Did your foot stomping rant make you feel better.? Curved screen is pretty! Curved screen lacks meaningful functionality. It's a gimmick. I stated clearly it's Samdung's nicest design and a quality device.
Yes, it's selling well but still not approaching iPhone sales levels. It's good it's profitable because their mobile division profits have sucked Yak nads recently.

As for Apple's future interest in curved screens, if you go back several years, pre-dating iPhone 5, Apple was rumored to be looking at curved screen designs. Apple will do it when it adds something to the experience.
Enjoy your Samdung!

Oh god, here we go again with the "apple had the idea first/they'll do it right" crap. And that wasn't necessarily a rant. I'm just calling you and a lot of the Apple brigade on yalls BS. Like I've said before, all the things that you say about Samsung can be applied to your beloved Apple. Apple copied and they also followed trends as well. Oh but I forgot, when Apple does it...its OK. They're not copying...they're just "borrowing ideas" Lol smh.

When its anybody else, all of sudden its the worst thing ever and the apple fans start crying. And seriously the "Samdung" thing is stupid and isn't clever at all. Lol jeez dude. And yes I will continue using my S6 Edge, over my 6+...considering the S6 is the better phone in pretty much every category known to humankind Lol

Well apparently you didnt, considering you took the time to actually respond to me lol

Engineers are designers too!

This is hilarious. This can't be real. Samsung is a design company now, lol.

"design company"? Do you mean "designer label"?

Samsung is more of a design company than Apple, if we're really talking the whole gamut of design. But you probably mean more in regards of fashion design or consumer product+UI design, right? Both companies have their strengths and design is intrinsic to those strengths, but you can't be a conglomerate and a designer label. Just ask Acme Co!

Still, Samsung has marketed the importance of design in their countless brands for 20+ years. This isn't new; just a different style on the smartphone side. They've won hundreds of prestigious design awards - but Samsung is just a totally different beast from Apple. They build and operate beautiful hotels, built a leading edge cancer center and some of the world's tallest buildings and largest ships, they designed and built earthquake-proof bridges, they develop drugs, batteries for electric cars, memory chips, efficient kitchen appliances, and countless technologies for consumer devices. Oh, and they run a big theme park. And waterpark. Oh, and a horseback riding ranch for disabled people. And probably a bunch of other stuff I wouldn't think of.

And before the trolls troll, no, I don't work for Samsung. This is an Apple household through and through.

Galaxy S6 sales disappoint in Samsung’s home country
"Korean wire service Yonhap News reports that the company is seeing disappointing early sales in its own home country."

If I were an executive at Samsung HQ, I wouldn't be laughing right now.

Clearly somebody is buying the Edge and I think its clear as day that its selling pretty damn well.

For example, if Apple made a speaker that looked just like Braun's that would be copying. Perhaps Apple got inspiration for the iMac from Braun's speaker – or maybe not, I wouldn't know.

Actually, the iMac didn't take any inspiration from Braun's speaker. There is not the slightest similarity between them. All there is is a photo cleverly taken from the side showing a silhouette of speaker and iMac looking similar - the view from the side is obviously not what any owner of those speaker or user of an iMac is interested in.

In reality, these Braun speakers are close to man high and even wider, and the giant speaker is held in a steel frame, connected on both sides. Totally different from the iMac, which has a foot in the middle going up, and the iMac hanging from the extension of the curved foot. Someone owning the speakers (which were a life time investment, so if you bought them you likely still own them) and the iMac wouldn't actually see any similarity between them.

Yes, it certainly would fit their history. They love to parody things, even though the humor sometimes flies over the head of people (who are often the very targets of their parody.)

They've especially often mocked people who act like the latest tech makes them look cooler or will impress the opposite sex (e.g. their Gear watch ad with the sleazy guy, or their folding tablet concept video with that guy with his flashing tablet).

Even their oft-slammed Radio City Music Hall show was actually written and produced by top Broadway people who later wrote for Adam Sandler movies. They thought a New York audience would get the sly Sex & The City type of jokes. Alas, most of the audience were reporters who were not from New York, and therefore failed to see the parody.

(Before I lived in NYC, I didn't get half the jokes in NY plays and TV shows either. Especially ones mocking other boroughs or the "bridge & toll" people ... those who commute into the city instead of living there.)

In this video on their own YouTube channel, someone at Samsung seems to be mocking the way that Apple tries to make their products sound so pompous and important, from showing meaningless images of vague machinery doing common things, to fake English accents and vapid phrases about materials.

It's all about having class.

Famous designer Philippe Starck (yes, the one who did Jobs' yacht) once ran up to Dieter Rams at an LA exposition without even saying hello, and cried out, "Apple is copying you!"

