I'm not sure you're the target consumer for either handset maker. You prefer user-replaceable batteries. My conjecture is the phone is not going to be much of a game changer and Apple is not going to lose their market share. Conjectures are fun.

When was the last time you used an Android phone? It’s not been a crappy mess for quite a while nowVery nice hardware... I really wish Android wasn't such a crappy mess.
Most apps are exactly the same as on iOS.Android is superior to iOS, far from crappy.
The apps are not that well crafted
Folding phone aside, Samsung phones are actually focusing on real world specs for improvement. rather than silly gimmicks only a handful of people actually use. But I'm sure the kool-aid drinkers will chime in shortly about the "user experience"...
It's almost like Apples failure to innovate in the software realm is now showing in the hardware realm too. Even the lowest tier model has double the RAM as the XS. And yes, it DOES make a difference in usability.
The entire history of computing has illustrated a constant, increasing need for more processing memory. You don't even have to look too far back in Apples own product line to see a graveyard of good tech left behind by their decision to kneecap their hardware to drive future sales.
I'm going to make a not-too-bold prediction: you're not gonna hear about missed sales targets of this line of Galaxy phones.
Ear buds are time limited and if you buy straight from Samsung. Most people buy phones through their carrier. They will not get these earbuds.Of course you will hear that. They have to give away a lot of freebee’s, it starts of with including wireless earbudds to start up the Sales. And it will end the same as with any other model they make: too expensive for the user-experience you get (if there are no hardware issues). Patience is my advise here for what it is worth, when you have to fight for a position based on hardware specs you already lost the battle before it even started.
Not happening!Well done Samsung! In-display finger print sensor, notchless, and plenty of other innovative features.
Apple better make the next iPhone notchless and show some real innovation.
I wouldn't call it hate. It’s actually ridiculous how much hate for Apple is on this forum.
It’s just like PC hardware in reality, a true Apple fan won’t be phased because regardless of decent hardware it can’t run iOS or macOS...
If you think it’s that great, buy one. Get the chip on your shoulder about the iPhone resolved. Join another forum.
Not happening!
Apple is now counting on ecosystem experience - they have already given up on radical iphone innovation
True, it was only until i owned a notch phone that i disliked it, it really is hard to notice. Probably same with hole punchOh come on. The complaining of the notch feels more like peer pressure than anything realistic. I've got the XR and the notch is completely unnoticeable in daily use. It really is not a problem like many make it out to be.
I'm optimistic in that Apple will innovate this year, but who knows. I think deep down, Apple has always known that Samsung is doing a great job, and has been taken aback by Samsung's innovation. The iPhone X was representative of a sliver of that innovation. Unfortunately, they thought the minor XS and XR would be enough to appease the masses instead of taking the lead on being the first with in-display fingerprint sensor and foldable displays.
Hope this changes Apple's mentality (assuming reviews are positive about how Samsung implemented these features) and Apple actually doesn't hold back this year. Though I am convinced that if they 'hold back innovation' with this year's release and next year... then Apple probably doesn't have the capacity.
If there was any company that should be able to respond to what Samsung just showed off, it would be Apple, which in either case.. is a total win for us consumers. Without this kind of pressure Samsung is putting on Apple, we (Apple consumers) would probably never know what true innovation is like and take our small upgrades year to year with maybe just a single new feature year to year.
The screen looks nice in ads, but it still has a bit of a chin and a navigation bar at the bottom that’s always there.
hmmm...I'm optimistic in that Apple will innovate this year, but who knows.
I thought this was MacRumors. Must have bookmarked the wrong site.
What do I do with my max?I'm not sure you're the target consumer for either handset maker. You prefer user-replaceable batteries.
Yes. To these people iPhone may be the best phone out there.(changing from popular to subjective best, because objectively there is no best)I have to agree I do not see Samsung outselling the iPhone. Apple sell way to many phones to everyday people that don't know tech and just go for the iPhone as it's popular.
So Samsung gives away $650 in credit while cheap Apple gives away a few hundred for an old phone? Wow.Just ordered the s10 on samsung.com and got free samsung buds (99 value) and 550 credit for trading in my old phone.
Animoji’s scratch the surface of what’s under the skin. Using my max (over $1000) I have fun with my kids (and grand kids). It seems a common misconception that Apple can do only one thing at a time (emojis or bug fixes for example). I assure you this is not the case.Apple need to stop dicking around and provide a product worth paying $1,000 for. Enough with the animojis. No one over the age of 13 gives a rat's behind about them. iPhone owners need more power, more basics, more use of iOS than what's currently offered. I expect the next iPhone to come with a minimum of 128 GB of storage at today's 64 GB of space. If Apple want to move more units and not lower prices, they need to get on board with offering more. As time passes by, storage and everything else will keep going up due to newer tech needed that kind of space.
Hell, if Apple offer hardware level HEVC decoding, that would be amazing. Especially if you could somehow bounce that video to your 4K+ TV through ATV or on its own since most SmartTVs can use peer wifi now.
Hardware HEVC on an iPhone would be amazing. I don't believe any other company can do that now. I'm sure Apple can.
Wait until Samsung gets your phone, finds some “flaws”, and only offers you $200 instead of the $550. They are known to pull that.Just ordered the s10 on samsung.com and got free samsung buds (99 value) and 550 credit for trading in my old phone.
Apple's policies on user data are much better IMO than Google's. Also much data stays on the phone rather than being sent to Apple. Google's business model is to monetise user data. Google hardware and services exist merely to further that aim.You could say the same about Apple?
It can't use anything else than apple music on the homepod? I cant get past the initial setup with spotify...
Giving away $650 with every phone makes the s10 appear to be a loss leader in exchange for market share.Wait until Samsung gets your phone, finds some “flaws”, and only offers you $200 instead of the $550. They are known to pull that.
