Did you just say that good design is putting in a worse camera just so that it's flat?

And you say Apple is too concerned with asthetic?

Everyone agrees it’s too ugly. Better to stay flat and improve around stay flat. That’s innovation. Same with TrueDepth. These are just prototypes that Apple threw on the wall. Apple cares only about form, not function.

I think it look about as aesthetically unpleasing as the current Max. This isn't significantly worse. But either one, I don't care. What I care MUCH more about is price.

If they don't make the base model 128 GB, or else offer a 128 GB model that's cheaper than the 256 GB model, or else drop the 256 GB (and 64 GB model) pricing significantly, I'm just not interested.

I'll just continue to use my 7 Plus until 2020 and reassess then. If the prices in 2020 continue to suck, then I'll seriously consider buying a non-Apple phone. I like Live Photos and Messages, but if losing those features means saving $400, I can deal with that.

The XR's 2019 or 2020 replacements won't cut it, unless they upgrade the screen. It doesn't have to be OLED. Just give me back the 401 ppi screen of the Plus, and I'd be happy. In fact, I suspect a lot of people would even prefer the 401 ppi LCD over the OLED, since the LCD doesn't cause headaches like OLEDs do for some people.

The camera bump is the exact opposite of taking form over function. It is having a flush back with a worse camera that would be 'form over function'.

I’m just annoyed that I spent money for my iPhone X a year ago because it’s more “high end”. My iPhone X is so slow now and crashes a lot (screen will go black and will bring it back to the lock screen).

Also it’s so slow now too. It’s amazing how after a year it’s slower than the XR that’s so much less expensive. The higher end iPhone should have a different chip that’s even faster, so the phone is more future proof and can handle apps just as good as next generation base phones.

The higher end phones need to be more future proof!

WTF Apple! Just make it thick enough so nothing is protruding; although hopefully the case companies will fix this with their case designs.

And maybe some progress on the Mac Pro; oh right, you're too busy working on Animoji for the upcoming press event.

Is there any doubt the next premium iPhone is going to look like this?
For starters, there are two different looking renders so which one are we talking about? I think there's still a good chance that Apple could go with a triangle of cameras or just stick with two lenses. They could also separate the lenses to match the distance between our eyes which would be much better for AR and stereo separation applications.

All phones look the same right now so we're really picking at the details here. This space is going to be so boring until we all move onto wearables and glasses and the phone tries to make a comeback in 10 years with crazy new designs and use cases.

I wouldn't call that hideous but it isn't a great design or a good job. At least give it some symmetry.

My old iPhone 10 just keeps looking better and better. Apple better introduce some really cool features because it’ll take that to get me to spend $ on ugly.

Hey Apple, just put in 4 cameras, one in each corner. Then your iPhone could double as a coaster. And no more wobble.

This is objectively ugly. If you don't think so you're either deluding yourself or you have no sense of aesthetics. At least the current design has some svelte elegance to it. Though I do dislike the way the camera sticks out on all of them because it essentially requires you to put your phone in a case. Which, to most people is not a problem because you want to protect your investment. But it just feels like there's no option for going naked with these bump-back iPhones. They don't lay nicely on tables. Now back to this design, if they wanted to truly innovate and have the triple lens, they should figure out a way to integrate it flush in the back of the phone. That would solve the ugly design problem (for the most part), and the problem of not laying flat.

No, it’s subjectively ugly. All aesthetics are subjective. Opinions vary. If you think otherwise, YOU are deluding yourself. Lol.

But that arrogant statment aside...i had to laugh when you said “theres no option for going naked with these bump-back iphones. That they don’t lay nicely on tables.” LOL. Seriously? Come on. Is that REALLY even a problem? Do you stare at your naked iphone laying on a table...and Actually obssess over something so silly? Something that most people don’t or can’t even see?

I’m sorry. I just find this whole bump non issue comical.

CAN'T INNOVATE MY ASS!

"shh just add more cameras, our followers will bow down to us, yet again, like sheep!"

Yes, let me complain about how the side of the phone I never look at is "ugly."

Who cares?

I just hope the XR moves to OLED and gets two lenses when this upgrade happens. But it probably won't. They will stretch it out for another3 years or so.

I hope the s10e pressures them to offer a bit more base storage at the entry level XR. $750 for a 128GB phone with two camera lenses and OLED would get me on the Apple train.