Rams replied, "To me, it's a compliment."

Too bad Apple and Ive aren't as classy when it comes to others being inspired by their work.

Samsung seem to have left their 'class' at home.

The "Edge" is still selling like crazy, making Samsung a hell of a lot of money. Its limited sure but its the first of its kind on the market. When Siri first came out for the iPhone, it was limited too. Some would say it still is especially when compared to Google Now and Cortana.

Its easily the best looking phone out right now IMO. It honestly makes the iPhone look dated IMO. And it's a "me too" design? Wtf does that even mean? Are you trying to say Samsung is just trying to be like the other millions of dual curved screen phones on the market? Oh yeah, there aren't any. Wanna talk "me too"? Look no further than the 6+. Apple was just following everybody else. They pretty much did a complete 180 on their smartphone philosophy. And there's nothing wrong with that. Big screens are what's in. But its hilarious how a lot of apple fanboys (huge difference between fan and a fanboy) are quick to accuse Samsung of following and/or copying when Apple pretty did the same thing. Hell even iOS 7 copied a lot features in android.

Hell there's even a rumor that, with Apple filing for a dual curved screen patent, that the iPhone 7 will have a curved screen similar to the S6 Edge. I hope they do that, just to hear the excuses the Apple fanboys will come up with to defend Apple's use of the same "gimmick" that the apple iFans bashed Samsung for.
And Samedung? Who comes up with this unclever ****? Smh lol.

I checked out the S6 edge today...the curved screen looks pretty cool, but the overall feel is super cheap and tacky. No way does the iPhone 6 feel dated in comparison. The S6 edge feels like a mid range phone in compared to the iPhone 6

I heard that the S6 Edge actually feels better in your hand upside-down.

The curve fits your hand better that way.

I haven't held one myself... but I can imagine it does.

Maybe curves are best reserved for the backs of phones. :)

And that's why their design is always one step behind.

Yes but and pardon the pun - what gives Samsung the 'edge' is of course Android!

Now if only Apple could come up with a mobile OS that was as much fun to use and liberating then they might be on to a winner. :p

Whilst both offerings feel mediocre when compared to the Xperia range from Sony.

Do I have to point you to lots of conventional watches with spinning crowns that are aligned centre?

But are you using them constantly. Either they are for winding off wrist or the odd function change or setting the time. Not used moment to moment.

But i am surprised they didn't use touch sensitive case on the right side of the watch would provide the same function without a physical dial. Just slide up and down

They could have moved the button to the left side to be pressed by the thumb.

"... Carving from blocks of aerospace-grade aluminum, ..."

The person speaking is just trying to mimic an English accent. Samsung just HAS to copy everything Apple does... down to design videos, and the accent.

Samsung is counting on those easily confused by such things.

Oh, but they'll realize the error of their ways soon enough.
:p

Too funny. I had the same experience, but was afraid to admit I touched one. iPhone 7 Apple? You can copy too you know. ;)

Remember when Dell tried to rip off Apple's Macbook design video by hiring another guy with a foreign accent to explain the design process behind Dell Adamo?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cpMHEqtoUQ

This was in 2009. Adamo went down in history as one of the worst Dell products.

OMG that was horrible to watch..

Must have won a price for the highest amounts of "umm", "ehh", Uhhhmm" in a single promo video ever.. :)

I wonder where Apple got the idea for larger screens on their range of phones?

I'm sure they would never resort to copying!

All companies copy at some point or another. Tech is an industry where inevitably there has to be some copying because there is only so many ways to design something or whatever. A phone or a tablet are basically the same shape and roughly the same sizes. How the hell is one company supposed to not copy others as far as this stuff goes? Make it triangular? A circle?

You know what I'm getting at here.

BTW, the new Samsung phone does look damned cool..... I must say.

Well, I'm only going by their marketing here. They are trying to portray themselves as a design FOCUSED company.

The only thing this company is truly focused on is removing money from gullible wallets, with little regard for how their products are actually used.

Design is ultimately about how a product is used, and that's something that Samsung mobile seems to have a very difficult time with grasping. This commercial and most of their marketing proves that quite frankly.

Not sure about the horseback riding farms and amusement parks though. Maybe that's what they excel in.

ROFL! This would seriously make me ashamed to buy a Samsung product. It is almost like watching a SNL skit, except I am 99% sure that the video was meant to be a real commercial.

As does Samsung's IT and Mobile Communications group's poor financial performance demonstrate for the last two quarters.

Not sure about the horseback riding farms and amusement parks though. Maybe that's what they excel in.

I suspect their horseback riding farms business unit is on solid ground.

Have to give it to shameless Samsung.

Let apple show the way.

Let Apple show how's done.

Then sell the copy at a lower price.
