One would think that of all weeks, this would be the one that persons as yourself would have a plethora of information as to to how and why Steve Jobs and his teams at Apple and Pixar were and will continue to be so successful.

I think I made a pretty good point that I'm confident in Apple's future and that Steve has left them with a good legacy and that going forward they are tooled properly to keep putting out good products. See the following thread :

Actually read through that and tell me your post was justified.

Persons such as myself ? What do you even mean by that ? Why do you people keep attacking and insulting instead of actually addressing my arguments you don't either "like" or "agree" with ?

The rumor is that the Nexus Prime will have the SGX543MP2. And what does their Exynos SoC use ? You do know the SGS II has 2 SoCs, the Exynos 1.5 ghz dual-core and the TI-OMAP 1.2 ghz dual-core, depending on the model/country of release.
So you're basing this "Prime destroys the iPhone 4S" based on a rumor?

Am I missing something?

Also, it's how the software integrates and utilizes the hardware that matters, not numbers.

like others have said before...could be:

-respect

-funeral time-lapsed into announcement timeframe (exec's going)

-idea that a funeral or anything else Apple will garner more attention in media

-rewriting "bad copy" (DOA, iPhone killer, etc.)

and waiting for Apple to "go to market" in their time frame helps let Apple-mourners get on with it. with Apple staying on track, this will let Apple mourners get their fill of all-things-Apple and then announce their products.

Steve's death is probably the single biggest death since Elvis in terms of the way people are affected right over the globe, when the pope died no one cared outside of catholics, when Diana died no one cared outside of royalists, when Jackson died most people thought one less weirdo in the world but I have not seen such a global outpouring of grief and universal love for anyone since Elvis died and it might even top that, the world is grieving over Steve Jobs right now and Google and Samsung just know Steve is going to dominate the headlines so it is just PR and nothing more, god silicon valley is a small world Google execs probably heard on the grapevine weeks ago that Steve was on his last legs.

This kind of spontaneous kindness and respect hits me deeply. It chokes me up. It shows the best qualities people can be.

I hate to belittle the possibility of these companies doing something "nice" but to me it all sounds like, "this is a great excuse for delaying our release while we work like crazy to "catch-up" or put together a better product to actually compete with Apple's new phone. All the while making ourselves look good."

This is not respect - it's politics and PR.

I agree. Launching their product is not a slap at Apple at all...Apple launched theirs knowing full well that's Job's passing was imminent.

They thought about what they were going to present and this was a way to modify their approach. If there were potshots at Apple they simple could have taken that part out.

+1. Well said!

I agree, this has nothing to do with respect. I believe that Samsung and Google stopped the release simply because the tech world is too occupied with Steve's death, and the companies would not get full attention on their products.

Apple is releasing the 4S on schedule b/c they can play the "This is what Steve wanted"-card, and actually gain a positive spin on they new 4S.

I have the deepest respect for Steve Jobs and Apple; and so do Google and Samsung probably. But they would not postpone a release if it wasn't the best thing to do for the stockholders. Nothing personal, just business, no crime in that!

Yes, and frankly iOS has quite a lot of catching up to do here. iOS 5 is a start.

yep, starting with little things like letting u put the icons where u want and not in the forced damn order and unlimited apps in a folder. one of the reason why i still jailbreak

The Apple keynote was the day before Steve died, of course they couldn't delay it in light of an event that hadn't happened yet

Apple fanboys, always looking for a conspiracy when there is none to be found.

Yeah, I'm sure Tim and co were just totally blindsided by Steve's death?

If Samsung and Google could delay a product out of "respect", a product they have already announced (and planned for months) would ship on a certain date, then I'm sure Apple could delay a launch too.

I think it's pretty much safe to say that most of you ass-clowns that are spitting on this piece of news are either a bunch of teenagers or just don't have a good concept of death.

Are you really joking? I'm certainly not Catholic (and don't even like the religion), but the death and election of a new Pope is nothing short of spectacular. As for Diana, you've obviously not been to the crash site before. And I think everyone was downright shocked by Michael passing. Sure, he's a weirdo, but he was a phenomenal musician and his music pretty much served as a soundtrack to many people's childhoods.

LOL...your post really made me laugh out loud, literally. You can go through all of my posts and you will not find a single reference to me bashing Android or its handsets but what you're saying is true. There are way too many manufacturers out there and it amazes me how Android is even found on the super cheap, no-name phones. Reminds me of Windows and how it whored itself out to anyone willing to pay.

Sounds more like they're delaying because of the release of the iPhone 4s than the death of Steve.

If Apple doesn't care enough about Steve passing away to cancel their new product launch, why whould their competitors?

Bs

I call BS on Samsung and Google. I think they will get more publicity by doing this than if it went off on time. Also trying to make Apple look bad, which it doesn't.

Honestly, I think that the iPhone 4S sales go up because Steve passed away. I think many people will see this as the last iPhone he truly worked on, although we know he plans for years ahead.

If Google and Samsung did this it's because they know they don't stand a chance now.

so what is this - a 30 day mandated mourning period for the tech industry? Is Apple going to halt their operations out of respect for Jobs?

Are you really joking?

Nope not at all, I have not seen such universal affection for someone in decades at the time of his death bar a few rabid forum trolls, everyone from presidents to royalty to people in the street to newspapers to tv channels to colleagues and rivals have united in grief

How is this trying to make Apple look bad ? In what way, after reading this, you're thinking "Yeah, bad Apple!" ? I think it's a nice show of respect and I don't see anything negative towards Apple nor do I feel negative towards Apple after reading this piece of news.

Look at the front page of Apple.com dude. Instead of promoting iPhone 4S preorders they are respecting Steve Jobs. I would say that qualifies as putting your latest product launch on the back burner in order to respect the man.

I don't believe this was a decision made out of respect (althought they might be making it seem like it).

In the middle of all the iPhone 4S and Steve Jobs news, there'd barely be any time for the mediatic impact they expect their Nexus Prime to have. The Nexus Prime announcement date appeared to be surgerically chosen; by sending it out on this date, they'd do a major hit on the iPhone 4S mediatic context (the Nexus Prime would be announced as a phone that not only is better than the iPhone, but also that launches roughly at the same time).

Steve's death screwed their plan royally. They'll wait till the Apple news calm down and then announce it.

I've edited my post above.

Truly, everyone is coming out of the woodwork dropping Steve's name like they were childhood buddies. Believe me, he won't even be in/on the news come a week.

I think you hit it on the head right here. They want their phone to make a big splash, not be overshadowed by the news of the death of a corporation executive's death.
