If I were on Samsung's marketing team I'd be embarrassed right now. Why would you put out a commercial comparing your company's flagship model with your competitor's 4 year old model???

Did they think this wasn't going to be mocked and laughed at?

I can agree with that.

On a side note, aside from that notch haircut that guys look he gave to her in the commercial was as creepy as you can get. That poor kids haircut lol.
Yeah that poor kid! I think the dad looks creepy because he's thinking to himself that he didn't get paid enough
to get the notch hairstyle! :)

I would have preferred not to upgrade, but Apple does their best to force, or trick you into upgrading. Any service/diagnostic at the Apple store will come with a forced upgrade.

Also they have that sneaky, misleading dialog box to trick you into upgrading where the options are something like "Now", "later" and "details"... the only way to dismiss the dialog box is to click "details" (which I've already seen and am familiar with) when what I really want is "NEVER".

I can see that. I'm very careful when that message comes up but still worry I'll accidentally update.

When a new update comes out, I also immediately go to manage storage under settings and delete the updater from my IOS device.

Poor Samsung...It looks like they fell for a fake iPhone 6S. That font definitely doesn`t look like iOS =/

No but for real, even my old iPhone 4S with like 30min of battery usage running 9.3.5 doesnt take that long to load wallet lol.

They left out the scene where she asks to get her battery replaced but Apple refuses because she has a tiny crack in her screen.

Showing features related to a comparable OS, that didn’t even show any products. Not claiming that Mac OS X was better than Dos

They may not outright claim that OSX was better than Windows but its certainly implied. They spent a whole commercial showing how bad Vista was, then show a Mac at the end... what do you think they want the viewer to take away from that? My guess is that OSX is better than Windows.

False advertising anyone?

The iPhone is at least not as prone to explode in your hand as samsung , I'll take a laggy phone over that anyday

Samsung finally gets it. Their flagships compete with 4 year-old Apple devices!

Even over a Free brand new Samsung cell phone - I’d rather buy an older iPhone - or put up with a semi-functional one ... P.S. I love my iPhone X , I might even get the matching haircut lol

My travel phone is an iPhone 5. I don't care if it gets banged up or in worst case stolen or lost. But it is not half as slow as the one in the commercial.

Not all iPhone 6 lags though. However, like S9 does not lag at all... mehhhh smh

Why compared to 2014 iPhone? Weirddddddddd

Ps I didn’t see Note 7 at the airport though

Yep, I've almost done the same thing. In fact I almost did it a few days ago but caught myself (I'm skipping 11.3.1 and just waiting for 11.4 to come out). The one where it presents the unlock number pad is the sneakiest, making you think that Touch ID didn't register.

I understand why this site disparages the Samsung ad; but the reality is that it is clearly, carefully targeted advertising. It's aimed at people who currently own iPhone 6's, who are primed for a new phone. There's not much value in targeting iPhone 8 owners to switch right now.
This ad won’t get iPhone owners to switch to Samsung but it will activate all the fanboys and trolls who post in the comments sections of sites like The Verge. This isn’t advertising its trolling.

Pretty unfair comparison... shady. Apple Legal surely is on it...

Shady how? It's perfectly legal for Samsung to do this ad. Specially when the fine print says it's simulated and etc. If you have an iPhone 8, 8 plus or X what reason do you have to upgrade to a new phone be it a S9 or another phone? Chances are you aren't so why should Samsung market it that way? It's going after people who are upgrading now from older phones. And once again nothing illegal. That being said not sure if this is the best way to go after that market share but hey I'm not working for them

The fact that my iPhone 5 that I use for plane traveling is not lagging at all with the wallet app. Or showing white screen when loading movies app.

Is the iPhone 6 that much worse?
lol - false commenting!!! Yes, it's that much worse.

Mine is super slow for loading apps (it seems like it has to reload them each time I want to use them), doing day to day things that should run smoothly, but they do not.

And how do you know this? It's attempting to If it succeeds or not is not relevant to the ads meaning . And the verge is an Apple biased site. No where near BGR standards

I didn't think was too out of line. The iPhone is a very light use phone. Anything heavy and it really starts to crumble. My 6 behaved like this, my 8, and my third replacement X show signs of this on a daily basis. Not saying that's the case for everyone but I can barely get out messages half the time without issues on their phones.

I don't get the simulated part though. If the images are simulated, then the whole thing is bogus. Do they think their customers are just too dumb to notice that? I am sure it's legal for them to market this way, but I just don't get who they are marketing to. I guess their customer base?
