The Samsung devices offer faster speeds than the iPhone, more features on paper, and technically seem like all around better devices. I LOVE some of the reference and research features of Android and having used both operating systems extensively, I can honestly say, I find Android far more USEFUL.
Yet, I have an iPhone 4S and I just upgraded from an iPhone 4 I bought in June (AT&T is new to our area and allowed everyone here to upgrade at new contract price since they're new here). Why?
I'm sorry. I really am. This is not personal. But what you said above is essentially, "I had a phone. It was utilitarian. It was useful. It was efficient. The features were flawless. BUT, I went to iPhone because...
1. The camera is the best I've seen.
Really? Really? Really? A camera that you likely use once every blue moon (and if you use it more than that, you really need to be buying a REAL camera), and that was part of your decision to leave a perfectly functional phone?
2. Text messaging. Enough said. Apple knows how to get things like the software keyboard right.
People type text messages? I mean, I've been using Google Voice-to-Text feature since as far back as I can remember, using the keyboard to correct only, and really it doesn't even matter what device I use. In the rare instances I do use the keyboard, I haven't had much of an issue. If you have a 4S why aren't you using Siri for your texts at least?
3. Fashion. I won't lie, I choose iPhone as much for fashion as for functionality. Guess what? That's NOT a bad thing, unlike certain a certain carrier's ads make it sound. The iPhone is dang pretty. Have you seen a GS2? The screen's great. But the device itself? It looks really business-y. The only Android phones I would seriously consider competitive, possibly even better in this area are some of the Sony phones.
And this is quite possibly the most asinine reason to jump ship. "fashion"? Sort of like such epic failures as...
I swear, I never understand people who do this. The look of the phone does NOT matter and should NOT matter, and even if it did, Apple iPhones are the worst to consider for fashion since they all look the damn same. Want color coordination? GET A CASE.
Things I miss from Android:
Google Calendar integration, Google Sky Map, Google Talk (3rd party apps aren't NEARLY as good before you suggest it), homescreen widgets/customizability, Google Maps & Navigation.
Yeah, most of those things are Google services. But said Google services become a huge part of your life... and are genuinely far more useful than anything else.
In other words you acknowledge that Google's ecosystem of applications is more functional and would actually likely make you more efficient, but you're too worried about cameras and fashion to care. Do you understand why certain people call certain iPhone owners "sheep"? It's because you're not willing to get the phone that serves you best; you would rather just fall in line with the rest, tolerate the limitations of iOS so that it matches your skinny jeans.
Anyone reading this post, Samsung's video is pointing at this user directly.
