Are we forgetting that apple did the exact same thing with their Mac vs PC ads before they gained untouchable status? Showing the PC guy as a geek and the Mac guy as a cool hipster (douchebag). How were apple any different then to what Samsung is doing now?

WRONG, Apple's Mac vs PC commercials addressed the flaw in the PC. In the Samsung commerial, they clearly attacked the people who have iPhone. Labeling us as bang wagoners. Though I do find people who wait in line as stupid, I don't think you should attack your consumer if you're trying to sell something.

The commerial is funny but this commerial is definitely not gonna make any iPhone user switch and get an SGS2. Apple's Mac vs PC commercials were useful and informative about the advantages of a Mac over PC.

pretty clever commercial actually. I prefer this over the "your wife will love the tegra 2" bs

Samsung Commercial makes fun of iOS Fans

I wouldn't wait in line for any of this crap. If i'm dying to get it, i'll preorder. If that doesnt work, i'll wait until its available. Shocking, i know. But its just a phone. It doesn't make you invincible, or have an app to make your dong 3 feet long.

LMAO!! Well I think my dong being long enough I've go that covered; but it doesn't get you laid any faster, or more than the "lil' guys".

And this phone (iP4S/IP4) doesn't get you a girl either, dispite Mr. Jobs WWDC announcement of a user emailing him.

I think the MOST important thing to take away from this commercial is

"It doesn't look any different, how will everyone know that I've upgraded?!"
^ this shows that too many of us choose what suits us based on the clique on what others THINK!!

I have to wonder - why did it take me 4 trys back & forth between BB and iOS to finally accept the iOS device. And now will I do the same with Android (2.2 x 2, 2.3x1 skinned, and soon 2.3 again for ICS changeover).

I like the guy at the end who says "I won't buy that... because I'm original" :p

That really made me laugh, as I thought about all the cookie cutter iPhones being clutched by soccer moms, old people, and the big ego people that largely buy an iPhone to look cool.

Only to return to the Apple store to get educated on how it works.

Ahh, the hypocrisy in action. Much to do about nothing.

The greater question is, what will become of these incredibly insecure, vain people as the iPhone loses it's luster. Already every Tom Dick & Sally has one.

Just what happens when iPhone has finally saturated the market & is no longer the GOD of smartphones.

I think they're will be some very lost souls.

A pity really.

Haha, the thread title made me think this was some "In soviet Russia ..." joke.

Samsung wishes they had a line.

I think that was the main point, to poke fun of the Mac fan culture - the main one is waiting in line amongst peers - and it was for the reason of spiking curiosity. 5 ppl in this thread have already mentioned "what does the phone really do". IF Samsung has a theme of these phone ads this could really attack Apple where it hurst the most ... in the mindset of their users.

mmmm. Scarlett Johansen ;)

I think I'll give the LG Nitro a shot, at least until iOS5.x and IP5 ... I can say that BlackBerry training and devices gave me a job, while iOS5 gave me a larger pay and career :)

Incorrect. Samsung smart phones are more popular than iPhone as evidenced by the fact that Samsung sold more smart phones last quarter than Apple.
You missed my point.

Who cares how many they sold? Not me. Nor the "average consumer".
At the end of the day, Samsung made it look like iPhones are more popular.

And what flaws were that?

I've got over 10'000 flaws = virii, trojan's (not the one's you use as contraception), and male ware (not the clothes men wear).

And I've got another 10'000 fixes that continuously fail and need updating every month = virii definitions!

Oh here is more .... over 5GB lost HDD space on the definitions, plus another 500MB HDD space for the application to run those definitions.

Blue Screens - yes in Win7 still occurs.
network connectivity issues over network zone types.
Windows firewall causing network drive or dns namespace issues with share point intranet addresses over VPN.
No TRUE protected or encrypted user profile and the content within from other local or network administrators.

need I go on?!

You mean Viruses? Macs also get Viruses, Trojans? Macs also have those: http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2...isables-built-in-os-x-malware-protections.ars

Malware? Macs also have them: http://www.zdnet.com/blog/security/...h-ddos-functionality-spotted-in-the-wild/9701

Macs also have a screen of death:

Macs also have flaws.

Clever commercial. More of an insult to how prissy, shallow, and fickle Apple fans can be. Listen to the dialogue carefully and you pretty much can read that stuff all the time on MacRumors. A reflection on Apple fanatics.

"If it looks the same, how will people know I upgraded?"

"Why don't you get 4G phones?" (mocking voice)

And my personal fav to reveal how Apple diehards can be such poseurs...

"I can never buy a Samsung. I'm creative." "Dude, you are a barista."

Like having a phone that everyone wants is acting and thinking "creative." The irony in that line was Sammy self-deprecated itself before dissing Apple fans in the next line. Then we have Samsung still being accused of never being creative on their own. They probably showed more wit and creativity here than their GUI.

Samsung sold more phones (barely) during the last quarter, because everyone was waiting for the release of the iphone 4S. That was THE only reason. This quarter Apple will sell more once again. Hell, Apple sold 4 million in the first weekend it was available. Any company would kill for those kind of sales figures.

By the way, don't forget, Samsung doesn't count sell through for their sales figures, just shipping figures. Apple publishes sell though. So in the end, Apple likely sold more phones to consumers than Samesung.

And more Corollas were sold than any other car model. But I doubt people would choose a Corolla over BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, etc:

Poor comparison. An iPhone does not have a larger displacement engine, more leather/wood etc (things which are actually worth something) than a Samsung.

I get your point though, but the fact is that Apple isn't exclusive nor a more luxurious brand by any means. Nearly everyone and their mothers have one these days.

But their is an app that can save your life ;)

  3. Coach Saves Student’s Life with iPhone App
  4. Doctor Saves Life By Amputating Arm
  5. Boaters Again Saved by GPS App

Sorry, but none of the things mentioned in that webpage are exclusive to the iPhone.

-There are a number of medical apps on the Market, even one made by the same company mentioned in the article (American Heart Association). Also, I'm pretty sure most new phones these days come with an alarm application, iOS or not.

-GPS app showing coordinates? There are numerous free and paid options in the Market.

-Once again, plenty of medical apps on the Market.

-Um, that's just 'I managed to send an SMS to help me out!'. It's a nice story, but he could've done that with an old Nokia.

-A mapping application? Really?

If I came across as an a$$, sorry- that was certainly not the intention.

Please. I haven't experienced any BSoDs for years.

Haven't had any antivirus installed since installing Vista (now on W7) and haven't experienced any viruses at all. Even if I did install an antivirus program like MSE, it would only take up less than 100MB for the application and WAY less than a gigabyte for the definitions. Where are you getting these numbers?

No network connectivity issues, overseas or not, and I travel quite a bit.

Please, do go on.

Not sure which 'side' you're on here, but let me just let you know that Android has had OTA updates for a very long time, way before iOS.

His point is that device manufacturers for Android-based device are very slow at pushing out updates.

It might be months after Google releases the update before end users ever see it. The update process is like this:

Google -> Device Manufacturer -> Carrier -> User

He wasn't talking about OTA.

When Apple has a new update available they are able to push it out through iTunes whenever they want to all iOS users at once, android users normally have to wait for the hardware maker to skin whatever update Google pushes out (if they qualify for that update), and then for the carrier to push out the update once they have approved it to the users (not all at once but rather spread out through a few days/weeks)
