Notice how many apps are either released for iOS first or exclusively?

What I notice is that some apps come first on an platform and some come first on the other.
Like for example the recently released Steam app.
But most of the time they are released around the same time. It's not a big deal anyway.

Notice how your iPhones don't come with additional carrier software preinstalled?

I noticed that a lot of phones don't come with additional carrier software preinstalled.

Notice how carriers don't block software updates?

What I noticed is that in Europe for example updates come faster to carrier phones. Go figure.

Notice the wide selection of accessories and peripherals for Apple products relative to the rest of the competition?

I noticed that most phones have more accessories and peripherals available that I or anybody would actually need.

Apple has aggregated the best customers (in terms of spending power), and through us, Apple has a lot of leverage with third-party stakeholders, to the point where many bend over backwards to keep Apple happy (and by extension, keep us consumers happy as well).

LoL What are you talking about?
I think you forgot your claim that things like Price, OS useful level features, Expandable storage, Fingerprint scanner etc. don't matter because "the small iphone market has spoken".

Oh, Samsung has definitely stirred a hornet's nest, all right.
Its effectiveness is another debatable area though. As it is, the advertisement hasn't shown me any compelling reason for me to upgrade to a S9 over an iPhone 8+ or X. Not to mention that next iPhone refresh is due in a couple more months.

Well that's impossible anyway.
I doubt Samsung's intention was to make the impossible possible with this app.

Apple should run an ad where two people walk by on the street. One goes "oh hey I see you got the new iPhone X". the other goes "oh yeah and you've got that new samsung one." at which point he realises its actually a note 7 then dives for cover before a massive explosion occurs that appears to eminate from the samsung phone. "Stay safe. Get an iPhone."

Even better!!! The guy's iPhone battery explodes in his pocket (Which happens but doesn't get any press), then apple covers it up and lies to its consumers and blames them instead, as per company policy. Meanwhile the guy with the note 8 laughs at him because the company he bought his phone from admitted their faults and launched a massive recall with full transparency to prevent anything from happening to future Galaxy phone users. Oh...and BONUS...in the background an EgyptAir plane is flying towards earth on fire due to the iPhone that caught fire and killing several people. :)

Because Apple fans seem to be very emotional and because of that the word spreads like wildfire. So it's just efficient marketing.
The whole 'any publicity = good publicity' is tried and tested but that works both ways (yes, even in this advert). It's just sad that Samsung need to stoop to that level to get attention. If their phones are so amazing, why no just focus on them?

Yeah the only thing is nobody has been able to buy a Note 7 for more than a year and all the phones that were not returned to Samsung were bricked with a software update.

Well it obviously works in Samsung's favor as this is not their first ad with the "iphone x hair cut" if you understand what I mean.

It may be frivolous, but if any Apple Store cannon fodder suggested I upgrade as a way to solve an issue, there would be a serious chance collateral damage would follow.

I'm not a Samsung user, though I wouldn't be opposed to switching if I didn't have so much invested in the Apple ecosystem (typical excuse, I know). I do however like this ad. I think Samsung would be smart to make more ads that evoke positive emotions from viewers.

I thought it was funny, and they aren't hurting Apple by doing it. All they are doing is 'iconising' the iPhone X. Their adverts put the word Apple into peoples mouths. There are more people that have a positive experience with Apple than a bad one, so if this advert creates conversation between regular people I imagine Apple will more often than not get good feedback!

Thanks Samsung!

Well clearly the ad was not meant for those people.

The throttling problem is real so I don't see anything deceitful in Samsung's ad.
For example a lower mid range Mi A1(200$) absolutely trashes a throttled iphone 6 plus in app opening times.

No it's not, carrier prices are now at the MSP level. It's as simple as that.
[doublepost=1526636336][/doublepost]

LoL how did you get that idea in the first place?
S9's performance is on part of better than Apple's fastest iphone in general usage.
https://www.att.com/deals/galaxy-S9-offer.html
You might want to check around... Still being discounted

Only until 2019 when it gets back to its normal price of 79$.

Still about 10% of the price of a brand new Galaxy S9. Also, the S10, or whatever the name will be, will be out by then, making the S9 ad moot.
[doublepost=1526650717][/doublepost]Here's a worthwhile article that I shared a few months ago on a different thread. It comes from a reputable Android site, so the authors certainly don't have a horse in this race. Pay specific attention to the following section:

"The styling and features not jiving with my personal tastes are one thing, but I've been seriously underwhelmed once again with how the Note 8's speed has held up after a few months of installing apps and loading it up with data. Precisely as I experienced after three months with my Galaxy S8, the Note 8's daily performance has started to slow. Most things I do are quick and smooth, but there are still far too many instances now where apps hang up just a few beats before launching or scrolling, or animations stutter and drop frames.

If the script from my Galaxy S8 plays out the same way here, a factory reset should be the cure. But why am I factory resetting my $940 phone to get it to perform after three months like it did after three days? I'm growing even less tolerant of this behavior. It just shouldn't be a thing now, particularly in a company's super-high-end phone."

Yeah, the 15% of users who happen to contribute to over 90% of smartphone profits.

Why do you think Samsung is targeting us iPhone users over the rest of the android smartphone user base?

Because iPhone users are stupid enough to overpay for phones. If iPhone users are stupid enough to overpay for phones, maybe they are stupid enough to buy a Samsung. Not really smart by bragging how iPhone users are willing to overpay for devices.

I wouldn’t be either okay or care since they are companies that take our money and have no other value to me than to sell me a product and make it work the way it should. Don’t forget that about the Note 7 Samsung did a recall of the phone so no more damage would be caused, so if you want to go that way here you go http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ting-iPad-iPhone-cockpit-claim-relatives.html
I think you forgot about the part where Samsung denied and stalled for weeks while Notes continued to flame up and hurt people. It's easy to find a single battery overheating issue from every single electronics maker. It's rare to find this...

“Samsung has received 96 reports of batteries in Note 7 phones overheating in the U.S., including 23 new reports since the September 15 recall announcement,” according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). “Samsung has received 13 reports of burns and 47 reports of property damage associated with Note 7 phones.”

You say overpay, I say willingness to pay a premium for what I perceive to be a superior user experience.

LoL so you as an iphone fan feel mocked by the truth Samsung shower in their ad?
But most likely you don't have any problem with Apple.

I don't have any problems with the devices I use made by Apple. Their practices aren't always transparent or good, no, but my experiences with their products have been great so far.

Samsung are clearly mocking the iPhone and its users so I think feeling mocked is actually pretty reasonable.

Well clearly the ad was not meant for those people.
It was meant for iPhone users ready to upgrade. Most of them have had positive experiences with their phones so this commercial falls on deaf ears except for the 1% that were going to switch anyway.

This woman was literally crying in this commercial because she had a slow iPhone that was 3 1/2 years old. I cannot even imagine her emotional state if she was stuck with a 3 1/2 year old Samsung phone.

I mean... As funny as this is, it is a clear case of mockery. The "facts" in the advert can exist without this.

I understand why this site disparages the Samsung ad; but the reality is that it is clearly, carefully targeted advertising. It's aimed at people who currently own iPhone 6's, who are primed for a new phone. There's not much value in targeting iPhone 8 owners to switch right now.

You understood the strategy. Others here... not so much.
