Interestingly they didn't made the phone thinner as Apple is trying to do... I like this phone but I still prefer the Apple ecosystem... But anyway this phone looks very appealing, no useless features like eye tracking.... Good battery(to be confirmed with testing) performance I don't care and I believe most of people do the same, where it may matter is in phones like the Microsoft one with continuity... Apple should really focus on battery, I can't imagine a iphone with 3000 mah battery, it will last 3 days.... You add quick charge and wireless charging... Bazingaaa! The revolution...

Vr... Honestly this smells like 3D on TV, feature to attract you / change your working équipement for a new one to use one time this feature...

That's a high developers bias there. Considering and not all of us do or care about coding an such.

For the casual user, features like "advanced" wifi settings, are practically useless. As an artist I've yet to see android have something as good as the apple pencil. That feature alone makes it much more useful than any android.

Both the "s pen" and the " cintiq companion" (android's solutions) are inferior. Until an android device has something as good as the apple pencil iPads win hands down for artists. As for non profesional uses, for gaming the iPad is also the clear winner just because it has the interest of the best developers.

...I doubt you actually own an Android device. It's mostly a matter of opinion. But most of the common complaints about Android are completely unwarranted in the latest devices. If anything, there are far more shortcomings to be found in iOS. IOS is far too restrictive (no file access, iCloud is still realllllly buggy, no torrent apps, apps cannot get access to hardware so you can't use apps like wifi analysis, and many more). The sandbox has its benefits for unskilled users, but for techies it's really just a useless hassle.

I bought a Samsung tablet recently and it really is better than the iPad in almost every way. Same with the S7, it essentially destroys every advantage the iPhone had (except force touch, which is a huge gimmick).

Here's a classic example. Coding. I was recently on a road trip and got bored, and wanted to try something in C++. Wrote, compiled and ran the program all on my android tablet. Good luck doing stuff like that in iOS. I've owned nothing but iPhones since the very first back in 2007, and it really saddens me to say it, but the flexibility and capability of iOS compared to the competition is worse than I've ever seen it.

That's the only possible scenario I can think of on a mobile device but then the GPU is just as important if not more important for photo/video and the A9 GPU was head and shoulders above the others. I would like to see how the new s7 gpu compares (off screen test since the iPhone will have advantage on screen test due to lower resolution screen of the 6s plus). I just never felt the need to edit photos on a 5.5 inch screen when I can do it on a much bigger/faster computer but it is certainly possible for some one on the go to show a preview.
I can't think other apps at this Moment. But reading from the link that I provided stated that using chrome uses some mult cores. Game apps use GPU...

One factor to consider is ....location of the phone. If it's international s7 they use exzyno chip..which suppose to be higher performance than snapdragon. I noticed that websites use aututu or whatever they call it and result varies. So yes...we got to see it when it comes out.

I would like to see how GPU is as well.

Wow looks awesome. Wireless charging, waterproof, OLED, expandability, start your copying machines Apple.

Apple are working on true wireless from a distance, none of this charging on a plate crap you see today.

iPhone 6s is already pretty damn waterproof but they don't advertise the feature.

OLED I'm with you on that one, although it's hardly something you can copy by using it.

Expandable storage? Oh please. As if Apple would include this.

Are you talking about like cloud based "eco system?" If so, I believe samsung have apps that allow you to continue working on it....

If you say so, I may believe you.
I own a lot of Apple stuff because I yearly update all my gear. But I'm not an Apple fanboy, basically I prefer to be my hard-work gained money fanboy, that means, I give them to who promises me the best stuff I can buy without being ripped off. I'm waiting impatiently to read some real reviews about this new Samsung.
Anyway I'm not still convinced about working with Android tablets.

I do wish Apple would do the round edged screen

Have you used a Samsung phone with this feature, or does it just look cool? I think Samsung should keep it, to differentiate their products.

An iPhone with 1GB of RAM will still be more powerful than an Android with 4GB. Don't forget that small detail.

You're missing the point. It's flexibility. Android is extraordinarily flexible and iOS just isn't. The iPad Pro is a failure, a sad niche Surface ripoff that very few people will ever buy, the fact that Apple even bothered with it just goes to show that it is now a rudderless ship making the same dumb mistakes it made in the 80's and 90's.

