I would love for Samsung to not have to bash the iPhone in their commercials. It's getting old . . . got old faster than the Mac vs. PC ads.

Besides, I have an iPhone 6 and sorely want to go back to an Android phone. If it weren't for iWork and iTunes man!

I concur with everyone else that says they want Samsung features in an iPhone. So far Apple has done a decent job taking pages from the Samsung playbook. Let's hope they keep up the good work.

I don't see how this is a bad commercial. The wireless charging is a good feature and I'm sure those who like selfies wouldn't mind a wider angle lens. Let's not forget how Apple keeps touting the heartbeat messaging on Apple watch, talk about useless. I like Apple but I'm no fan boy :)

The ads are ok. Except for the fact that they are clearly giving the 6 edge the spotlight here vs the regular S6 which would likely be more of a "1:1"

That being said - while I have no problem with Samsung doing a comparison ad, I think these ads could have easily stood on their own highlighting the features they did. "Selfies" are big now - and personally I'm not a fan and DEFINITELY not a fan of the new "selfie stick" craze here in NYC with all the tourists. However - noting that your camera has a wider lens is a clear advantage. Wireless charging is not a differentiator in the Android world, but still a notable feature as is the design and utility of being able to see notifications when you phone is face down.

My iPhone doesn't make a sound when I get a text or email, however my Apple Watch taps my wrist and I get the notifications without taking my iPhone out of my pocket/bag.

but you need to have your phone with you or both on the same wifi. my Gear S was with me at dinner, my phone was at home and yet I was still able to get all notifications, calls and use my GPS even BT Connected to my car. No need to take my phone out of my house.

The edge can flash all day but you are not going to see that in your pocket or bag, plus that screen will get scratched to bits sitting it face down on the desk like that.

My Note 3 sits face down all the time and has zero scratches.
Also, whats the point of wireless charging a phone when the wireless charger has to plug into an outlet anyway and the phone has a USB port, thats just more crap to cart around with you.

would be rather nice at night on my bed stand. just walk in at night, lay my phone down and see the edge of it as my clock, etc. and have it charge without my having to dock or plug it in each time. I'd use it.

But, hey, good luck to Samsung, they scoop up all the latest tech and fads a whack em into their products without any thought or even simple design ideas and hope that some of that shizz sticks.

there's something to be said for it. It's the principle of fail fast; succeed faster. Worked rather well for them on the larger format phones for years. In the case of something not working, that's okay too. anyone afraid to fail isn't likely trying their hardest to succeed. think about how well the iP6+ is doing today. they are doing well right? how many years of that same success and earnings did they leave behind by not coming out with it sooner? Lots.

6 greater than 6 ? Samsung can't count either..

The lighting on the Samsung may look good in a dark room.

I know my views on wireless charging and i'm sticking to it :p

If u can get more in on Samsung's view when taking selfies and not on iPhone 6, then maybe use a selfie stick.. That's what their there for. Or get a Plus.

After all, they try and cover good.... but its clearly a 6 in the video they compare with.. not a 6 Plus...

And that edge screen is supposed to be innovation which is just a fad and nothing much. Which most of the users wont even use it 2 mins after unpacking this phone.

I absolutely hate when any company tries to belittle other companies products and promote their own as superior. It's absolutely so petty and makes you look desperate. I wasn't a fan of the i'm a mac i'm a pc ads because of the same reason but I absolutely love the new Apple ads. Let the product do the talking. You never see presidential political ads just promoting the candidate and not saying anything about the other.

Where my iPhone and iOS feel harmonious, the Edge feels like it's fighting with it's OS. Pages and scrolls still jitter, integration with other parts of my digital world are not seamless etc.

Until that feeling of 'clunky' one gets on an Android goes away, the iPhone experience is always going to feel more 'premium', no matter what the hardware is under the bonnet.

fact.

But anything Samsung always gets people here in an uproar. Some act like their mother was publicly insulted. So I think the ads did a good job.

not to increase their sales.

^^ this. anyone who has held and used one will not say it's cheap feeling

we got this phone for my 8 year old brother as his first phone (and as a reward). it's okay. doesnt feel premium but doesnt feel cheap also.

I mean it is pretty clever advertising tbf - make everyone rage about how they just make fun of Apple to the point where people want to share how ridiculous it is, hence videos about their product shared millions of times.

It is not clever, and it makes them look petty. They look increasingly derivative. Plus, all the Apple bashing going on now is getting so tiresome. This ad does not work for them.

You might want to check prices of apple lightning cables and 3rd party charging pads..... Just saying ;)

Certified Lighting cables about $8, wireless charging pad about $18 (both on Amazon). Fortunately, Lightning cables have come down a lot from when they came out.

The thing that these companies don't get is that people buy Apple stuff on emotion more than they do features. They love the brand, they love the way the products look and feel. None of this bashing is going to get people to change their minds!

"they love the way the products look and feel" is not emotion, it's look and feel. Quite different. And, yes, Android feels like the phone designed by engineers.

A little curved screen on the side... Why? Seems like it covers a tiny use case and introduces another part that can break.

They are trying to differentiate their product with a curve that can only be done with AMOLED screens.

They are ideal phones for the 'ADD' generation who watch the kardassians etc

Samsung are like Android: quantity over quality.

Really interesting point.

Luckily the sales reflect this. They seem to be growing in areas where Samsung is genuinely ahead (mobile chip production, SSDs, etc) and behind in smartphones.

If you don't make your own OS, you cannot be a real leader in this sector. You will just will be there competing with lots of other hardware makers on razor-thin margins. Didn't we learn this from PCs?

Hmm, you don't sound much like you are even an Apple iPhone user at all. Past posts to now are starting to make sense. That's okay. Thanks.
I own a Nexus 6 and iPad air, so think again. I don't have to bow down to Apple in order to use their products.

They'll probably make fun of the 6 plus in their next note ad.

Wait??? You brought an 8 year old a S6 EDGE? Please tell me I'm reading this wrong.

Fair enough, I looked on apple.com and not elsewhere where they started at $19.

Very true, the Mac v PC ads were below the belt stuff from apple , the new approach from Apple is very good, and I am glad they have not returned to try cheap shot style of ads Samsung does.

A Galaxy S6 edge? I'm not sure if the 8 year old getting one is the problem here or your statement that it does not feel cheap. :)

What did you get as your first car? He he
