Everyone is going to be sadly disappointed when the 7S comes out in the same form factor at the 7. Sure it will have a faster chip and better camera, but that'll be it. This is Tim Cook's Apple. Empty pipelines and cashing in on what already exists is his forte.

Looks nice!

The iPhone 8 (or what it will be called) seems to have all the features I been wanting for years.

It could be my last smart phone. After the anniversary phone, I want augmented reality glasses.

I'm hoping Apple innovates in a positive way this generation and comes up with a flip or some sort of foldable phone. Something as pocketable as say the iPhone4, but with the option to open up into a ~phablet sized screen when you want it.

With rumors suggesting the 2017 iPhone 8 is going to introduce some of the most radical design changes we've seen to the iPhone since 2014, a number of artists have been making conceptual mockups based on current rumors floating around.

Many of the mockups imagine fanciful ideas that Apple is unlikely to implement, but they also adopt the edge-to-edge display with built-in Home button, OLED screen, wireless charging, and glass body ideas that are being bandied about, giving an interesting look at how iPhone 8 rumors are being interpreted.

The first conceptual design was created by Thadeu Brandão and has been getting a lot of attention over the last couple of days. The mockup features an iPhone with a larger edge-to-edge display, dual cameras, and a glass front and back surrounded by an aluminum frame, and a physical home button built into the screen at the bottom of the device, which we are not expecting for the iPhone 8.

It has an Android-style home bar or "Touch Bar" with controls that change contextually based on the app, an inclusion that is not rumored for the device at this time. Brandão has also shared several iPhone 8 mockups on his website, showing off his design in more detail.

A concept created by Veniamin Geskin and Ran Avni imagines several iterations of the iPhone 8, with a display that extends to the edges of the screen but leaves top and bottom bezels, and another that curves down the edges of the device. Apple Watch-style inductive charging is pictured, as is a variation with a top bezel and no bottom bezel.

An iPhone 8 concept created by iDrop News is fairly true to the rumors we've heard so far, featuring an ultra thin device with a bezel-free OLED display, an all-white glass body, no Home button, and iris scanning technology.

Imran Taylor's iPhone 8 mockup, created alongside ConceptsiPhone, imagines a ceramic body (unlikely due to cost), a 5.8-inch curved OLED display, a touch sensitive lower bezel, and wireless charging through a Smart Connector. It includes thick bezels at the top and bottom along with a Touch ID Home button, two features that don't quite align with the rumors we're hearing right now.

Swiss site Handy Abovergleich imagines a bubbly iPhone 8 with more rounded edges and a glass body sandwiched between an aluminum frame. A Touch ID Home button is under the display and is accompanied by an Android-style home bar, an iris scanner is built in, and Apple Pencil support is included. It also features USB-C instead of Lightning, a change Apple probably isn't going to make.

The last concept comes from designer Moe Slah, and has an interesting look at how some apps could potentially look on a device that has an edge-to-edge display.

Apple is expected to introduce the redesigned iPhone 8 in September, its usual timeframe for introducing new devices. Up to three models may debut, including the flagship ~5-inch OLED device with an edge-to-edge display that's pictured in all of the mockups and standard 4.7 and 5.5-inch models that may have a design closer to the iPhone 7.

This is a way off from becoming reality, besides expect Apple to be last to that foldable phone reality. At present there are rumours of it with curved edge screen or bezel-less screen. Sharp, Samsung, and others have released phones with this technology before Apple. Apple is not a risk taker with the iPhone considering it accounts for 69% of its revenue, expect the same gradual at a snail pace "innovation."

I at least expect edge/curved display, and the top and bottom of the phone to be cut in half. Maybe a smaller/wider home button.

I've never understood the fascination with mockups. It's easy to mock something up when you don't have to engineer the darn thing. And it seems whenever a mockup gets posted everyone goes crazy over it even when it's crap, like this:

Yeah, that stuff seemed neat because we didn't have widgets. Now that we have widgets, any utility gained from this is lost. We were more desperate back then. Pretty sure I saw these before iOS 8, anyway.

I agree completely. The iPhone 7 was a big seller, but not very exciting and more of the same. The six was plenty fast for me internally. Had to buy a new phone because my 6 was having issues.

