September 30th. Every day I've been checking stock of 32 and 64GB models, and nothing has come up, until today...

I see 32 GB gold models available in store, but I call the store and it's a mistake they say - because they sold out of their gold models hours ago.

I tell them about the inaccuracy of their tracker, and how it's still letting people order gold models, despite no availability - they didn't care. I also mention that if they had gold models, no one would have known, since the tracker didn't show them in stock until after 3pm. Again, they didn't care.

I only have one more week until I can't swap my phone. I'm going to have to call every hour to check availability, since the online tracker is so unreliable :(

Hello from Reno! I experienced this today as well. I checked online and it showed they had AT&T 32GB available in gold. I went right over and they told me nope- actually, they only have 16GB in silver available! I said, what? Online, you only show gold in stock, and no silver. I even showed him the Apple website on my phone. What's going on?

He punched something into his phone and said, "I don't know what to tell you..." I saw gold available for 2.5 hours, until about 5 minutes ago. And I never saw silver available until about 5 minutes ago, despite the staff telling me they had it in stock.

Maybe there is a lag in the system from so many people checking?

Finally got my gold att 64gb from Montgomery mall today... Tried earlier and failed... Around 6 it popped up again and score.. I was almost ready to give up

Last Monday at lunchtime, I went to the Bethesda store, and there was a short line for 5s even though they showed none on line. While in line, they said they had the grey 64gb I wanted, but by the time I got to the front, they were gone. I haven't seen any 64GBs since then on line between Richmond and Philly.

people line up after 10 am?

I hate to say it but they are lying to you.Generally when you order online for store pick up,you receive the e-mail in less than an hour.It is not you order and then when it arrives in days, you receive the confirmation e-mail.Doesn't work that way.It can be verified many times in this thread alone and has worked for the 5 & 5s.

Completely agreed with you. I ordered on via online and right after I ordered for in store pick up. I decided to call just to see what kind of stock they had. They proceeded to tell me that they only had 64 GB Space Grey Sprint phones (most unwanted of all the iPhone 5s). I blew that off went into the store picked up my iPhone 5s 32 GB gold AT&T. There is more truth on these forums than what apple retail employees will ever tell you.

To all those who don't trust the instore pick up. First hand experience of three total pick ups (for me and my brothers) they instore pick up works. No need to be indecisive and wait if you can order one via online and instore pick up it that day do it. Cancel your order afterwards. Dont bother calling before you order they will consistently tell you they dont have anything. JUST DO IT.

Hell yeah, 2AM EST

This has to be true and confirm it because before I went to bed at 12AM EST. It showed absolutely nothing on the east coast for a 64 iPhone 5S for Verizon in my area. Now 3 locations popped up when I woke up just now.

5:30 am EST - Just checked for inventory at 20 stores in FL and GA for ATT devices of any kind. Not one device available anywhere !!

There isn't any grey t-mobile on my area for a week now..
I hate apple guys now. send some iphone 5s to LA!

There aren't any unlocked Tmobile devices anywhere. One or two stores light up perhaps twice a day with 32Gb availability, and instantly get bought out.

After speaking with a store rep, it seems that the best way to obtain one is to line up at a store.

Okay further update. I just lined up at an Apple store and (10 minutes later) was told by an Apple employee that they had run out of phones. I got there at about 9:10AM, so I'll try again tomorrow around 8AM (given that the queue wasn't too long).

On another note: isn't there a limit to the number of phones you can buy in-person?? I saw some Chinese guy walk out with FIVE phones. That's completely unfair to anyone who isn't an obvious scalper.

I also had the urge to yell some choice profanities at him lol. I relented, however.

At my store they limited the sale to only two phone and your're right majority people who do line up are chineses who are obviously there to scalp

For those of you in Los Angeles who have been able to purchase a phone via the in-store pick up option, what times have worked out best for checking stock?

I live in Santa Monica and would like to get a gold or silver 64gb but every time I check all I see is unavailable. If anyone could clue me into better times to check I would appreciate it.

Keep refreshing between 11am-11:15am and again at 3pm-3:15pm

I have almost always seen stock become green during that window on the weekdays

And what exactly gives you the right to do that?

Let's see, you wanted to "yell some choice profanities" at someone because he bought five iPhone 5S's? - You know, the five phones he PAID for!

Really?

Apparently he was slicker than you. He was quicker. Wiser. He outnegotiated you.

You are a perfect example of how messed out our society is. I wish it was me buying those phones and that you did actually shout profanities at me. Your only choice at that point would be to try and duck my fist from smashing into your face.

Then I'd go back in, buy another five phones just to piss you off, open them all up, and return them later.

Stop me. Good luck.

Multiple people could have ordered online and designated the Chinese guy as the pick up person. Two iPhones are allowed per order so for 5 it would have been 3 orders.

The system is there and it's there to be exploited. If you can exploit it legally, why not do it?

The reason why some people have the new iPhone 5S of their choice and others don't is because some people are more crafty than others.

Let's be honest, you're here for a reason. And it's to see how you can get your hands on a phone ASAP.
