Very well written, I personally would not buy a Samsung phone but I cannot deny that its features are damn amazing. My next purchase will the iPhone if it has a bigger screen, if not then I shall consider the Note II, S3 or even Blackberry 10 (the beauty of being open to other choices).

I was really hoping that the 4S would have a larger screen since it ties in so well with my car's nav system (office features, internet radio, apps, iPod interface, video output) but I can't use the iPhone's (relatively) small screen on a regular basis (bad eyes = fonts need to be larger & larger fonts + smaller screen = little text on screen), so now it's relegated to being a car media center. It's a shame :(

Anyhow, like previously mentioned, there is no upgrade to the Note because there was no precedent, it's a new product from Samsung. We can start judging the Note II if the upgrade is not significant enough.

That's what I said but he insisted that it's an upgrade to it to other Android phones solely based on the fact that the Note is an Android phone as well? Bit confusing really.

We're going to look back on this thread and one of two things is going to happen...

1) The Galaxy Note changes the game, 5.0"+ screens and stylus pens become all the rage, Apple and Windows Phone have no choice but to follow suit and adapt to this revolutionary change in the market. An "iPen" becomes the biggest selling point for the iPhone 5, which is also noted (hah) for its 5" screen. iPen replacements will sell for $29.99 at the Apple Store. We all wonder why the stylus was abandoned in the first place, how ever did we live without it?

2) The Galaxy Note fails to impress anyone, marketing campaign was seen as a bust, and the phone is doomed to "what-if?" status. They are being given away at BOGO after three months, then for free on a new contract before fading away like every other "innovative" Android device before it. It is a distant memory in the minds of consumers, but is a cult hit among devout followers.

3) A new group of fans is formed... say... 'Galaxy Note fans'. Galaxy Note fans and iPhone fans live together, and GN fans buy Galaxy Notes and Galaxy Note IIs while iPhone fans buy iPhone 4s and iPhone 5s. Everybody is happy.

Not everything in this world is black and white, my friend.

Where's the confusion again? You're suggesting that OEMs don't try to one up each other? I think you're easily confused...

Just poor wording, then.

An upgrade:

Wikipedia said:
The term upgrade refers to the replacement of a product with a newer version of the same product.

...would indicate that there was a previous iteration of the same or similar product.

What you really should have said was 'upgrades when compared to Android phones in its class'. Of which, of course, there are none. Well... not until the Optimus Vu comes out ;)

No confusion here- just poor wording. You initially mentioned 'upgrades' for the Note but what you really should have said was 'upgrades when compared to Android phones in its class'.

I thought it would be obvious since the Note is a new phone, that I wasn't talking about a unicorn phone called the pre-Note. In the future, I will try to clarify the obvious.

No need to insult me- some people just can't admit when they are wrong. And that's not a problem, just leave out the little jab at the end :)

Ok well let us also know when you're out of your unicorn world.

Edit: If we use your definition, then the Note is an upgrade from the Dell Streak. That said, it is one hell of an upgrade...

CPU
Camera
Design
S-Pen
Size
Screen
Ram
Android version
And more...

I think the commercial worked great!

I went to iTunes to buy "The Darkness'" Album. And downloaded it to my iMac, iPad, iPhones & my AppleTV. Thanks Samsung

Have you updated it to the latest firmware? Mine is as smooth as my 4S and it is completely stock at the moment. Tried out the custom ICS but decided to revert to stock since official ICS will be launched in less than two months.

I hadn't checked for a while for new Firmware. Thanks for the tip. True enough, a new one was available. The stock browser feels a little smoother now, but it is still a far cry from the smoothness of iOS's Safari. Sticking to Opera, which is still the smoothest browser for me.

Battery life is certainly NOT on par with the iPad IMO. On continuous browsing I get maybe 60% of the runtime of an iPad.

Still it is a good phone. The stylus thing is maybe overrated, though. ;)

A has-been band singing an old song to sell outdated technology. Don’t worry though, there’s an obligatory shot of a skateboarder doing a fancy jump off some stairs. Skateboarding is still hip, right guys?

Everyone associated with this ad should be ashamed for themselves.

Samsung. Again.

You joined just to post that?

Anyway, the technology isn't old - it's quite new if you'd read the thread. The pen is also optional - use your fingers most of the time, use the pen when you want precision.

As the barista dude said, the ad was "over the top". Intentionally. Silly. Fun. Memorable.

And it's selling Samsung. Again., not any particular phone even though about 10 seconds of the ad mentioned one new model.

Oh look, pot calling kettle black. A typical response from apple defense force.

Were you i'tards also ashamed when apple ran "mac vs. pc" ad for three years straight?

I just lost so much respect for Samsung
Go cry me a river. I doubt you even had an ounce of respect for Samsung anyway.

1) It will never happen, Apple will never ever consider using a stylus for the iPhone. If they do, well I will laugh at people here saying it's a stupid idea.

I guarantee an idevice will incorporate a stylus in the future.

I played with the OneNote while in Dubai earlier this year at some trade show. Its an interesting little tablet and that is exactly what it is. It will be better with ICS. Still though, a Stylus in 2012 is pretty strange for consumer devices.

The only places Stylus go with mobile computing are on engineering or technical tablets that require fine annotation to drawings etc. or in some situation that require signature capture such as medical tablets.

If god wanted you to use a stylus he wouldn't have given you fingers. Haha

How retarded is that.

Samsung creative department

Oh I have a finger. Oh I know let's get away from simplicity and sophistication. Let's add something.

Dumb. You remove steps not add them.

By showing "weirdos" using a stick instead of their finger?

I think the ad makes more fun of Samsung.

On the contrary, the ability to do pencil-like drawings is quite handy in everyday life. Back with Windows Mobile phones, I was very used to drawing little diagrams, with dimensions penned in, to refer to when I went to Home Depot... something that I now have to do on a separate piece of paper.

Then there are all the students and businesspeople in the world with iPads, who today attempt to jot notes using a stylus that emulates a slow fat finger. I've bought almost every capacitive stylus model and they're nothing compared to an active stylus.

Folks, the sheer fact that there are so many stylus versions already being sold for Apple touchscreen devices, along with pen based note-taking software, is solid evidence that lots of normal people do have a use for them. The desire for optional pen input is clearly here already.

As I pointed out, there is even a company that sells an active pen for the iPad (the receiver plugs into the expansion connector).

The ONLY difference with devices such as the Note or HTC Flyer, is that they include built-in active pen support hardware and software instead of such support having to be done via a dongle... and that makes them attractive to all those who want finer and faster pen capabilities.

Let me chop off your fingers. Tell me, how do you plan on grasping the stylus?

God gave you feet. Walk, don't use contraptions like the bike, motor vehicle, bus, train or airplane. God gave you a voice. Scream, don't use the telephone.

Sounds retarded, right? Yeah I thought so too.

In case you don't understand, you can still use your finger  They didn't add steps, they gave you an alternative type of step.

People queuing outside a store = a bunch of weirdos

I'm sorry, but lining up outside a store for hours or even days is just peculiar.

That has to be the silliest reply this year. Congratulations :)
