I really hope this isn’t true. Think this is just sad. Users getting screwed more and more all to the shareholders joy. But I think this will backfire soon enough, if it continues.

Lmao Apple is a corporation. Corporations cut costs all the time. How are users getting screwed? You know customers can be shareholders too right? It’s not going to backfire.

I think you’re reaching with your shareholder point, but I do think there are some consumers who would be upset, but if you think about majority of ‘walled iPhone‘ users, they have plenty of cables, EarPods in their household. Long-term, I think it’s a non-issue, but you would have a small minority who want the accessories Who may be ‘first time‘ iPhone users that don’t have a Lightning cable, or want the AirPods, etc.

Another example could be, The iPod touch does include a charging brick, do we see complaints about that from consumers? I’ve never heard anyone say anything about it. Albeit, it does include the lightning cable and EarPods.

If at this point point you don’t already have a ton of extra chargers and crappy wired EarPods to spare, you deserve to pay a little extra for coming so late to the Light side 😬

Nothing was ever given away for free. Its cost + profit was built into the price you pay.
Yup. I get how pricing works. I was making a joke.

But in all seriousness, the article says that the 12 will cost about the same as the 11, so while you're arguably getting "more iPhone" for the same price, if you need the charger, you still have to pay for it separately where as before it would've just come with it. Not a deal breaker... just kind of irritating. It's like buying a built-in home appliance like an oven, dishwasher, or a garbage disposal and then having to still buy the power cable separately... "you couldn't've just thrown that in box?"

A bottle of WHINE, the fruit of the vine... There's nothing like beating a dead horse to make it move faster. Seriously, Apple wants to cut e-waste and cost, end of the story. Constantly whining about it isn't going to change anything. Apple got rid of the headphone jack and now practically every other company is getting rid of them. Other companies may follow the same no-charger strategy down the road. Times change and consumers need to adapt to them. It's just a charger and one can probably get faster, approved chargers from another company. I have so many USB chargers in my house, I don't want to see another one.

The majority will win, because they will already have an iPhone charger and that way they won't be paying more for the new iPhones (since the more expensive production will be compensated with fewer accessories). You're also helping the environment.

For those who don't have an Apple charger, it will be a bummer.
Some people will have an old charger, yes. But it will be a USB-A charger that won’t be compatible with the cable that comes with the new iPhone. Lol.

It’s shameful of Apple not to just include a charger in the box. Sure, they’ll “say” it’s for the environment. But we all know that’s not the real reason.

Some people might need to just buy a USB-C brick if they don’t already have one. At some point the burden should be on the consumer. Nothing lasts forever. This is the cost of moving forward, USB-A has lasted long enough to warrant not supporting the transition any longer.

Don’t like it? Android world is that way 👉

Hmmm the more you pay the less you get, what a brilliant idea! :p

How are we as consumers getting any less? We’re getting a brand new 5G iPhone in almost every possible size variation and all with OLED panels. We’re getting so much.

ITT a ton of whining.

Many of the models are rumored to have $50 price cuts, so that’s a trade I’ll personally gladly make. For people who don’t have an adapter, make it an add-on option I guess.

1. reducing e-waste. FALSE pretence. If Apple wanted to reduce e-waste they would have adhered long time ago to a standard connector, and having failed to do that with usb-b surely they could have implemented usb-c in all their devices. Likewise their chargers were always underpowered and overpriced. On the bonus note, after batterygate, using a "non-approved" charger may very well result in poor battery lifespan or whatever else they decide to "enhance" the user experience.

1a. removing the EarPods and introducing AirPods will produce even more waste, just imagine the complex manufacturing and rare materials going in the batteries and electronics, most ending in the garbage as they quickly degrade in 2-3 years or on the subway tracks...

2. reducing cost. FALSE. it is spelled reducing PROFIT. which is a big NO NO in Apple world; well within their right of course but please stop believing all the BS reasonings being fed to you by the shovel.

So it’s either buy the new powerful charger or wait a day to charge your brand new Max for 1.249€ with an old charger you have laying around. Got it

Unless this comes with cost savings, I'm not a fan. I can do without the charger if Apple can do without my extra 20-30 bucks. I'll gladly take a spare USB-C to Lightning cable, regardless.

I still think this is only the non-Pro models considering the Pro models received the faster charger last fall.

Enough about this wireless charging bs.... fast charging is the way to go. Pad charging still has a long way to reach the same efficiency of cable charging. True wireless charging might as well still be in the lab improving.

Quite honestly, I haven't used the wall wart in the box in years... But, and this is a big one, it would still be a good gesture that if they are 'changing' the interface or the wattage to accommodate 'faster charging' or anything like that, they include it. Potentially they can save a lot of money by not including it anymore... I get that. But the perception by the consumer is they are seeking more monetary gain from its base, rather than trying to mitigate costs.

Same thing happened when they moved to the new USB-C macbook pro power adapters - low and behold - the lack of inclusion of necessary items was now missing for the accessories - if I bought an extra AC adapter for my MBP, that extra adapter didn't come with the USB-C cable, or AC Adapter to the wall cable - both extra charges.

No adapter in the 12 box? That is fine - drop the price by whatever cost you will charge us for the new AC Adapter if we have to go pick it up.