This wouldn't be a big deal if the iPhone wasn't such an awful ripoff (there IS a reason Apple is seeing its highest ever profit margins in the new iPhone - it's because they're ripping people off worse than ever before). But Apple seems stuck in the year 2011 and it's going to come back to bite them in the end. 16GB base model for a fifth year running while everyone else moved to 32GB long ago, iCloud is still nearly as buggy as it was back in 2011, etc.

Honestly, Apple is really damaging their reputation among their customers. That's not something they can do for very long in such a fast paced industry.

I'm impressed with what Samsung, LG, Dell and others have done in recent years.
And less and less impressed with the overpriced Apple products. Yes, the software is (was?) better (although I had so many problems I'm not sure what's so superior anymore), but the reality is that Apple always gives us minimum specs and maximum price. I'm tired of that.

Free GearVR + Water Resistant + up to 200GB of add in storage.... commmon appple........ Let me iphone allow me to bring all my music with me again...... please!!! I'm tired of all these streaming services.

I mean, how cool would it be to have all your music that you own, with you in your pocket (again).

I have to admit, this is one gorgeous phone. Im glad Samsung pushed out an impressive product, so that other manufacturers have no other option but to give us an even better product. Competition creates perfection

THAT'S what iphone 6s should of been like

That Edge is pretty sexy.

Game over Apple!

Have to admit it. The idea of sliding in an SD card with data/music/ etc, freely is a temptation. SD prices have come down
the last year to where a 128 or 256 SD card is worth it. If Apple were smart, this is what they would do with the iPad. If it means upsetting Hollywood and the stranglehold on iTunes, then so be it. That would really increase sales within the iPad spectrum.

I gotta admin the S7 Edge is pretty sexy looking.

I do wish Apple would do the round edged screen

Wow looks awesome. Wireless charging, waterproof, OLED, expandability, start your copying machines Apple.

Could not disagree more with all of these comments. I hate how nobody within the smartphone category is even close to apple in terms of a complete product (software and hardware). I wish a company could step up and really produce a product to the level of Apple, but still we are stuck between choosing android or iOS, and for me android is not good enough.

I hear you. Because I have limited knowledge in android... I can only speak on what I found out. I remember back when s5 model came out...I wanted to get it but was hesitant because Eco system....so I did research on how to get documents and medics onto my Mac Pro...there were results from YouTube...and found some. I'm assuming that by now things should be more easier to transfer data without too much problem...and cloud like system on android and iOS or OS X.

Let's see:

* Headphone jack while still as thin or thinner than iPhone
* 3600mAH BATTERY WITH headphone jack and still as thin as iPhone
* Super AMOLED with QHD and dual curved edge screen
* Wireless charging 2nd gen (higher speed)
* MicroSD card expansion
* Qualcomm quick charge 3.0
* microUSB port for charging ubiquitous solution to a non-problem
* 100% focus pixels vs iPhone 6S/+ 5% coverage
* 12MP 1.4u pixels, 5MP front with dual camera recording (since galaxy S4 series)
* 32GB base storage
* Multi-color gorilla glass 4 front and rear
* IP68 dust proof-water resist up to 30minutes under 1.5m water - AND ability to record audio/video under water (since S5 series)
* Category 9 modem up to 450MBps downstream, 50MBps upstream
* pause recording video feature - super important to many
* active always on display, multi color LED indicators

You see that list above just makes the iPhone 6S/+ look outdated. Spec wise, it's superior to any iPhone.

But I'm a big android user and let me tell you I'm not gonna buy that ****. Because it's still android and not because it doesn't have pure android UI and that's a GOOD THING because the features of any samsung makes it stand out pure android sucks has no features and just too basic.

With samsung phones you aren't even sure you will get any updates next year nor any security updates. With all the android malware (look at this list in 2016: http://forensics.spreitzenbarth.de/android-malware/ 46 total) - including Stagefright which isn't even patched up in many older devices.

