The thing that these companies don't get is that people buy Apple stuff on emotion more than they do features. They love the brand, they love the way the products look and feel. None of this bashing is going to get people to change their minds!
Completely right. I love my Macbook Pro. It just feels good to the touch. My iPhone and iPad are great... I really enjoyed every iPod I owned. The original Nano, while being a strange elongated shape (after in Mini), was an incredible feat in engineering.

Apple are loved and hated in equal measures because they inspired the next generation of mobile technology. People will always ride on one bandwagon or another but so long as they are happy with what they chose and use, why hate on others?

And you think this has to do with these commercials? I hope you're joking. I mean really? You think people out there are like "ohhh how horrible, poor Apple, how can Samsung be so mean!" Is that what you're telling me?

And beyond that, please tell me why Samsung should care about how people (like you) feel who have zero intention of buying a Samsung phone? I'd like you to explain your logic because I don't see it.
Samsung doesn't have to care about me or my opinion about how much I like Apple or dislike Samsungs 'not so clever or funny adverts'. Neither do you.

My iPhone doesn't make a sound when I get a text or email, however my Apple Watch taps my wrist and I get the notifications without taking my iPhone out of my pocket/bag. The edge can flash all day but you are not going to see that in your pocket or bag, plus that screen will get scratched to bits sitting it face down on the desk like that. Also, whats the point of wireless charging a phone when the wireless charger has to plug into an outlet anyway and the phone has a USB port, thats just more crap to cart around with you. But, hey, good luck to Samsung, they scoop up all the latest tech and fads a whack em into their products without any thought or even simple design ideas and hope that some of that shizz sticks. They are ideal phones for the 'ADD' generation who watch the kardassians etc

I don't mind comparing products in advertisement, but maybe Samsung should keep in mind that most people are smart enough not to fall for such absurd reasons in order switch to Samsung. At least give valid reasons... People are not stupid... And such ads would make us, iOS users more attached to Apple.

hmm.. I see a lot of fans bashing off the Samsung. But I have to say that the "competition" is moving on, where Apple is staying where it is. Dont get me wrong. I have a iPhone 4s, but the 5, and the 6 looks almost the same with some minor differences. I miss the innovation at Apples side. The wow factor. I guess that the iPhone 7 will be te same as the 6, 5, 4.. but maybe slimmer and faster. (hell my iPhone 4s is slow)

My 2 fraking cents.

I really thought Samsung had learned what Google is already smart enough to know: insulting Apple risks damaging your own brand because the brand is so strong.

If there are actual flaws with a product, mention them. (See: Microsoft's Cortana ad.) But Samsung is clutching at straws. It's not 'you know the rubbish camera in your iPhone? Well we've got a good camera in our phone' but instead 'you know that great camera in your iPhone, ours is slightly better.'

If a curved edge display is what customers want, they don't need to point out the iPhone doesn't have it. They just need to show they do. After all, no other phone has this feature, so singling out iPhone is very odd.

Don't confuse change with innovation. The first iPhone got a lot right, and there isn't a need to change what works. It's why it had the same screen size for the first 5 generations: they picked a screen size they were confident in. Where as Samsungs changed every year.

Also, it's easy to look at specs and think nothing has changed. Same pixel density on iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 6 implies the screens haven't improved. Pick up an iPhone 6 and compare it to your iPhone 4S... you'll notice the improvement.

well samsung has also had production problems keeping up with demand for the S6 edge. apple sometimes can't offer the latest and greatest tech right away because they need to be able to do it at a much larger scale an reliably and sometimes the production of the newest tech just isn't apple volume ready.

Samsung create artificial production problems to create supposed demand. It's no different to when they hired people to stand outside a store and pretend there was demand on launch day. It's laughable.

These ads... I love how the Edge ad is aimed at iPhone despite insulting every other smartphone on the market, including the Galaxy S6.

You have a pad for your home and one for the office and a USB wire in the car if you need it. The phone is almost always topped off.

Why do *you* put up with "carting around a power brick and wires" (and hideous, bulky "battery cases - :D) because your iP is perpetually on the verge of depletion?

This is half of the problem. Not just for Apple and Samsung but for you. You don’t apologise for your passion, seems embarrassing.

You should be getting devices that work for you. Apple only have loyalty to you as long as you’re in their eco system. All manufacturers should be working toward common standards so that I can get the best out of any product whether that be the iP6 or the S6.

The devices do work for me. They have from the very beginning. Where did I imply in any of my comments that they didn't. Stop putting words into my mouth. It may not work for you and that's fine too. As for eco system, doesn't bother me, never has, never will. I know one thing for sure, I'd never give my Credit Card to the Android store or have faith in it's security. And if warranty has anything to do with their eco system, Im glad Im with Apple. They have changed my phone over numerous times no questions asked. All in a quick visit to the Genius bar. Try that with Samsung :)

Erm....I hate to be the one to break it to you, Ace, but there are now Android watches that do that, too. I think they might have even preceded the Apple one.

