Heh, judging by the the "it sucks" and other fanboy comments, the advertisers at Samsung did their job quite effectively.

You saw, you raged, you remembered and thats all they needed.

Just going to point out FaceTime rip off of other products. Android already had video chatting before facetime. Just figure I would point that out to you.
Not intergrated in the the OS you still have to download a separate app that the other person has to happen to have too. Right?!!

Saying "it sucks" to a device that they've never got their hands on and some even jumped in and said it's outdated because it has a stylus. Well, think of the Note as a Wacom tablet with a screen.

We already get the Note here. The US mobile industry is very tightly controlled by carriers. Here, manufacturers just push updates directly to customers without going through carriers.

That doesn't mean it's good.

(My rage isn't over the fact that they're making fun of Apple; it's that the US versions are designed HORRIBLY. Other than that, pretty good devices.)

And the difference is? It's only integrated into the OS being that instead of tapping an app icon, then going to contacts, and then calling, you tap an app icon...go to your contacts....oh wait.

FaceTime Over 3G? Nope! Even the phones that could do video calling before the iPhone could do it over the cell networks. The other person also has to have FaceTime too, don't they? In my opinion, FaceTime is some of what a flawed system is. If they really want to kick FaceTime off, they need to open it to other devices that aren't just Apple products, and for god sakes, let it over the network!

My international Galaxy S II can make video calls over 3G.

I know I'm gonna get pounced on by fan boys but this commercial is so true. I live in NYC and saw lines several city blocks long for the iPhone 4s at several locations.

The Galaxy line are better products in my opinion, have cheaper plans, Flash and the freedom to put whatever you want on it.

The stylus is a definite plus not to mention it is 4g which was a shocking omission from the iPhone.

I know lots of people that will only buy Apple because its Apple. Which is fine. I used to be one of them.
Good luck with that!
I hate flash. It kills even the battery on my computer. I really don't want it on my phone. Even adobe is trying to move away from it because they know it sucks. They just needed to drag out long enough for them to come up with a solution that keeps them involved. I don't have G4 in my market and would much prefer to actually be able to use my phone all day.
If the iPhone had a stylist I would never have bought the first one. I had that with my palms and lost them constantly, a real pain!

If Apple ever comes out with a phone that big I will definitely not be buying it. Anything much bigger than the current phone is uncomfortable in my hands. I prefer typing and such with one hand. Not having to use a pen. LOL!!

Since people are lost on this: You do not have to use the pen. You can also use it like a regular smartphone. It is a multitouch capacitive screen.

Which is funny, because I have normal sized suit trousers that fit my Note just fine.[/QUOTE]
I really find that difficult to believe. You must wear a Zoot Suit because I just don't see that thing fitting in current fashion suits. And forget jeans that aren't the saggy pants type. The damn thing is the size of a small notebook.

I have had a note for awhile and I love it. I love handwriting in English/Chinese with the pen and jotting notes with it. Honestly I would find it hard going to back to a phone without a stylus.

The commercial is over-the-top and not as witty as the first one for the Galaxy S II. Running out of gags and fresh ideas, Sammy. They decide to use THE DARKNESS' song out of the blue.

But to be fair, at least they hired Miranda Kerr in this one. Samsung is actually complimenting APPLE FANATICS by hiring attractive actors and actresses.

Look on the bright side...

...at least we know what Hoshi from Star Trek: Enterprise is doing nowadays.

(Yes: I'm fairly sure that's Linda Park playing the cute girl in the beanie).

Anyhoo: apologies for the interruption: normal posturing may now continue...

:)

PS: Portable comms units and a Star Trek link: who'd have thunk it...?

Ever since the Note was announced like last Sept, I wanted one.

First time I actually saw a person own one was this lady at a Family Fun Day for my 9-year old cousin's 4th grade class last Sat. But I saw one at the store last Dec and again the other day. Too big for my taste. It is like the Dell Streak. One-handed operation is the most important to me when it comes to choosing a phone. Even something like the BlackBerry Bold 9900 can get too wide for me. What a difference 5mm can make in the palm of the hand.

But I am still "drawn" to the Note's stylus and big screen. I think it would be fun just to doodle around with it. The S-Pen brings something different to capacitive touchscreens for a change. Think more of it like a mini-tablet than a gigantic phone. It has alot of ads here in the Philippines and marketed alot by one of its top carrier, Smart. You can get it FREE with a 2-yr data ONLY plan out here if the minimum is like 2000P per month which is like $50. Looks to be a surprise hit here in Asia.

I can safely say it has brought my attention to what a cheap rip off manufacturer Samsung is, I previously had no idea and would by a TV etc now I won't buy a thing from them ever.

People here seem to not know how the Note works. It works with and without the Stylus, plus if you bother do some research, it works differently than a capacitive stylus and the pen doesn't work with other phones. Ignorance is bliss right?

Ignorance is paying millions for a Super Bowl ad that misleads potential customers into believing that your product requires a stylus.

Wow, I can draw on the screen... why? So I can circle a map... I can hold the phone in front of my mouth and have it video stream ... my mouth. I can video chat with someone.

This commercial presents an iPhone-a-like device being an iPhone. And that makes Apple people flip out.

The next big thing is already here.

Small print at the end..."coming soon."

Yeah, that made no sense, but neither did the commercial. What was the signif of the guy at the end with the giant laptop in black? Is that supposed to be an Apple enthusiast?

This commercial was a mess.

Bizarre but true...

Shame they spent all that money in a superbowl ad that was stupid.
at the end of the day, people won't stop buying iphones because it's "an iphone"

Samsung marketing girl (looks very young) says she wants people to lust after Samsung phones, she wants to copy the fervour that Apple has.

I doubt Samsung has the cachet or panache to pull that off, but essentially her ads make fun of people for being what she states she wants her products to be.

I find that bizzare.

This doesn't encourage me to rush out and buy Samsung, I still see most Korean made products as low end anyway.... LG is Goldstar with a different name, Samsung and engineering and shipbuilding outfit with a phone division.... Both of them cheaply made too, you an tell when you pick them up.

I like Apple products but my god are the fanboys humourless dolts. I'd like to try this phone; it's different. Whether the experience I have is a good one not is something different altogether.

I think everyone knows that already, but I suppose the rip off is because the UI during the ad looked so much like something Apple would've done.

I run into guys all the time that defend everyone ripping off Apple because of the Xerox thing.

If anything, I'd like a Note with JUST a data plan, I can't actually imagine taking calls on it.

Um, not really. They need people to BUY their phones. And judging from the negative reaction in this thread, telling your potential customers 'your a loser if you buy an iPhone, buy a Samsung and be cool' isn't very effective. Although I did like that they put The Darkness and Miranda Kerr in the same video :D

It depends. I had one person after ask me what I thought of Apple's commercial during the Super Bowl with the dancing people waiting in line.

I'd be willing to bet that if you polled the average consumer this morning, which is who a Super Bowl ad is really targeted at, not fanboys, they might not even remember it was a Samsung product. They might remember people waiting in line to buy something from Apple, a guy singing in a colorful outfit, football fans might remember Brian Urlacher, and someone writing on a computer screen.

Contrast that with an iPad commercial. You can guarantee that people know what that ad was for, what you can actually use the product for, and that it was an Apple product.
