What state? I haven't been able to find any for Georgia...I need at 16GB Gold AT&T.
I'm going to have to provide a second opinion on this lol. I think that the in-store pickup might be highly case-dependent. For myself and many others here in NYC, in-store pickup and the page monitor app are completely useless due to how insanely fast phones get snagged up.
It totally depends on what area you live in and what carrier you want. Some stores (e.g. those in the San Francisco Bay Area) have had ZERO supplies of gold AT&T phones in the 32gb or 64gb size. Occasionally there will be a 16gb one available. I have checked every day at 2pm-2:30pm EST as well as at 6-6:30pm EST (when availability seems to spike for others). Nothing. Nada.
So, no, you can't "guarantee" scoring a phone in 1-2 days, unless you mean any phone size or carrier, then perhaps yes.
Drove 2 hours today to pick mine up. Flawless, thank God. I'll never go through this crap again.
I've been able to purchase two iphones in the last week in NYC via in-store pickup. I picked up a gold 16gb for AT&T today, and last week I picked up a 16gb silver for AT&T as well. I cancelled my order thru AT&T because I was given a ship date of Oct. 21st - Oct. 30th. I really think it's a good system that works, just have to know when to look. I snagged mine at 2pm and then 5pm. Good luck with your search.
This, by FAR, is the best way to get a 5S. For people still wanting a phone, even a gold one, go back 10 pages and follow the Page Monitor Chrome extension instructions. I also see updates occurring between 2-2:30pm EST. I guarantee you will score a phone in 1-2 days. I picked up 2 gold AT&T iPhones in the last 2 days. Do not bother to wait in line in the AM. You won't beat the scalpers at that game.
If you already have an iOS device, don't bother with the Apple Store website using Safari. Use the Apple Store app only. Enable one-click purchasing, already enter in your upgrade/carrier information, and snipe away.
Am I mistaken - tried to follow your advice but it doesn't offer the T-Mobile option (non-contract - pay full price, offered on Apple Store website) - which is what I need.![]()

Make your purchase in the Apple Store app as if you're buying the contract version. When you get to the store to pick it up tell them you changed your mind and you'd like to buy it device only. They will process a refund then sell you the device full priced.

Just need to be looking at the right times. I've seen AT&T Gold show up in Twelve Oaks in all capacities twice (both times on Monday) in the last two weeks. Not in MI. The tracker literally has not shown one Gold AT&T model of any size in Michigan in the 13 days I've been watching it.
(This is excluding G-Rap, since that is west side and further away than some Ohio stores for me.)
Why does AAPL hate MI?
BonerSpaghetti OUT!

I went to my local Apple store this morning to see if there would be a line for the iPhone but there wasn't. There was some 9am iCloud class that was there (they open at 10) and I walked and spoke to an employee. They only had a grey 16GB Verizon they could sell me but I need at least 32GB.
I kept checking http://iphone-check.herokuapp.com all day long to see what stock is available and bam! Just after I picked up lunch, I checked the available stock again to find there was 64GB Gold Verizon.
I immediately rushed to store and asked the greeter about the 64AuV stock and he told he'd have an associate come talk to me. I wait around 10 minutes constantly checking the website and Apple's own site to make sure they still had stock. An associate did come but told me the website status is inaccurate and there's a definite chance the iPhone I've been waiting for will be gone before they come out with it.
Finally, there it was... My new iPhone. The associate, without asking, knew I wanted the device only option. With no issues or hassles, I paid and walked out.
I couldn't believe I pulled this off during the lunch hour, as a walk-in and with customers steadily pouring into the store.
64AuV(ictory).