I recently purchased an iPad mini 2 and 4. I have no other Apple product to choose from in that size so I am forced to buy something that is showing it's age to stay in the ecosystem.

Still waiting for the Mac Mini. I'd take an update at this point. Going on 3 years old, not even close to current specs, and still priced the same. I almost bought a 2011 that I could upgrade RAM and hard drives. Should not be like this...

I guess it's too much to ask for a 4.7" screen iPhone with reduced bezels (top, bottom, and sides).

Ironic cause it's Apple itself in the iPhone 5 keynote that said all their competitors take the easy route and make products larger (referring to the Galaxy S3 at the time) and they take the hard route and make theirs smaller (iPhone 5's reduced volume from the 4), yet the ended up going bigger anyway.

You don't need to feel the home button. Just put your thumb on the bottom middle of the display.

that sucks. i have an android phone that does that and I never got used to it. i need to feel the home button to press. sometimes i think I pressed home on the android phone and it didn't work because i missed it on the screen.

With 8 months to go don't you think it's a bit early to compile a list of mockups? We'll see at least this many more each month until the summer when we start getting part leaks and then we'll see even more based on those leaks until the actual iPhone is launched.
Be glad that we don't have any 2018 iPhone rumours yet. This time last year, the 2017 iPhone already had a number of articles on it.

These will all become iPhone 9 concepts once the iPhone 8 is announced.
Though there likely will be an iPhone 8s in-between.

The current iPhone 7 is great when it comes to handling the phone, making the screen as large as the device would ruin that. So I wonder what size the device and screen will get. Ideally for me would be the iPhone 7 minus the top bezel, that much I can reach.
You need to put the selfie camera somewhere. Putting it next to a home button area at the bottom as some smartphones have done has downside of giving your selfies a lower perspective with a better view of the inside of your nose and probably also a higher risk of covering the camera with your thumb.

7 months.
No because iPhone7 was "more of the same" same design mostly and people are eager for something really new so it's normal that mockups pop up. iPhone8 will be the "real successor" of the 6/6S.

These designs FAIL to realize thumb fatigue.

If Apple makes the front all touch sensitive it will leave out room to rest your thumb on the bottom or home button to HOLD on to your phone when using it.

Leaving this area touch sensitive will be a nightmare trying to grip your phones in your hand securely.

If Apple does this, they are doing so in hopes that more people drop their phones causing them to buy a replacement, so maybe that's good business?

If they make an anniversay one and two old design ones I'll be mildly upset. Cuz that's just teasing to fork out more for the ultra nice one and it's greedy. I'd prefer they did 2 again with a brand new design and be done with it.
If the choice with between not releasing a new design with an OLED screen and releasing three models (because they cannot get enough OLED screens to only sell OLED models as current models), what would you prefer?

The only one that makes NO sense is having a screen on the front and back. No privacy at all. Also, twice as expensive to make.

I like how, with all the doomsayers and the phony controversies, taking our beloved audio jack, they still sold 78 million in a quarter. And the Doomed Watch did quite well.

An open letter to people of the internet:

Please, please, please, please, PLEASE never ever type the heinously ignorant term "JET WHITE"; its like trying to make "fetch" happen.

IT IS NOT A THING!

Google "Jet White".... page after page of iPhone 7 rumors. NOTHING ELSE.
That is because that term had literally NEVER been used before.
Tim and Jony are not illiterate. There is no chance they will call it "jet white" (nor "coal white" or "mignight white" or "pitch white" or "tar white").
Some buffoon journalist, when the very, very, very 1st rumor came out about a possible ceramic iPhone (probably because he was so excited still about the new "jet black" color) referred to it as such. He did not follow that with the statement "this, my source assures me, is the name Apple has decided on". Why it has been picked up and repeated ad nauseum boggles the mind.
Together we can stop this madness though!

I'm sorry but I've never taken to the concept videos. I've found them to be so cheesy.

iPhone 8?

You think they'll break tradition and not just increment this year!

We're going to get iPhone 7S and 7S+ with no new amazing features.

aside... Apple, bring back the headphone jack!!!!!!
