The majority will win, because they will already have an iPhone charger and that way they won't be paying more for the new iPhones (since the more expensive production will be compensated with fewer accessories). You're also helping the environment.

For those who don't have an Apple charger, it will be a bummer.
I have literally two dozen little square iPhone chargers, no problems. The new one that came with my most recent iphone... just stopped working. If that's the quality of the chargers now, just skip it. And I certainly don't need a tenth pair of wired earbuds that I can only use on my iPhone.
Still, I think you should have the option to have these items included, if you're going to keep using proprietary ports.

Enough about this wireless charging bs.... fast charging is the way to go. Pad charging still has a long way to reach the same efficiency of cable charging. True wireless charging might as well still be in the lab improving.

Not everyone needs fast charging. I have a Qi charger at work, car, home. My phone is rarely below 60%.

Nothing like a strong cappuccino with a light dusting of righteous indignation to start Quarantine Day 763 on the right foot.

I’m with most of you—I don’t care how many of these $0.50 cent plastic landfill cubes are already in circulation: selling a electronic consumer product without the means of powering it is anti-consumer corporate entitlement at its finest.

This is to be expected. The ugly part is that people will be happily applauding the move at their own expense.
I bet people will buy iPhone box with nothing in it for $1400, and buy the iPhone separately for another $1400. /s
This whole “Apple cult” is horrifying.
Not cool Apple, not cool.
With 1 billion actives users and countless Apple cults, even if this move is not cool, nothing will change.

How are we as consumers getting any less? We’re getting a brand new 5G iPhone in almost every possible size variation and all with OLED panels. We’re getting so much.
All the reasons you list is marginal improvements. 5G (Low, Mid) is not a huge advantage, mm5G well very limited range, yes you can have a connection so the lines are not all busy. A tiny 6.5" OLED screen is so impressive compared to LCD/LED screen, yes better contrast, maybe color accuracy.

What's next that is absolutely needed? 4K video recording from a phone with a better battery? There is only so much you can achieve on a phone. Next would be seeing people walking around with some AR set up Apple wants to pair a phone to. But there is a end in sight to where phones take you. Siri is terrible, improve that. It barely what's considered a intelligent agent. I think phones are great gadgets, but we're getting so much as the prices go up and Apple stops bundling things?

So a company valued at over $2T that makes $11B a quarter in profits is going to remove accessories from the iPhone box but make new ones customers can buy separately. And some will defend it claiming they have a drawer full of chargers at home. But this isn’t about that or the environment. It’s about $$ and Apple not willing to give up any iPhone margin.

Not very welcoming to those buying an iPhone for the first time and those switching from Android.

I’m sure they’ve done research on this. Majority of people are probably upgraders. There are plenty of options for wall adapters and earphones. It’s not a big deal.

You would say this even if they were worth $500B. No other company is criticized for cutting costs like Apple is criticized. They have no obligation to include accessories.

Would it be nice if they were included? Yeah, but is it really a big deal? No. Business is business.

Pretty greasy move if you ask me. I doubt Apple will deduct the prices of those accessories from the handset prices.
Of course not. Otherwise they would have done it before now. Let’s not forget this is the same company that shipped the iPad Pro with a 12W charger.
I understand not including the EarPods, I've always left them inside the box. The charger though? That doesn't make any sense to me especially since they ship with the 18W charger now.
Joz will get up on stage touting Apple’s environmental credentials and what the great packaging team did to fit the phone in a smaller box blah blah blah and then say and we also designed this great 20W charger for only $29.99. And our lightning to USB-C cable is only $19.99 :)

I have the original chargers from my iPhone 4S, iPhone 5S and iPhone 7. The only thing I change over the years are the USB cables. Chargers have stayed the same up to now and still work. I would not have an issue with the next iPhone not including a charger.
if you trade in, apple may ask for the existing charger

"Apple would likely tout the environmental benefits of shipping iPhone 12 models without a charger or EarPods, as such a move could result in slimmer packaging, less waste, and reduced emissions from both manufacturing and transportation"

Will this offset the non-replaceable batteries in their Airpods?
Nah. It’s all BS to increase their margins and drones are fine with lowering the bar.

This is one of the ways Apple will increase their margins/profitability and become a $3 trillion company because honestly, do people believe Apple will pass along the savings to buyers?
It's more a question of not passing along the cost of accessories that are usually not used.

This is really stupid. I held out on paying extra for a fast charger thinking they would obviously offer it eventually. Lord did I shoot myself in the foot. Now Ill have to pay extra to charge my phone at all anywhere other than my computer lol.
So like a $25 4-port 40W portable usb charger is just to rich for your blood?

I'm anxious to see which mobile phone manufacturers will have the "courage" to plant a metaphorical flag and declare they will always and forever ship a charger (let alone a 'fast' one) because of the chaos that would otherwise ensue.

I'm surprised as well. But I guess privileged people have their lifestyle...

I don’t think many are throwing them away, I’m not using them which is essentially the same thing. I don’t know if my weird ears Precluding there use makes me privileged though.

Just imagine getting your brand new iPhone and the battery is at 0%. Now you have to look for a charger to charge your brand new iPhone.

COURAGE!!!

Especially if they still go with a C cable. People here might have a C port to charge, but not the average iPhone user. I just hope that if they do have no charging brick, it is made abundantly clear for the average user.

Personally I'd rather people on Android stay on Android. Too many Android users are coming over and trying to demand that Apple change things to be more like Android such as multiple app stores...

It's a wireless future for sure. You may have your opinion about it but it's inevitable. Wired earpods and chargers not being included is a no brainer. Also, Apple is trying to find additional money so they can put the tech they want in the product which ultimately is what people are buying, not chargers and certainly not earpods.
If they really want a wireless future, step one is to up their wireless rate from pokey turtle 7.5! I like wireless for overnight, but no way am I getting a portless iPhone while wireless is 7.5 max with zero range and public availability.

How is this better for the environment? Customers will just buy a charger from someone else, do they come in some renewable paper like bag then? How dumb can customers be? Never seen customers so concerned with their supplier money instead of their own. As many I’m a avid customer, just wondering if I’m in good company though.

As a customer why would multiple App Stores be bad? If they existed one can still choose not to use them right?
