Thank you x1000 for not posting that god-awful, hideous, overused mockup with the hole-punched screen that's been circulating since the iPhone 7 rumors started. It's about time you guys posted some decent looking ones, even if they'd never happen.

Funny thing is they never end up looking like some of these ridiculous renditions.

The first video concept - I saw the "embossed" glass home button and I think this will be the most accurate one.

Dagnabbit! Still no headphone jack!
No worries love. Gotcha covered. Simply plug the headphone below into same port as power cord.:D

/waits on someone to complain about listening and charging at the same time.

These concepts are so far from reality.

I just got the real leaked iPhone 8:

design is only 3 years old. We can't change on an odd year, that would be an insult to the queen.

to me, the 'screen' on the edges are just totally wasted space.
I'd rather a bezel to wrap my fingers around.
Never did understand the hype on Edge phones

It was based on rumors. Not a big fan of edge-to-edge like the Samsung Edge myself but love the idea of a complete black OLED iPhone and a seamless display Phone designed by Apple.

It also features USB-C instead of Lightning, a change Apple probably isn't going to make.

The pessimist side of me agrees with you - but I sure wish Apple would rip off the bandage and ditch this proprietary BS once and for all. Too bad it doesn't benefit them.

History of mockup tell us that when Apple releases anything it never looks even closely to what the released mockup are.

There's a very good reason for that - none of these people that do mock ups work for Apple.

That means anybody that does a mock-up is exploring their own wants and desires and not: (a) doing any kind of market research or customer testing, (b) considering directions Apple wants their product catagoies to go in (Apple design branding), (c) worrying about engineering in the least, (d) in general not thinking about anything other than their dream concept and thinking they're showing off their Industrial Design "skills".

I dunno - I think 2011 with the iPhone 5 tear drop rumours takes the cake (when we ended up with the 4S).

Somehow I have a strange feeling the same thing is going to happen this year.
I remember that one floating around. I never understood why it was even thought of as a good idea; it's top heavy, it'd fall out of your hands easily.

I think mockups are kind of pointless, because most people that make them don't think through the engineering or the usability of the designs they make. Most of these likely wouldn't be very ergonomic or usable for any long period of time. That's kind of important when you use your phone hundreds of times a day for more than a year.

I've never understood the fascination with mockups. It's easy to mock something up when you don't have to engineer the darn thing. And it seems whenever a mockup gets posted everyone goes crazy over it even when it's crap, like this:

haha! The only thing I like here is the background -- could you share that by the way? :)

how do I put a case on this and still be able to get to the sides of the screen?

I like the last one the best....I don't see how they would have a screen on each side of the phone? That would mean either looking through a clear cover or scratching up a viewing screen every time you set it down...just not practical. I dedicate my right front pants pocket to my iPhone so the plus size has always been too big. If I want a bigger screen I grab my iPad. But because of less bezel and more screen they can fit a plus size screen on a regular size (read iPhone 7) then that would be the Ferrari to me! I'll even take one in Red!

Problem is that most mock-ups are not even realistic that one could say you know what that is possible, it just so out to lunch that one wonders if some substance was involved.

No one is saying that a mock-up will be spot on with a released product, however envision something conceivable to reality. It would be similar to me designing an iPhone the thickness of a sheet of paper, with present day technology where is the battery and components, completely unrealistic. If an artist is not going to be even remotely realistic why bother with unrealistic concepts.
