I remember when Apple limited the number of iPhones that could be purchased with the same credit card number. It cut down on scalpers.

Now it's 2 iPhones per order or visit. I've seen people wait in line, buy 2, then cut back in line with a friend waiting behind them and buy two more. It sucks but those are the rules.

And what exactly gives you the right to do that?

Let's see, you wanted to "yell some choice profanities" at someone because he bought five iPhone 5S's? - You know, the five phones he PAID for!

Really?

Apparently he was slicker than you. He was quicker. Wiser. He outnegotiated you.

You are a perfect example of how messed out our society is. I wish it was me buying those phones and that you did actually shout profanities at me. Your only choice at that point would be to try and duck my fist from smashing into your face.

Then I'd go back in, buy another five phones just to piss you off, open them all up, and return them later.

Stop me. Good luck.

lol, i love this!

Maybe there is a lag in the system from so many people checking?

Yeah, I've pretty much given up on the online tracker. It's accurate sometimes, but more often not.

I'm calling the store every hour to see what they have in stock versus what the website shows. As of this morning, it only shows 16GB 5S in silver for AT&T. Store told me they had the same thing in stock.

I'll try again in an hour...

----------

I hate to say it but they are lying to you.Generally when you order online for store pick up,you receive the e-mail in less than an hour.It is not you order and then when it arrives in days, you receive the confirmation e-mail.Doesn't work that way.It can be verified many times in this thread alone and has worked for the 5 & 5s.

I seriously doubt I was lied to. They probably didn't have any stock, despite what the website said. If I was to order one, I would have to wait to receive the "We're ready for you" email, which would not get sent if they didn't physically have a phone to sell me.

I just came back from returning my silver 5s to apple, however it wasn't a smooth transaction. I first get to Rooseveltfield Apple and the service rep tells me they don't do returns on iphones purchased apple.com. That's news to me. So I had to go to Manhaset Apple, where they did the return without issues...

Now, hopefully I can grab a gold Sprint via apple's local pickup service...

TIME TO CLEAR THE AIR lol

1. The line was only for people to get tickets and buy inventory, not pickups, orders, etc. People with pickups were allowed right in the store. Something makes me think that he might intend to resell those. He can do that, I just wish I didn't have to deal with that. Didn't think that was so horrible.

2. I'm not sure how productive it is to threaten people online. That said, I'm a fairly large, athletic guy and my mean face has, historically, been enough to dissuade potential altercations.

But you probably graduated top of your class in the Navy Seals and have over 300 confirmed kills, with "gorilla" warfare training, etc.

3. I said I felt like yelling, but didn't. I thought that was a pretty okay reaction by me, to be honest lol.

So, let's all just chill.

Edit: I just can't shake the thought that your next reply would have been something like this lol:

Our society is messed up...especially when you say Chinese. He/they could've been Vietnamese, Korean, or some other nationality.

Our society is messed up...especially when you say Chinese. He/they could've been Vietnamese, Korean, or some other nationality. Next time, just say Asians.

I speak Mandarin, the guy was speaking Mando on the phone, I'm thinking it was a pretty solid guess. I mean really, people in this thread have been knocking Asians for standing online the whole time. All I said was that a Chinese guy beat me to it. I'm not sure that it's all that bad.

If people see Asians in an Apple store line they assume they are scalpers.

I've been lining up for the iphone 5s every morning trying to get one. Well okay, not every morning -- just Tues, Weds, Thurs (only mornings I'm free). I can't come in the afternoon or evening due to my schedule, and I can't order online for reasons I won't get into (not hard to guess)

Anyway, I see the same 5 or 6 asian people at the front of the line every day. They arrive very early, at least 90 or 120 minutes before opening. And yet I have not been able to score one for myself. The tickets are already taken by the time I get there ... imagine that!

I'm not going to resort to name calling or anger but I do think it is wrong and a little sad that people make their money this way. Yes, I'm biased against scalpers and proud of it.

Call it a stereotype, racism, call it whatever you want -- the truth is the truth, I see more chinese doing this than anyone else. In my area, of course.

Can someone please confirm which times exactly does Apple normally restock for pickup? Was it 3pm est?

Shipments arrive at different times every day. This is to prevent people from mobbing the store when a shipment comes in.

Seriously?

Here we go again.

So you KNOW that the same people are getting there early to buy more iPhones every day, yet you still complain about them beating you there in the morning?

How about you get your lazy a$$ there BEFORE they do?! That would have solved your problem and saved a lot of time that you already wasted by coming late every other day (it seems).

That's just plain dumb on your part. You got nobody to blame but yourself. Those Asians outsmarted you. They can buy and sell hundreds of iPhones, be it for their "friends" or "family". And why shouldn't they?

I get a kick out of all the posts with sheeple complaining about someone else snatching an iPhone from under their nose. Too freakin bad!

First come first serve b!t**es!

Can you tell us what your problem is? Let's talk this out buddy. I'm sure we can help you lol. We're just lamenting about our inability to get there in time and about the common trouble of competition that exists in our capitalist world.

If you applied this attitude to the rest of your life, you'd be making a ton of money and wouldn't care about what anyone on a message board was saying. But since you're here yelling at us over this, I'm going to assume that you don't and that getting a 5S was a pretty big victory for you.

Just give it a rest. Some of us can't go Kanye-style HAM to get a phone because we have careers/families/responsibilities. Until we do get it, we'll be here discussing our experiences.

I went on a Thursday, Friday, and a Monday morning to look for a phone. Got there at 6am each time, when the mall actually opens. Each day there was a group of 8 Chinese people (I know this because I brought my wife one day and she speaks fluent Chinese) - the same group. 2 of those mornings they got into verbal arguments with people in line and mall cops. Based on what they were saying, they were definitely scalpers.

The best way to do this in in-store pick-up, which is scalper proof and Apple knows this. This is why they were "out of iPhones" each of those mornings I went.

Gold Sprint 16 and 32 available at Pentagon City - after waiting this long I think I'm skipping the upgrade and waiting for iphone 6 after the new bigger screen rumors. Anyways hope this news helps any DC Sprint people that have been waiting.

Do you think that TMobile stock is what gets sold to people who wait in queue in the mornings? It would make sense given that there is virtually no t-mobile stock during the day.

I saw a 32GB T-Mobile model for a split second for online pick up, of course by the time I refreshed the page it was gone. :( I visited the SoHo store earlier today, and there is a small line of scalpers.
