CPU future is only with Intel!!!!
Nope. X86 used to have majority market share. Now it’s a tiny fraction of the CPUs sold, and more and more businesses and use cases have adopted arm.x86 is dead. It just doesn’t know it yet. Why would anyone want to use a processor that is half the speed and burns four times as much power to achieve that?

frankly it makes me happy - the terrible cpu designers at Intel (they are very weak) have been riding the coattails of the brilliant fab folks forever, and it’s time for Intel to be punished for such ineptitude.

not to mention: consoles are dead, too. And so is “aaa game development.”

... when we switched to x86 architecture with terrible RISC architectures!!!!!

... and is not about to support the Apple Metal GPU !!!
P.S. ARM architecture be damned !!! STOP THE ARM!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
Just for gameplay t00!!!

You know that throwing in more exclamation points doesn’t make your case stronger, right? It just makes it look like you don’t have any actual evidence to fall back on, so you’re resorting to bluster. Long strings of assertions with piles of exclamation points is not the same thing as reasoned arguments and actual data.

Even AMD is beating Intel parts in a lot of metrics right now, and Intel is using AMD's 64-bit code in Windows, so I don't think the future of x86 is "only with Intel", and we know that Intel has no presence in the mobile market either.

i see what you're saying, and it makes a log of "logical" sense, but the other guy's got exclamation points, so I'm torn.

Intel processors have a 90-95% market share!!!!!

Wrong. Intel only had 81.25% of the PC market when the last numbers were released in March.

AMD is actually gaining market share though...

You're talking absolute nonsense!!!! Windows OS and other operating systems only supports x86 architecture!!! 95% in profesiional words supporting x86 architecture!!!

AMD is cheating see performance tests!!

Perfectly!!! This is a huge number !!

That’s not true. Many operating systems support Arm. For example:

Windows OS: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/
Android
iOS
iPadOS
Mac OS
Many varieties of Linux
Minix
Firefox OS
WebOS
Galileo
NetBSD

and dozens more.

And 100% of people in professional worlds use Arm.

They did not have popularity and support due to ARM processor.!!!

Sure they do. Android is used on 39% of computing devices. Windows is only used on 36%. iOS is on 14%.

Right there, Arm outnumbers Windows by 17%. Windows on x86 is far less popular than Arm and Arm-based operating systems. Windows and x86 will be dead very soon. They cost too much. Burn too much power. They are ugly, poor designs. No taste at all. Arm is both technically superior, more popular, and is rapidly rising in market share compared to pitiful x86.

His point is that your statement is like saying “Toyota Tercel is faster than trucks!”

it depends on the truck. If you are going to compare an architecture on the one hand to processors made by a specific company on the other hand, you are making a false comparison.

Not everyone can buy a Ferrari for 2 million

And in general, this is not a correct comparison, since AMD processors are weaker than Intel processors, but cheaper !!!

It's just your imagination!! Windows RTM is not so popular on ARM based

I’ve designed Sparc, x86, x86-64, PowerPC, and MIPS processors. x86 are the worst. Inherently crappy. And intel’s designers are terrible. If you compare designs between architectures, a good RISC design beats a good x86 design every time.

This is your imagination! Engineers at Intel are excellent scientists !! Sorry, so you were not a very good engineer, scientist, if you say that about your colleagues.

P.S. The amount of software written for ARM is very, very small! A huge amount of software has been written for the x86 architecture!! Only RISC architecture is the past !! Hybrid architectures are popular now!!! Symbiosis of CISC and RISC architectures is the future which are Intel processors!!!

Anyone else for popcorn? 🍿
Yeah 🍿 It's quite funny to watch someone with bunch of expertise like cmaier respond to someone else who can't see past x86 architecture due to refusal to change. Change is already here and it will affect us all. The only question is how long will it take for developers to offer proper AArch64 version of their apps. Hopefully it won't take that long 🤞

I am curious what running Windows on Apple Silicon in, say, VMware Fusion will be like (if it's a thing at all).
