Weak. Anything that distinguished the Samsung phones compared to the iPhone - namely, removable battery and SD card slot - has been stopped. Plus the bloatware on the Samsung devices is horrendous and does more harm than good for the user experience.

This is the last desperate move from a company who never really knew how to push the boundaries, only how to imitate at a lower cost. If people want Android phones, there are far better devices out there; thankfully 'Android' and 'Samsung' are less synonymous with consumers these days.

Most people don't carry a removable battery, I know I never did when I had phones with that option, I agree losing the SD card slot is a loss but a lot of people use clouds to back up and view photos and stream music etc so it's not as big a deal. Don't kid yourself about apple not coming with bloatware. iMovie garageband yeah you can at least get rid of them but I didn't use the mail, calendar or safari not only can I not get rid of them but I can't make third party apps I like more the default. Traded my iPhone 6 for an S6 and $100 couldn't be happier to go back to android. Apple hardware is great but ios is clumsy and rigid.

You do understand that the purpose of ads is to gain new customers, right?
Advertising 101.

Advertising is a multi-purpose tool that isn't exclusive to persuading you to buy their stuff or change your minds.

Advertising is also used to help quell Cognitive dissonance in those who have already purchased your item.

the removable battery thing wasn't just to replace your battery when it dies.

one of the big issues with battery tech is there are just so many cycles you can recharge it. after enough charges, it will start to lose its power. and after enough time, it will not hold charge well.

this is universal. All electronic devices that use these types of batteries suffer from this. What a removable battery lets you do is, well, replace that battery when it is worn without getting a new device. sealing the battery in is consumerism and a form of planned obsolescence. when that battery no longer holds a charge, most people will go out and buy a new phone.

with a removable battery, you pay $30, swap in a fresh, new battery, and your device charge is back to day 1.

have done this a few times for some older peoples phones. They don't need / want to spend $1000 every 2 years to get a new device when they use it for text messaging and email. a $30 new battery keeps them going for a few more years to come.

Who looks at their phone sideways at eye level? Honest question. I see that side view as more of an "Oh... neat." thing and not really anything practical.

Fake British accent: "Samsung. We are digital artisans!"

They're just South Koreans trying to convince they have a good product to an anglo-centric world. Nokia succumbed by being excessively Nordic. Now, just because it has a Microsoft logo inside, it became cool. The strange thing is, Symbian or MeeGo would be better than Windows Phone if they continued evolving their own operating system. Of course, they would still need a splash screen showing an american logo.

It's time for Apple to increase their game with respect to the front facing camera. Selfies are not going away anywhere so this is an area that would definitely pay dividends with respect to delighting potential customers. Front facing camera should be about the same quality as iPhone 5 rear facing camera.

Better camera needs a bigger space, not sure how people will react to another bulging lens on the front as well!
Maybe Apple's biggest concern..

I dont see the issue here.. Apple did the same with the Mac vs PC guy.

That said, who puts their phone face down? Wireless charging is the only nice feature there.
Apple does need to bump the FF camera to at least 5mp though.

For every advertisement Samsung puts out bashing the iPhone, I turn to whoever is sitting near me and go, "this is why Apple is the gold standard" It's pretty much the same idea with LG and their bashing of the screen on the iPhone... Highly annoying. If you have to mention your competitor by name and/or clues in your ads, then you're not doing a very good job at making and selling your product in the first place.

Nah, the Apple watch charging system is bloody awesome - I would love something similar for the iPhone.
You just sit it on the charger, it snaps into place and *ping*

Maybe now the watch has it, they'll implement something similar? Who knows. It is still about as easy as plugging in a wire to the bottom of the phone though. If Samsung had a small magnetised 'wireless' charger that allowed for use of the phone I might think of it as being useful but its currently more limiting than plugging it in.

P.s. To anyone worried about who had wireless charging first... My toothbrush had it first. lol!

Apple and Samsung both sell a lot phones but that's beside the point. Like I said before, Apple has bashed the competition before...for all those who keep acting like Samsung is this evil empire, who has to sink to bashing other companies

Companies who bash their competitors are not the problem. The Mac vs PC ads were clever, and pointed out a lot of flaws with Windows that users were unhappy with.

The Cortana vs Siri ads from Microsoft do something similar.

The Samsung ads either don't make a lot of sense or insult the customer. For example: The S6 Edge ad needlessly mentions iPhone. Why doesn't it also mention the HTC M9? Or the Nexus 6?

"These normal phones don't have x, but our product does" would single the Samsung product out as special. By targeting iPhone but not seeing the other brands as worth mentioning, Samsung are helping deliver Apple's message of "We are separate from the pack; We are special."

It also comes close to mocking the Galaxy S6, which lacks an Edge display. This seems like really poor advertising. Imagine if there was an iPhone 6 Plus ad that said "Screens smaller than this suck."

Quite a part from anything else, the comments on the YouTube video show many Samsung / S6 Edge fans are critical of the ads. It seems to only appeal to the hard-core "We Hate Apple and Love Samsung" group.

Why did the Mac ads have to mention the PC. It was direct competition that's why. Apple is direct competition for Samsung and vice versa. When Apple would take shots at Android at their iPhone events, why didn't they mention Windows Phone 8? See what I'm getting at? Again, Samsung isn't the only company that does this. Samsung has taken shots at Apple, Apple has take shots at Samsung, Microsoft has take shots at both.

Samsung is basically highlighting its phone features, that aren't available in its main competing phone. iPhone doesn't have a wide angle camera, wireless charging, or an Edge display. This is honestly no different than the Mac Vs PC ads. That ad basically consisted of "The Mac is for cool people good looking people and does this and the PC is for nerdy idiots and can't do this" If samsung was trying to appeal to the "we hate Apple/love samsung group" then what was Apple trying to do with their Mac ads? Same scenario here.

Like I've said, for all the hate people are giving Samsung for this commercial...it's hilariously ironic when those same people then turn around and praise Apple...a company that pretty much did the exact same thing. I personally didn't see an issue with either ad but the irony of praising one company while condemning another is hilariously ironic.

All these people saying Samsung is trying to hard and needs to give up.

Samsung parts and technology are in every Apple device including the phones.

I know. It is silly for people to be offended. It is like the old BMW vs Lexus ad campaigns that went on for a while. The brands who should have been "offended" were Mercedes, Cadillac, Lincoln, etc. Those not worthy of comparison.

I don't understand why Apple didn't make their lightening connector magnetic like they are on the Macs. Would've been cool to just watch the magnet attach the phone to the cord. Plus I've ripped my cord out of the wall socket many times by forgetting it's plugged in while resting on my bed. I'm pretty techy but not techy when it comes to cords and all that so perhaps there's a barrier as to why they didn't do such a thing?

Like Apple bashing Windows?

That's the best they could come up with?.. that the iPhone can't frame pictures for you?

When I watched the video, I thought they must have cropped the iPhone's photo... Then I pulled out my iPhone and noticed that the front-facing camera does, in fact, letterbox the photo.

In all the years I've had an iPhone, I literally never noticed this (and I still don't care, now that I have). Samsung is going to need to find a more compelling interest driver if they want to move these things.
