What state? I haven't been able to find any for Georgia...I need at 16GB Gold AT&T.

Maryland. Mine were 32 and 64 gb, but I did see 16 gb pop up in Baltimore.

----------

I'm going to have to provide a second opinion on this lol. I think that the in-store pickup might be highly case-dependent. For myself and many others here in NYC, in-store pickup and the page monitor app are completely useless due to how insanely fast phones get snagged up.

It's true. You have to be fast. If you already have an iOS device, don't bother with the Apple Store website using Safari. Use the Apple Store app only. Enable one-click purchasing, already enter in your upgrade/carrier information, and snipe away. I only was beaten once when a store in Baltimore (45 min away) didn't show up on my stores close by.

----------

It totally depends on what area you live in and what carrier you want. Some stores (e.g. those in the San Francisco Bay Area) have had ZERO supplies of gold AT&T phones in the 32gb or 64gb size. Occasionally there will be a 16gb one available. I have checked every day at 2pm-2:30pm EST as well as at 6-6:30pm EST (when availability seems to spike for others). Nothing. Nada.

So, no, you can't "guarantee" scoring a phone in 1-2 days, unless you mean any phone size or carrier, then perhaps yes.

It probably does. Mine were AT&T 64 and 32 gb golds. I didn't see many 16's. I guess I'm exaggerating on the 1-2 day bit, but just trying to give people hope. It can be done, certainly by a week. And you need to make it your job.

I've been able to purchase two iphones in the last week in NYC via in-store pickup. I picked up a gold 16gb for AT&T today, and last week I picked up a 16gb silver for AT&T as well. I cancelled my order thru AT&T because I was given a ship date of Oct. 21st - Oct. 30th. I really think it's a good system that works, just have to know when to look. I snagged mine at 2pm and then 5pm. Good luck with your search.

It's easy to pick one up if you are buying with contract.

This, by FAR, is the best way to get a 5S. For people still wanting a phone, even a gold one, go back 10 pages and follow the Page Monitor Chrome extension instructions. I also see updates occurring between 2-2:30pm EST. I guarantee you will score a phone in 1-2 days. I picked up 2 gold AT&T iPhones in the last 2 days. Do not bother to wait in line in the AM. You won't beat the scalpers at that game.

Not in MI. The tracker literally has not shown one Gold AT&T model of any size in Michigan in the 13 days I've been watching it.

(This is excluding G-Rap, since that is west side and further away than some Ohio stores for me.)

Why does AAPL hate MI?

Am I mistaken - tried to follow your advice but it doesn't offer the T-Mobile option (non-contract - pay full price, offered on Apple Store website) - which is what I need.

Correct. It's impossible to get a T-Mobile version...lol :D

Make your purchase in the Apple Store app as if you're buying the contract version. When you get to the store to pick it up tell them you changed your mind and you'd like to buy it device only. They will process a refund then sell you the device full priced.

But the T-Mobile phone comes with a nano sim T-Mobile card - which I MUST have because I'm exchanging my 5C (ordered thru Apple Online Store/rec'd. on 20th Sept.) for the 5S - and will swap the sim I've been using since then - and put it into the new 5S - and put the brand new card into the C before returning that phone...... if you see what I mean
That said......don't think (?) I can use the iOS7 App....

They will run your credit if you do this. Some people are concerned about inquiries on their credit report.

Just need to be looking at the right times. I've seen AT&T Gold show up in Twelve Oaks in all capacities twice (both times on Monday) in the last two weeks.

I don't buy this at all, I've been like a bloodhound checking at the appropriate times within the Apple Store app as well as using the tracker w/page monitor extension and I've seen literally nothing in any of the 4 SE MI locations.

I have to imagine people are lined up every morning sniping these gold phones in MI because the stock literally has not updated once in the last 2 weeks that I've seen. It's not like I see 'em and get beat, there are literally none to be seen.

Any idea what times you checked? Any tips are appreciated but I've got a real tough time believing you've seen them once, nonetheless twice, simply based on my own experience.

I'm about to try standing in line early tomorrow/this weekend and if that doesn't work I'm just going to give into the frustration and wait until it's widely available...

I went to my local Apple store this morning to see if there would be a line for the iPhone but there wasn't. There was some 9am iCloud class that was there (they open at 10) and I walked and spoke to an employee. They only had a grey 16GB Verizon they could sell me but I need at least 32GB.

I kept checking http://iphone-check.herokuapp.com all day long to see what stock is available and bam! Just after I picked up lunch, I checked the available stock again to find there was 64GB Gold Verizon.

I immediately rushed to store and asked the greeter about the 64AuV stock and he told he'd have an associate come talk to me. I wait around 10 minutes constantly checking the website and Apple's own site to make sure they still had stock. An associate did come but told me the website status is inaccurate and there's a definite chance the iPhone I've been waiting for will be gone before they come out with it.

Finally, there it was... My new iPhone. The associate, without asking, knew I wanted the device only option. With no issues or hassles, I paid and walked out.

I couldn't believe I pulled this off during the lunch hour, as a walk-in and with customers steadily pouring into the store.

Placed an order for pick up of a verizon 64 gold in Houston, signed up for new account and everything. Order was processed, got an email saying its in process.

Look on my phone about an hour later and check order status, now it says "cancelled"!

Contacted apple via phone and according to their computer, it says "customer changed mind and cancelled order", which is complete BS as I would have been the only one to cancel it.

Will see what apple can do to fix this, but doubt anything as its now out of stock. I'm more worried that someone has my account info and was able to cancel it somehow.

Good deal. Glad you got what you wanted.

seems nearly impossible to get a verizon 32gb 5s in nyc. i've been stalking the tracking site and once the status changed to "available for pick up" for the 5th ave store, i jumped on it. got thru check out but by the time i got to "processing", it was already out of stock. sigh.

i'm considering getting in line tomorrow morning. but with nyc being notorious for scalpers, what are my chances of actually getting a phone w/o having to camp out overnight (lady i spoke to at 5th ave said that people actually do this still.)

check it out: sign up to receive an email when a phone becomes available!

:D
