I hope that Rogers is changing pricings, and not just changing the outline to a shaded in picture of the iPhone.

Wow... Rogers Looks Stupid.

Which begs the question, if average use really was 100MB, in a country that offered unlimited data packages, why on earth would Rogers not just offer unlimited data here?

*Rhetorical question ... the whole company was built on convoluted, byzantine plans and not respecting customers ...

Considering they were being charged 5¢/KB, no WONDER ppl were watching their data like hawks.

Ask the ppl who were able to apply FIDO's Wireless WAP plan to their G1 iPhones how much data THEY used a month on average.

If the people I know who have one are any indication, the answer would be: A lot.

Thanks but I mean nothing new since we already know everyone is better then rogers lol...

But I mean we all buy from rogers and cancel right off the bat heck I would and switch to bell.. But then again bell has no GSM..

But on CBC news world they said within a year or so there will be new GSM providers coming and well I would guess a instant Iphone if not who cares since we can just buy them online or rogers and cancel..

Best way to support lowering rates?
- Cancel all your Rogers services and tell them your leaving do to there insane iPhone rates and feel like its wrong to support a company that will scam its loyal ahhh past loyal customers.

I'm still debating it...as I'm now 30 and haven't yet bought a cell phone. I'm now realizing I can't delay it anymore (especially as I need it for work). As a result I think I may end up getting one and either sticking to voice only (no visual voicemail, no data) or if I can't get a 1 year plan...buying and cancelling then signing up for a 1 year family plan with my wife (I realise I'd have to pay the 400$ fee but that's the same as AT&T is selling it for in the US. As my issue is with data costs the answer is simple...I won't subscribe and Roger's won't get my 1080$ over a 3 year term. Once the wireless auction ends/apple introduces a CDMA model/some other thing to drop costs occurs I may add data. The phone is the loss leader for them, their money is tied to the plans. If you don;t like it don't sign up for it.

Visual voicemail doesn't use Data according to the Robbers site.

I just want to make it clear, since I'm not sure the previous reply did, but the iPhone, regardless of where it's coming from, isn't going to run on Bell's network.

Don't open your wallets people!!!

Just think the PEOPLE WHO OPEN THEIR WALLETS are just screwing the rest of us.

Let's be a team here, and demand better prices, I surely don't want to pay for Roger's Ferrari this year.

Wow. 30K signatures already. That seems like a significant amount for a Canadian petition. If that numbers represents lost contract from Rogers, that represents quite an amount of monthly income.

The local CTV news at noon covered this today and mentioned the petition at runinediphone. They reiterated that Rogers is unlikely to bow to pressure from petitions etc and will only listen if sales are impacted.

So, if anyone is planning on buying the iPhone, regardless of the packages available being crap, at least hold off for a few weeks or months. Even if you end up buying it at any, you can only help yourself as packages might end up being improved. And you would obviously be helping out those that have no intention of buying until the plans are improved by adding to the pressure they get from lack of initial sales.

Which means they are not listening to their customers.

People, talk with you wallets and boycott Rogers!

Samsung Instinct - 2 year contract and 10$ unlimited internet. Look's like Roger's may have to rethink their arrogance

What you don't understand is the varying cost structures in Canada and how Rogers' deal is in fact highly competitive -- and some might say superior -- to unlimited mobile browsing, thanks to the rush of knowing you have a cap.

A Rogers spokesperson noted that the plans prove Canada is in its finest hour and that consumers have never known better values.

...

Seriously, though, that's an impressive plan. Bell is way ahead of the curve here, and it seems to have clicked with them that by keeping data rates low, they'll get a lot more users. I hear the browsing experience on the Instinct is pretty weak, but then again, on the HTC Touch it's nothing phenomenal either. I think I can safely say that I leaped into a new phone way too quickly (although the handset was free & the plan was a good deal -- even without the unlimited web)... plus, I can blame Rogers for my decision, and who doesn't like blaming Rogers? :)

Can Rogers really keep their rates where they are when they're so outclassed by other providers?
