That's just plain dumb on your part. You got nobody to blame but yourself. Those Asians outsmarted you. They can buy and sell hundreds of iPhones, be it for their "friends" or "family". And why shouldn't they?

Actually, two of the times I came across an Asian gaggle of scalpers, they had forced entry into the mall before it opened. They forced opened the sliding doors (yes, I witnessed it) at 5:30am when the mall doors open at 6am.

Funny thing, each of those 3 mornings I (admittedly stupidly) went to the mall, Apple basically refused to sell them phones (they told everyone in the line they didn't have phones). The very same day, I install Page Monitor on Chrome and score 2 gold AT&T's (64 gb and 32 gb). Who has the phones now? Who's the idiots now?

I'm the MD/DV/VA area, Apple is turning the lines away in the AM and only selling as in-store pick-up. It's the only was to "outsmart" (as you say) these scalpers.

Our society is messed up...especially when you say Chinese. He/they could've been Vietnamese, Korean, or some other nationality.

In my case, my wife is Chinese and speaks it fluently. They were Chinese. I have nothing against Chinese people, but if you've ever had to wait in queues to get food in Communist chinese (as my wife had to when she grew up), you'd know that when it comes to line, they are some of the most vicious, uncivilized people on earth. There is a real reason Apple went solely to a reservation system in China to sell the iPhone.
 
I finally did see gold ATT show up online in SoCal but all 16s (and they went in about two minutes).

The Apple Store app won't work on my 4s because it insists on me upgrading my iOS which I don't want. Apple, please don't launch a product when you don't have enough inventory.
 
wow am I lucky...I returned my silver 5s and just now purchased a gold for pickup...

I want to exchange my Space Grey for silver. How did you do this? Did you reserve another one online and exchange when you got there? Or did you just walk in?

I am wondering how this works. Did you return it to a store or ship it back? I purchased a 32GB silver for in store pick-up on 10/1. Decided I wanted to get the 64GB. Went to my local Apple store last night and I was told I was not able to return it to the store and had to ship it back it apple.com. The person helping me called Apple and was told because my receipt showed $0.00, the store couldn't return it. Now, it is a waiting game for my eligibility to be restored. I wonder if I would have been able to exchange (versus return) if there had been stock? Oh, well. Waiting won't kill me. LOL.
 
Silver 16g AT&T available in 11 places in SE and only 10 places for Gray.That's a 1st.Using area code 33912.No gold.
EDIT:Still more silver than gray at 430p ET-never seen that before.

Transaction time counts, so use the Apple Store App. Your already halfway there by setting up and using express checkout. Good luck.
 
plenty of golds available for sprint in south florida via apple store....still waiting for space gray!
 
Houston seems to have 16GB AT&T Silver in a couple of locations & 16GB AT&T Grey in almost all locations. No Gold though.

But, I felt the urge to call another apple store in Manhaset who told me they could return my online order in store. Went to the store and was out in 5minutes with my upgrade showing on my account within 1-2 minutes.

Came back home and purchased a Gold via pick up.

Thanks. I was lucky when I got my 64GB Space Grey as this was before online pick up and the store had a few in the middle of the day. It was a business account, so I can't do store pick up now to get a Silver as I don't have access to my company's Verizon account. I guess they don't let you do a swap even if they have inventory according to their web site?

Add the phone you want in cart before hand. It will save it there for you so the only thing you would then need to do is pick the store. Confirm the credit card and done. I used the website and had the 64 gold AT&T already in my cart, took me 10-15 seconds to complete transaction.

Where are you located? And if you want verizon you'll have better luck. AT&T are hard to find.

North America, Switching from Verizon to AT&T. I watched the tracker all last week and last night. Phones are delivered to the stores in my area between 5:30pm-6:30pm. Last night there were only a couple golds delivered to a couple stores, seems like all colors on AT&T were lacking though last night. Verizon had a ton though. I figure tonight AT&T will get a healthy dose of them.

My travel limit is 1hr to the store. Ya far to drive, but wtf in the end it will be better than watching this crap for 3-4hrs a day...

apple.com is the least up-to-date,
apple store iphone apps is more update-to-date
when adding to cart, the information is even more up-to-date
But the only accurate information is whether you could successfully check out or not...
It sucks