I'll just say with the recent apple fbi drama, I'm sticking my support with apple. My next phone will be an iPhone because I'm tired of all my data on android being captured by google and who knows who else it's a free for all on android. Unless you stick with a pure android device that will get updates, stay away from any other device because if you pay $800 for a smartphone and it doesn't even get updated in a year, you're better off just buying something a lot cheaper anyway.

Just my opinion and I'm done with android for now. There's no way I will buy any Huawei device EVER - nor ZTE devices as well.

Will the iPhone 7 camera be as good as the S7 camera? HELL NO IT WON'T!!!!!

Just had to get a little fanboyism out my system. :D

Are these phones really that worthy of a MR front page story?
No.
One of the major competitors whose phones actually look good aesthetically and functionally? Sure.
What? These phones are horribly unaesthetic and dysfunctional. Not even Apples own phones look good and work flawless. But at least you don't have to read the manufacturers name on the front every time you look at it. And why all these uncentered asymmetrical holes everywhere?
372.jpg
Plus this stupid non-reversible Micro USB 2.0 port with its mechanical hooks. Yes it is smaller than USB-C, but functionality and aesthetics? No, no, no.
We can compare and contrast these models with the 5SE and 7 later on this year.
But nobody does. We compare Apples products with their predecessors and with what we wish for the future. This is MacRumors not PCrumors. Non-Apple products have never been a concern.

Generally speaking, this place is more pro-Android and anti-iPhone than most Android forums. Looking at things through that lens provides a frame of reference for some of those posts you quoted.

That said, Android is far better than iOS for some people, and iOS is much better for others. If the Galaxy S7 provides more useful features for a person than the iPhone does, said person has received a "complete product" in their eyes. In my case, it boggles my mind that people paint the iPhone 6s as some sort of substandard product compared to the S7. The 6s is perfect for my needs... and the S7 is perfect for the needs of others.

I think we can all agree that Apple and Samsung's ongoing competition is great for everyone.

And you are missing mine. You still have your developer bias. Most people aren't developers nor coders. Shocking isn't it?

Not all users are developers in fact most aren't. The iPad pro for a "failure" still outsold the surface line. The causal user and non developers couldn't care less about "acceesing the hardware".

I ask you again, show me an android device that has a better solution to the apple pencil and i'll admit you are right. Otherwise for artists, teachers and such the iPad is the better choice... an no, both the "s" pen and cintiq companion are inferior.

I will never understand this bias google bias engineers have. Both apple and google are corporation that want your money and couldn't care less about you.

Casual people (aka literally everyone else) don't care about those things you developers and engineers do (what you call "flexibility").Apple gets this, google doesn't.

You're missing the point. It's flexibility. Android is extraordinarily flexible and iOS just isn't. Not impressed at all. If you want an android phone, there are better alternatives than Samsung. Stick with Apple.

You have to admit in the hardware department this thing blows iPhone out of the water. This is important to me because it means, if nothing else, that realistically it's possible to put out such impressive hardware, and it sets the bar higher for what to expect from Apple.

Would've agreed with you a year ago, but with the disaster updates with the iOS and OSX recently (Though there has been somewhat of a positive slope in the past few months), I'd say it's up in the air for software experience.

A this point I am starting to believe that Android will never feel like a polished product.

Difference is Samsung took away features and decreased the battery size on their phone. Apple didn't take away 3D touch and then add it again.

Samsung went the Apple route with memory and it did not work. They listened to the complaints about no sd card slot and small battery. Samsung fixed those 2 issues with the S7.
When Apple removes the headphone jack and hears the complaints will Apple listen? I don't think so. They still make 16GB flagship phones.
[doublepost=1456131077][/doublepost]
This is the problem with Android - too much choice and multiple releases throughout the year. I've been wanting to upgrade for several months, but each new phone has some bits I like, some bits I don't, so I seem to just keep waiting.

At least with Apple there's either the big one or the huge one. And that's it.

Actually Apple is about to announce a smaller phone so that makes 3. And Apple has 3 tablet sizes. And choosing a Android OEM is not difficult. If you want stock and timely updates get a Nexus. If you want a feature packed phone look at Samsung. HTC is basically dead, Motorola is nothing special and LG took a step back with the G5. And don't even consider a Sony phone.
