Called and confirmed my5 is not on the iphone!

Isnt the my5 plan 25$ anyway? How does he get 20$?
I have never really paid my own phone bills so far so when a plan includes- 100 anytime min., 1000WE min., unlimited network calling...
do i get charged when someone local calls me or only long distance?
Also can i use those 100 anytime min. for long distance calls?

it all depends where you live large market vs small market...

People in Atlantic Canada have a My5 plan for $20 with 6pm early evenings and 250 daytime minutes. If I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure VVM is an in-device feature, meaning, if you have Voicemail, you have VVM if your device supports it.

Am I wrong??

Naw, I think that VVM required work on the end of the provider as well. I thought I remember Steve mentioning how they worked with ATT engineers on the implementation.

Dont worry....Rogers will find a way to charge you for it.

I'm still not impressed with the overall plans, even including the $30 6GB carrot they threw in. I'm going to continue to show my displeasure by keeping my wallet in my pants and see how things develop.

yes,

Visual VM is a $8 add on service (unless you take the iPhone plan)

On the plus side it will not use your airtime or data.

Where does this info come from? I have read that it will be turned on automatically if you have an iPhone and have voice mail. It will be a $0 line item on your bill, apparently.

This will be true if you are on an iphone plan that includes VVM. If you aren't on one of the iphone plans they have stated that VVM will be an $8 option.

MY5 is $20 in New Brunswick

I thought that you could get ANY voice plan and that the $30 data plan could be added to any voice plan.

So which voice plans ARE available for the iPhone???

Well, that is one area where Rogers has Fido beat. Fido is insistent that I am ineligible for a hardware upgrade until I am 14 months from the end of my contract. I am 22 months out, so I am SOL. They suggest I cancel my contract ($200+tax penalty) and sign up for a new contract. Of course, they would not tell me if I would get my existing contract conditions back. They also said they were unwilling to waive the penalty. They also did not have details on what the price would be if I just bought it as an existing customer to use on my current plan. One rep went so far as to repeatedly blame Apple for the lack of options open to be...it was Apple that forced Rogers to be so restricted in their plans and who is allowed to upgrade and for what price.

I'm not hardware upgrade eligible for 3 more months and Rogers refuses to budge. It's amazing that 36 hours before they go on sale, they can't tell me what the price will be if you are upgrade ineligible. How incompetent are the decision makers in this company that the don't have details worked out 36 hrs before launch?

I'm trying to get them to let my brother get it since he is eligible and to then transfer it to my account. I told them I want to give them my money, but their response is that their system won't let them. If they say no to the transfer, maybe I'll ask them to waive the ETF fees. Seems unlikely.

I assume you mean 2G, or more specifically 2.5G, being that it is EDGE technology? 1G technology is analog and is all but phased out, hence why there was never a 1G iPhone.

let's be more clear.
i mean current, unlocked, first generation iphones.
you know, the iphone that was released last year. the one that Steve Jobs said it himself at wwdc 2008 that it was officially released in only a few countries but it actually showed up in many more countries.

and one of those countries is Canada.

what else could i be talking about...

I'm pretty sure you won't be able to add the $30/6GB promo data plan to a 1st generation 2.5G iPhone. The press release explicitly says the plan can added to any 3G device and the original iPhone is not a 3G device.

thanks.
but what about edge.
i can live with edge.
im not that of a heavy mobile internet user.
i almost never use sms
and my voice useage is below 120 minutes, almost every month.

i need to know the price for uneligible upgrades! ah. i am told i can get it on friday even though im not eligible for upgrade, but can buy phone out right..... what is the price...that is the question! like 32 hours from launch and still lots of questions in the air!

Same boat here. I was told yesterday, that I would have to call back Friday for any other options but for now, they are strictly allowed only to tell you to cancel you current contract, pay the $200 penalty and sign up for a new contract with iPhone....

lol $200 isnt too bad. try $400 on newer contracts (which you are probably on because if you arent eligible means you HUPed/restarted a contract within the last year which has increased the ECF to $400)
stupid robbers better have answers for me tomorrow because i was told i can go into store and purachse the phone outright but still not prices yet.

No, they confirmed it was $200. I upgraded my phone 14 months ago. Fido allows me to upgrade again when I have 14 months remaining (up from 6). So, I still have 8 months before I am technically eligible.

So, they gave me two choices: cancel, pay $200 and sign up again or buy a new iPhone with new contract and carry two contract. Neither is appealing. I just want to know if they will be offering a price for existing customers, who are not in an upgrade window and hoping it isn't $400 for the 8Gig phone in this case, as that would be the same as paying the $200 penalty.

Big update.

Here is a small update made big thanks to silly Rogers heh..

So looks like the final word has been put out...

Sorry everyone :(

i called them today..i should have an upgrade since i have not taken an any phone. i recently signed a two year contract without getting a phone. i told her today that if i extend that to three years, then what will it cost me. and this is the response

16GB = $450 +$35 activation fee + tax - $50 tax in rebate = $548.05 in store price - $50 = $498.05

and this with me being eligible for a phone upgrade....lol....wow.....and it was supposed to be $300

This is starting to look less attractive for me. Because I am not in my upgrade window, it looks like there will be at least a $200 premium added for me. Additionally, it appears that they are indeed limiting the $30/6GB plan to voice plans of a minimum rate of $35/month, so mine would not be included. To switch to a more expensive plan would actually get me less because mine is an old plan and has some retention modifications to it. So, if I switch to a $35 plan, I lose features. This is the same problem I had with the original iPhone plans, that is to get one of their iPhone plans would claw back existing features or triple my bill.

I still think this is a good deal for new customers and existing customers who are in their upgrade window and have a $35 or higher plan already.
