Quick question: I'm thinking of canceling my online order for a Gold model (considering I didn't place the order until late Saturday).

How quickly will my AT&T upgrade reset and do I need to contact either Apple or AT&T to do this?

From reading a few pages back, people are saying it takes minutes...

I just cancelled my order via apple's website and was eligible for upgrade in about ten minutes....

Don't think so because I believe Apple uses FedEx and they only deliver once a day. That is, unless, Apple also contracts with UPS but we're talking about Tim Cook here so that won't happen. Too inefficient.

I see thank you. I just remembered I went to my local apple store Saturday morning and they gave out tickets about 15 to be exact. So i missed out then. Went back to the mall during the afternoon around 2 that same day and they had more that just came in. So i guess it varies they could have fed ex drop off two deliveries in a day. We will see.

Lots of silver in the Raleigh/Durham area. Both at Crabtree and Southpoint AT&T stores.

Currently checking the pickup availability for an unlocked gold 5s in TX like a maniac . Anyone else managed to get one in and around TX this way today?

Right now it reckons there are heaps of unlocked 64Gb space greys available around Houston.

Just got back from the gym and saw that one of my local Apple Retail stores (Novi, MI) has a 32GB AT&T Gold iPhone 5S in stock! Cancelled my online order and entered a in-store pick-up request. Currently waiting for an email confirmation that I can pick up the device.

Between my heart pumping from the gym and finding out the my first choice is in stock I am definitely testing my own mortality

I had a Gold 16 gb AT&T ordered on Friday (7-10 day shipping). Saw that 32 and 64 gb silver and gold were coming back into stock in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so I called apple to cancel order. He said it would take "15 minutes - 24 hours" to restore eligibility.

Luckily it didn't go OOS, because it took about 10 minutes before I could place the order as an upgrade. Went up to a 32, but I actually had regretted ordering a 16 in the first place. So it's all good.

Guess it pays off to keep checking/stalking...

You my friend are the story we're all hoping for! If it let you complete checkout then your all good :)

Well, this makes things a little easier. Cancelled my order, and now there's a 64GB 5s waiting for me to pick up after work. What a lot of fuss over nothing...

Yup, just received my "we're ready for you" email :).

For anyone in the Novi, MI area, the Apple Store at Twelve Oaks Mall is still showing inventory for the AT&T 32GB and 64GB Gold iPhone 5s models.

Looks like most of the Northern NJ stores got inventory. Ordered a 32gb Space Gray at GSP.

Tices Corner(town next to me) has a 64gb silver -_-, same one I have scheduled for delivery on wednesday, after camping the online store.

I just went to the Apple Store in Aventura, Florida. There was a huge line waiting to see if they could get the phone.

I went inside used a computer for instore pick up. Waited 20 minutes on a stool, got my phone and the great associate let me change it to an unlocked ATT out of contract instead of a 2 year contract online because there wasn't an option to buy it outright on apple.com

Sounds like you should be working at the genius bar...

I was there earlier today and they were sold out. Must've gotten a mid day delivery after I left around noon.

If you do in store pickup do you have to wait in line with everyone else waiting for a phone?>

No, you won't have to wait in line for those who have not reserved the phone.

yes, you will have to wait for other's who also reserved the phone. But that line is probably going to be pretty short. I did that last year, and the reserved line was about 4 people vs. 20+ people just waiting to see if they get lucky.

How did you manage to do that? The online system forces you to either create a new contract, or enter your information to look up your carriers info to see if you are eligible for an upgrade. If I dont have an account with any carrier, I dont see how to bypass all those options and just buy contract free.
