I can agree with that.

On a side note, aside from that notch haircut that guys look he gave to her in the commercial was as creepy as you can get. That poor kids haircut lol.
Haha, yes it's bad. What's worse is that other mobile manufacturer's are also starting to incorporate that darn notch into their 2018 models... I find this comical.

That is not accurate. It is as bad as Samsung portrays. The wife used my old 6+ for a week while we waited for parts for her battery repair for her 6s to come in (I messed up the tape that came in the kit). She commented how slow that phone was. Almost to the point that she said she did nothing other than phone calls and texts. That throttling is BS and really, really bad.

I pull out the old Galaxy S5 from time to time as it's the spare phone now. It's slow but nowhere near as bad as the iPhone. Need to get it to Apple for a $29 battery and sell it.

Well, because this guy’s wife said it was so, it surely must be. No more evidence needed everyone!

I understand why this site disparages the Samsung ad; but the reality is that it is clearly, carefully targeted advertising. It's aimed at people who currently own iPhone 6's, who are primed for a new phone. There's not much value in targeting iPhone 8 owners to switch right now.

poorly done anyways. shows nothing about the Galaxy phone.

Samsung Mobile doing Samsung mobile things. I might add that I love walking into a Samsung store when I got problems with said Samsung phone...

Hey...what happens when you go to the Samsung Store to complain about your slow 4 year old galaxy? Oh wait...they don’t have any stores. Thanks for reminding me why I stick with Apple.
Exactly why my friend bought an iPhone instead of trying to fix his Galaxy. It's apparent that these things are disposable.

I also noted how ridiculous the phone was when trying to fix it. Tap the build number in the info page 6 times to open the dev menu and enable USB access, like a cheat code in a 90s video game?? And that info was pretty hard to find because of how many different ways there are to do everything in the Android world (USB access is on by default in other versions).

Some of them are cheap, but most of them are sincere and accurate. Everything they mentioned were valid reasons everyone I know switched to Mac (younger gens don't use Windows anymore except for games).

So what is invalid or inaccurate about the Samsung advertisement? They are pointing out known issues with the iPhone 6, issues that people on this thread have agreed with.

So would you be Ok with an Apple ad attacking Samsung Note 7 phones that blew up and hurt users and damaged property?

Since Apple is obviously above this kind of ad campaign, I also believe them when they say they never lied nor intended to deceive their customers about battery throttling. Samsung is not above this so their Note 7 cover up seems even more likely.

How is Apple "obviously above this kind of ad campaign" when they ran the Mac vs. PC adds for how long?

You don’t compare an old phone performance with your new phone. If iPhone 6 customers like me are looking to compare, its comparing the performance of new phones I’m picking between.

Samsung finally gets it. Their flagships compete with 4 year-old Apple devices!

The strategy is; if you still own an iPhone 6, you should upgrade.
No different than apple telling you to upgrade your old phone.
Trying to get someone to sell a new phone for your new phone just doesn't wrk.

As much as I hate Samsung, there's literally zero wrong with this ad.
  • They're targeting people looking to upgrade, hence the iPhone 6.
  • They call out the lag which so many people in the general public complain about without Samsung's help.
  • They call out the performance management thing which came straight from Apple.
It's just a smart spin. Would have done the exact same thing in their position.

That said, the S9 is trash.

Agreed and I use an Android phone.

Showing features related to a comparable OS, that didn’t even show any products. Not claiming that Mac OS X was better than Dos

Most consumers look at ads for the comedy factor rather than to influence their purchasing decision. Samsung gets an A- for the lols while Apple gets a D- with those idiotic "what's a computer" and annoying genius type ads.
If ads aren't really there to influence purchasing decisions for most consumers then they are failing at the very purpose behind their existence.

I think people is just angry because is true. What I get from Samsung ad is:

1. Targeted to frustrated customers with slowed down iPhones.
2. If you have an "old" iDevice (which is only old thanks to an iOS upgrade) should you:
a. Upgrade to the notch?
b. Trust the company that throttles your phone?
c. Keep buying a phone that will be slow after 1 or 2 years?

as far as I can tell the only advantage the Samsung phones have over iPhones is a headphone jack

That's it, i'm selling my iPhone X. Enough is enough. Thank you, Samsung, for opening my eyes ...

This ad ironically shows that there are still people (as targeted customers) using iPhone 6 which is 4 years old with latest iOS.
What was the galaxy model used in 2014? Are they still using it? What is the latest android version supporting that model?

The problem is other than the headphone jack and camera module on back, there is virtually no discernible differences in the iPhone 6 through iPhone 8. Viewers will see the ad thinking that it's a newer iPhone model which unfairly paints Apple in a very negative light. (There will be obvious technical differences and limitations between a smart phone released in 2014 versus 2018.)
Yet they specifically point out that it's iPhone 6 with actual headlines in that commercial.
I get that yes, but most consumers outside of this forum wouldn't know the iPhone 3G from iPhone 8 by name only. They know it by how it looks. They see the phone in the ad and they're thinking it's the latest and greatest model (aside from the X). Samsung is merely taking advantage of most consumer's naivety.
If they were trying to do that they wouldn't undercut themselves by specifically referring to it as iPhone 6 in the commercial. Either they aren't doing that, or they are really bad at doing it.

Well, because this guy’s wife said it was so, it surely must be. No more evidence needed everyone!

Because it happened to one person doesn't mean it happens to everyone. The corollary to that is just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it didn't happen to anyone.

I think the evidence from Apple admitting it throttles phones by 50% or more would show that this guy's experience is certainly within the realm of possibility even though it may be at the extreme end of Apple's ham-handed way of handling its battery issues.
