Wow. Can't get a T-Mobile version for anything. Seriously. Apple must be making a killing off the poor and cheap by profiting from selling contracts.

It's completely impossible to get an unlocked iPhone 5s in NYC. The few that showed up just now, sold out in a few seconds. My freaking online order hasn't moved at all either.

First world problem is a real problem. Those of us with disposable income are the ones that are getting burned.

This, by the time I clicked checkout, i was redirected back to my cart saying it wasn't available... I guess we'll have to try again tomorrow.

Go to a store in the early AM and pick one up. I ordered online on the 21st, got desperate and cancelled to use the in-store pickup. I'm here in NYC too and I agree that it's impossible. The reason there are so few is because store stock gets used for people who walk in in the mornings, then later in the day they put the rest online.

I went to a store in Yonkers (Ridge Hill) and they had everything, including T-Mobile. I wanted to get that one but wound up with the Verizon instead since they let me buy it off-contract without setting up an account.

If you have work, go on the weekend. Go early to avoid the scalpers, though.

HOLY shiiii that pisses me off. Twice I went to Ridge Hill, twice they said they can't sell me the Verizon model without signing a contract. Second time was at 10AM when they opened.

What the heck with the random people getting random help at stores? Maybe it's because I am Indian they think I am going to sell it overseas?

What the freaking heck man...wow, you completely messed up my day...lol

EDIT: Just wow. Seriously. I can't believe you went in and bought one.

I can not see why they'd say that. Myself and everyone else in line bought off-contract devices. I only bought one since I actually need a phone lol but the scalpers got 2 devices each. Yesterday some guy bought like 5, and I'm guessing that was a mistake by whoever was running the store.

Go early and line up. They'll give you a ticket for the phone you want (and will run out of tickets by 9AM ish) and once you walk in there shouldn't be any issues.

They were so nice to me lol, it had to have been a mistake in your case. The whole transaction took no more than 60 seconds once it was my turn.

I don't see how last week on tues. I found a sprint 16gb silver at my apple store (Va)
it was available for maybe 30 min. too.
and this week I've been checking, and nothing, not even in other stores near me. just kinda weird to me.

I had just bought one on last Monday night , then tues. i checked and it was there.

=\

edit: now I see a few popping up in the Va / Nc area

Different stores have different rules. It happened when I was buying iphone5. Stanford shopping center sold non-contract iphone while palo alto store didn't

This, by FAR, is the best way to get a 5S. For people still wanting a phone, even a gold one, go back 10 pages and follow the Page Monitor Chrome extension instructions. I also see updates occurring between 2-2:30pm EST. I guarantee you will score a phone in 1-2 days. I picked up 2 gold AT&T iPhones in the last 2 days. Do not bother to wait in line in the AM. You won't beat the scalpers at that game.

What state? I haven't been able to find any for Georgia...I need at 16GB Gold AT&T.

Gold stock just popped up in northern VA area.
I'm too scared to cancel my online order in fear that I'll miss the in-store pick up even though I probably could have snagged one by now :x

I'm going to have to provide a second opinion on this lol. I think that the in-store pickup might be highly case-dependent. For myself and many others here in NYC, in-store pickup and the page monitor app are completely useless due to how insanely fast phones get snagged up.

From my experience, I really think that the best thing to do in NYC is line up very early. Apple stores here only use leftover stock for in-store pickup, which further limits availability.

It totally depends on what area you live in and what carrier you want. Some stores (e.g. those in the San Francisco Bay Area) have had ZERO supplies of gold AT&T phones in the 32gb or 64gb size. Occasionally there will be a 16gb one available. I have checked every day at 2pm-2:30pm EST as well as at 6-6:30pm EST (when availability seems to spike for others). Nothing. Nada.

So, no, you can't "guarantee" scoring a phone in 1-2 days, unless you mean any phone size or carrier, then perhaps yes.

I've been able to purchase two iphones in the last week in NYC via in-store pickup. I picked up a gold 16gb for AT&T today, and last week I picked up a 16gb silver for AT&T as well. I cancelled my order thru AT&T because I was given a ship date of Oct. 21st - Oct. 30th. I really think it's a good system that works, just have to know when to look. I snagged mine at 2pm and then 5pm. Good luck with your search.

I got one just this morning after struggling with in-store pickup for a week. Praise the lawd lol.

This is the first time that I shell out a ton of cash for a gadget and don't feel buyer's remorse. Quite satisfied :D

Initially I purchased the silver one, but I really wanted the gold all along so I exchanged the silver. I ended up adding a line to get the gold one and then returned the silver. Bit of a headache but it was worth it. Cheers!

So, who in So California got the Verizon GOLD 64 ? I saw it for a split decpnd under Americana at Brand GLENDALE, CA.

I got one pretty easy last week on 5th ave apple store. Around 11pm they got stock. Picked up a silver 32gb Verizon.

Does anyone know if apple restocks over night and posts In store Pick-ups?

They get shipments at night and during the day, if I'm not mistaken (I could be). From my observation of NYC locations, Apple stores will use most of their stock for walk-ins, and leave any left over phones for online purchase.

So the phones available for people who line up outnumber phones available for online purchase.

Anyone with better information should feel free to correct me.
