Seriously, even the article about the 20$ iPod touch software didn't cause as much fury as this! This is really incredible. I predict by the end of next week Robbers will change their plan.

ORLY?

And the sky will rain gumdrops and the trees will grow donuts.

What? That is depressing, but now if I hear someone complaining about AT&T's rates, I can put them over here. There is no reason why the prices of those "plans" should be so high. Canadians, you guys need to get a new provider. I currently pay $104.change for like 600 mins, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited text, unlimited data etc etc. Wow, Rogers. Wow.

The ridiculous price Roger charges shouldn't excuse AT&T for their plan.

Why not? didnt you see some of the email people have been receiving back...they said the plans aren't final.

Nobody is going to buy this thing at these prices. Maybe im just too optimistic...

ummm you joking right? I have yet to see Rogers step up to the plate of anything in there life...

This pricing is ridiculous - the first thing I thought when I read it was that Rogers is backstabbing Apple and trying to screw them over. It makes no sense. Then I went to Rogers' website and saw that their evenings (for the iPhone) start at 9 pm??? Yikes!

It will cost me an extra $66/month + taxes for the iPhone (compared to my current Rogers plan)... And for my fiancee to switch over to the iPhone it will cost about an extra $30 or so (compared to her current Fido plan) just to maintain the same amount of minutes and features (not including data).

We were planning on buying two iPhones on July 11, but now, as bad as we both want one, I'm thinking we should all boycott the iPhone until Apple forces Rogers to be a little realistic. This is bad news for the Canadian consumer and even worse news for Apple.

I just purchased iPhonePetition.ca - hopefully we can get something up soon. If you can help with this in any way, please contact me by email.
That's awesome! Very cool. I want to help.

Not much I can do I could offer you web space and hosting I could even set you forums for just about rogers and this type of thing if you like. But really we need make a very standing out graphical site that is not just a petition but a info site with updates on customer emails received and such when they have complained or sent in a petition and such.

I'm not good at graphical sites at all but I think a really outstanding one would work well.. Your on mac forum's I'm sure someone here is good in PS ;)

Unless the plans hurt Rogers directly, nothing will happen... Not even Jobs- I mean Jesus can stop this.

Ohh maybe we can stop rogers after all! How about the Big Bang!

Yes. Yes you are.

Time to get realistic. People will buy it.

You are forgetting that typically it's the complainers (but justified in this case) that make their voices heard in threads like this.

"If you build it, they will come......"

i would think rogers has created a last minute surprise announcement plan to counter bad public/press reaction. Say, "free" caller id across the board and unlimited data on the most expensive plan. the ol' lower expectations routine. or is this just empty hope?

Costco - often more expensive compared to Superstore
Safeway - often more expensive compared to Superstore, Save-on Foods, Thrifty Foods
Sears - limited selection, poorer quality yet not cheaper than Hudson's Bay.
Starbucks - Some people prefer Serious Coffee, Blenz, Mirage Coffee or Tim Horton's.

I'll keep my universal healthcare and slightly less corrupt government thanks.

As for this Rogers plan, I'm not too happy about it but it is better than before and Caller ID can be added on by itself outside of a value pack.
Costco - The largest membership warehouse club chain in the world
Safeway - North America's third largest supermarket chain
Sears - You got me there, but Wikipedia says there is a Sears location within a 10-minute drive of 93% of Canadians
Starbucks - The largest coffeehouse company in the world.

You forgot Wal-Mart and BestBuy (FutureShop).

I can understand not wanting an "American takeover" but its not exactly like their protected from it now. Besides, it seems Rogers needs a little competition. Those plans are ridiculous!

Dang. This sucks.
The most ridiculous thing is that youll be paying 75 a month MINIMUM and you don't even get caller ID!!

So absolutely 0% chance they change the rates because of the negative reaction? lol

I suggest people keep linking these posts and stuff like the 90+ % negetive ratings and everything in your blogs.. If your blog is about art its time to make your first blog on the business Rogers provides to Canada..

It is time now to take control and tell everyone what we have to face in Canada!

It's a beautiful day in your neighborhood...

...Oh, hi neighbor. I have something here I'd like to rape you with.
Can you say "Mon-op-oly"? mm-hmm, sure.

No. They will not change anything. It will make them look like a bunch of amateurs that don't know what they are doing. They have to look strong for the investors. Don't you think they did a crapload of research to figure out these rates? If they change the rates, a whole bunch of people will have to be fired. Won't happen. Have you seen the rates in other countries? There are some pretty bad plans in other countries too. Do you think that Canada is the only country with god-awful rates?

For Rogers, it's about the "all ighty ollar".

Sucks- don't it?

We'll Need a Shame Patrol

We need people to protest at all the Rogers retail stores on the launch date, and then boo all the people who come out with iPhones and shame them.

That will get some attention.

BOYCOTT launch day. Yes, even YOU fanboys.

If nothing changes, we need to somehow try to get everyone to boycott on July 11th - even the people that are still going to buy it no matter what the price is. How big of a message would that send if they had all the security etc... ready for the launch and no one shows up!? We need to get the word out! So, fanboys, please try to wait at least a couple days before you run in there... go on the 13th, or whatever, and get your friends to do the same. The iPhone will still be there, a couple more days wont hurt and Rogers will have gotten the message.

Who's with me?

I'm also in for a boycott but I just don't know anyone that be willing to do it in Barrie.. I know there is a rogers by Future Shop on bayfield.

That's not going to work. This is why we need the shame patrol. See my last post.

You know there's going to be media at the Rogers Store on Jarvis St (the flagship store) here in Toronto. That is the location which should be targeted the morning of July 11th to generate maximum embarrassment.

The protesters should be loud, rowdy, and yell at the sheep in line as if they're a labor union, and the queued buyers are scabs.

*sigh*

60 a month without unlimited data? Ouch, plus SAF plus 911 plus tax? Hmmm yeah....no.... the dream was nice for a while. God we get gouged here in Canada when it comes to this stuff.

But I'm sure all the rich kids on campus will have them, daddy pays the bills.

*heavier sigh*

and on a side note, I really wish companies couldn't advertise with including all the extras. No, that plan isn't $60 a month, its over $80. No that can of Coke isn't $.99, it's $1.16 after tax + deposit. Not cool.

Personally, I'd rather try to convince everyone, even those willing to pay these ridiculous prices to wait a couple days after it is released. This will blow their launch day and definitely send the message. I don't think harassing people is going to be any more effective.

Unlimited incoming texts? Do you Canadians normally have to pay for incoming texts!?!?

And I thought we were getting ripped off here in the UK!
