You people are so blind. All you see is a number of $30 and 6gb. Do the math, it's still a rip-off after you add features and tax. All Rogers is doing is putting a better spin on it, it's called marketing and it's meant to fool you which apparently it has.

We'll see how many of you are pissing an moaning when your first bills come in at over $100 a month.
My bill will be far below $100 and I will have all the features I expected. Would i want more? Sure. Have VVM included, unlimited anytime minutes and a free car would be nice, but not realistic. I consider a $30 addon for 6GB data only to be reasonable. Do I still have complaints about Rogers? You betcha. They should get rid of the system access fee, which is almost theft in my opinion, and the data plan should include all data, SMS included. I also think they should have a $20 data plan and a $10 data plan for slightly less data, for those that don't need 6GB (maybe 2 and 4), but again, this offer is reasonable.

100% agree to everything you said.

DAMN YOU you Albertans with your black gold and no provincial sales tax!! ;):D
oh that was priceless ;)
so Im still under $100 since we have two taxes :p
sorry but I cant justify the cost of that service.
specially if your locked for 3 years.
ever since I sent an email to Rogers, Ive been getting calls like crazy from them on updating my expired plan. I told them that my displeasure the iPhone plan has them on cancel zone :) nothings gonna happen other than I just stay unplanned till the pin drops ;)

Oh sure .... there you go forgetting about us maritimers!! What about us!! You know ... Canada doesn't start at BC and end at Ontario. :D;)
yea but what about us? the minute you head east and go across Sask, your snoozing across MB :( only to be awaken in Ont due to rough Hwys :p
LOL

So .. if I go with the MY5 $20 plan (I don't use my cell phone very much) and $15 for VVM and Call Display plus $30 for data plus fees and tax, minus discounts it will cost me approximately $69/month

MY5 = $20
Value Pack = $15
6GB Data = 30
10% cellular discount (for having 3 Rogers Services) = -$6.50
I will get an additional 5% discount on my Cable and Internet = 4.75
----------------
Total = $53.75
SAF and 911 ~ $7.50
TAX = $7.96

Total Additional Monthly Cost = $69.21 :D

Another FYI about the event at Yonge-Dundas square, it's all about the Rogers Cup nothing about the iPhone. :eek:

<edit> Sorry no Twinkies were being handed out either... :( ;) </edit>

I doubt it will matter but what are the overage rates for $30/6GB Promo data?

Does anyone know what the overage rates are going to be for the promotional $30/6GB data package? (I seriously doubt I would ever go over 6GB but I'd like to know.)

I was totally prepared to not purchase an iPhone in protest, but what I wanted from the beginning was data pricing comparable to the data pricing offered by AT&T. Since I think 6GB will be equivalent to unlimited Rogers is now offering me that. (In fact I believe the AT&T unlimited package has a 5GB soft cap.) It's hard for me at this point to not get an iPhone when I was told by Rogers today that with my HUP credit I can get the 16GB iPhone for $274 and when purchasing one right away gets me the deal on data I wanted; a deal that will actually reduce my monthly bill.

I still think Rogers should be offering this pricing permanently and I still think they're not doing themselves any favours in terms of sustaining sales. (You may see Rogers extend this offer if sales start to dip in September but who knows.)

I would have also preferred the option to pay more and have a shorter term. But frankly I'll just pay an ETF when I'm ready to upgrade.

Won't be necessary...people don;t seem to realize that hardware upgrades are available on any rogers plan after 1 year, always. So when iPhone rev3 comes out next year, I'll be able to re-up my plan for an add'l 3 years (as per the norm) and buy the phone.

The only reason I'd ever leave Rogers would be if the other guys had a better phone for a better price. THEN I might consider paying the ETF. I came close yesterday...VERY close. But this news today killed that.

Follow the $$ :)

Nope it starts at Niagara and ends at Ottawa :D

Well, that is one area where Rogers has Fido beat. Fido is insistent that I am ineligible for a hardware upgrade until I am 14 months from the end of my contract. I am 22 months out, so I am SOL. They suggest I cancel my contract ($200+tax penalty) and sign up for a new contract. Of course, they would not tell me if I would get my existing contract conditions back. They also said they were unwilling to waive the penalty. They also did not have details on what the price would be if I just bought it as an existing customer to use on my current plan. One rep went so far as to repeatedly blame Apple for the lack of options open to be...it was Apple that forced Rogers to be so restricted in their plans and who is allowed to upgrade and for what price.

If they're gonna burn you for $200 just to get out of the contract, I'd ask what the hardware upgrade fee is mid-contract (prolly around an extra $200). Press the issue and they'll likely cave.

8 months to wait for a friggin' phone...jebus...whatever happened to "give the customer what he wants"? I have money, I'm willing to pay it...just GIMME THE GODDAM THING!!!!

Yeah, I believe that. And Hitler owned a deli. :rolleyes:

I repeatedly asked for any other options, especially any that would avoid a $200 penalty. I called the retentions dept just now. She told me the same thing, but said there might be some flexibility on the penalty, but I would have to call back on Friday to find out...

Weak dude.

It's all very frustrating.

I actually lost my RAZR last July (07) and replaced it with a KRAZR immediately. I'm just lucky it was in July I guess :)

so....
can anyone tell me which one is the cheapest rogers voice plan available?
and how much is visual voicemal?

Thanx

I'm pretty sure VVM is an in-device feature, meaning, if you have Voicemail, you have VVM if your device supports it.

Am I wrong??

I called my local Fido store here in Cambridge and turns out they're only getting 3 8GB models, 3 black 16GB and 3 white 16GB iPhones. Very disappointing. I think I might have to take the morning off work on Friday :(