I'm not sure if they "tap your wrist" like the Apple Watch, though. I guess maybe that's R/T the "tapping foot" thing in the airport men's room thing? I LOVE Apple's attention to detail, I must admit.

It is a good looking phone. Wireless charging does seem to be a bit of a convenience. There is a reason why Apple has the Watch use a magnetic connection instead of a plug (besides just waterproofing and style). The edge of screen is a nice detail and maybe useful. But it is definitely stylish. This phone will sell a ton. Not as many as the iPhone, but it will sell.

Android adds are often so targeted at young markets though. Selfies?!? And saying they are the "big new thing". It is such a weird choice.

Another beef I have with Samsung is not only do they implement gimmicky features every year, but there's no consistency or reliability. I hope you liked having a waterproof Galaxy S5 because you ain't gettin a waterproof S6. They forgot about the whole waterproof thing as if it never happened. The edge? Don't expect to see it in the S7, they will have abandoned it by then for "the next big thing" so hopefully you don't grow to like it too much. Don't worry, you probably won't.

The ads serve their purpose well. This thread is already 5 pages.

Not really. No one here is being swayed by this ad and the discussion is overwhelmingly negative. In this case negative exposure is not better than no exposure.
The only thing Samsung has ever proved is that "size matters." Virtually everything else they've done is a gimmick. Phone bumping still makes me laugh.
IMO, the Edge is less impressive in person than in photos. Other than the camera I see nothing of importance. I am extremely pleased with the quality of my iPhone 6 photos and videos.
BTW, I've always liked your user name. It's a good song from a great album.

If they had come up with something like the small, magnetic changing pad used by the Apple Watch, that would be cool. But Samsung's huge charging pad takes up a lot of desk space even when not in use, and is too bulky for travel or to fit in a pocket.
Yes. A magsafe circular thingie atrached to the back. You can still use the phone while you charge it. Doesnt even need to be wireless...

But, hey, just like the kindergartener declares, arms folded and nose upturned in indignatious triumph when he can't have that toy, "me diwint want it anyways!", you feel because iPhone doesn't have wireless charging that "me smewl a gim-uck!"... good instinct, little man Tate... er, Tony.
I sometimes play games on my phone, that drain the battery, a lot... Its a nice option, not really a replacement. A magsafe type thingie would be much better.

I have an S6 Edge, it's an absolutely *gorgeous* piece of tech. I honestly think it's the nicest phone on the market right now. Sadly though it feels let down by Android instead of complemented by it, and I don't think that's going to change any time soon.

Where my iPhone and iOS feel harmonious, the Edge feels like it's fighting with it's OS. Pages and scrolls still jitter, integration with other parts of my digital world are not seamless etc.

Until that feeling of 'clunky' one gets on an Android goes away, the iPhone experience is always going to feel more 'premium', no matter what the hardware is under the bonnet.

You assume that you/we* are the people Samsung is after, I'd argue they you/we* are not.

* We doesn't include me I like neither Samsung nor Apple phones but use Android.

This. +100

I was speaking to someone at work who is also interested in technology. They're reasonably unbiased (have a Windows Phone, and was making up their mind between an Asus or a MacBook).

I asked them: "Have you heard of Siri?" They said, "Of course I have."
I said "Have you heard of S Voice?" He hadn't.

Now people compare Google Now & Siri. Because Google actually works on Google Now, markets it, etc.

I was going to come here and post how Samsung should really just give it a rest and make up their own things without comparing their products to others. Then I saw your post.

Now I have a bit of a migraine and a desire to punch something.

Seriously though, I can't think of any advert series that comes off well when comparing a product against others. I didn't like the Mac vs PC ones much because of exactly this. There's just no need. It inspires a lot more confidence in a product if a company is confident and shows how great their products are - not in comparison to other things, just on their own.

SAMSUNG misses (and keeps missing) one of the oldest advertising rules:

You just don't talk or show anything about your competitors. Not even in fun.
That is, unless you have killer features that leave the competitors in the dust.

None of their "features" are deal breakers or must haves.
Given that many people cannot even take good photos, cutting out nana is just funny.

Wireless charging, not advanced enough for me to care.

Side view colored notifications, NOT. I can still look at the front or get buzzed.
Put that phone in your pocket on silent mode and your sideview is unimportant.

It's hard to knock anybody's matured phone these days, including SAMSUNGS.

That category can't come up with many additional ideas, only gimmicky things.

Watch SAMSUNG build in a selfie stick that pulls out like the old extendable antennas.
Can't put it past them as they have no taste:)

Samsung is a troll in the tech industry. They implement half baked useless gimmicks to try an position themselves as innovators while at the same time copying Apple's marketing style and everything they do but simultaneously mocking them and trying to position them as behind the times. Nice try Samsung.
