Another Samsung bloatware special. Now packing extra bloat. The fork is strong with this one.
What issue is caused by pre installed apps? This is one of these comments that get tossed around a lot by people with anti-Samsung sentiment. Or more generally, anti-Android OEM sentiment.

Really no different to the crap we get pre-installed on the iPhone too.
Well the one basic difference is that one can just remove Samsung "bloatware" from the homescreen(s) and disable it in settings. It's effectively gone and will only be a nibble out of 128GB of storage.

Edit : I have actually installed Samsung Internet on my Huawei as I find it better than other browsers. (Of the ones I have tried).

When was the last time you used an Android phone? It’s not been a crappy mess for quite a while now

Note 7... I'll have to revisit it and see if its better... I remember not being able to find a decent text messaging app to use. My messages would either not go through, I couldn't send a picture or a simple video... I went running back to imessage.

Apple and Google pushed Microsoft to be a better company, now Samsung is pushing Apple...

The dilemma many of us have!

Can’t buy it even if I wanted to because it’s OLED. Looks great hardware-wise, though. Love the design.

I hear you! That was by far the most difficult thing to "leave" behind when I started using Pixel phones and the one thing that kept me going back to iPhones in the first year of the Pixel line.

To be honest though once you start using Whatsapp you realise that it works just as well and is also cross platform so you get "free" messages with everyone not just your iOS mates.

The rest of the OS in my opinion is so much better that it easily makes up for the loss of iMessages. Buttery smooth operation, brilliant Google assistant, monthly security updates and more user options to personalise the app home screens etc.

The fact that the hardware is great too is just a bonus, class leading camera and brilliant wireless charger, all day battery life and a phone that is a joy to use for hundreds of dollars less. It's an absolute win win. I'm saying this and I've had every iPhone from the first one. Face ID was the first nail in the coffin for me as it is a real pain in my experience, the horribly buggy OS and being overtaken in terms of hardware innovation while hiking the price up was the final one...
Lol. I'm 42. My wife is 41. My father is 81 and mother is 71. My partners at work are in their 40's, 50's and 60's. Friends are all in their 40's.

They are all comfortable with the little iMessage enhancements to SMS and Ain't no What'sApp conversions going to happen here.

But if I were in my 20's or early 30's again, probably....

ok this has me tempted. 10+ 128GB version at £899 plus free Galaxy buds, and potentially even more off through device trade in's.

I like iOS and I'm somewhat a devotee of iCloud and iMessage but this is a serious deal.

Can Apple justify their prices against this?
Nope they can’t

Performance wise Samsung devices are just as good as IOS..and feature wise there is far more to choose from

Apple needs to add more features and lower prices and fast

Agreed. My Xs max is too expensive for what it does. The S10 and even the note 9 does much more and are worthy of their price tags. Apart from the ecosystem I’ve nothing to say about the Xs max.

Battery power share, so you can extremely inefficiently share power with a friend. Drain your battery 20% to give 5% to a friend! This is one of those impractical gimmicky features Samsung loves to throw into their phones - there always has to be one....

But what's wrong with that?? If i'm out with a friend and I don't want their phone to die and I have some battery to share if I want to what's wrong with that?? It's better than nothing. 5% might get them to bar close and home safely.

Samsung have their own version of iCloud. It pretty much works in the same way.

Here’s a video explaining it

True. That's the reason I sent back my XS Max in a week of owning it. It's basically a bigger iPhone X with a worse optimized resolution for Apps. It does nothing different than any iPhone from 2014 is doing, well besides being more expensive and "Gold".

The idea is more to charge accessories like the galaxy buds or the galaxy watch.

It's an "extremely inefficiently" feature because it's not an Apple feature, if it was on the next iPhone it would be the world wonder of features and innovation!

Besides with a 4100 battery it shouldn’t hurt too much

Hell if you use your say galaxy active to bed and it runs out in the day just charge your watch up or your buds up if you do gym after work

That is not a gimmick at all it’s a useful feature

I played with the S10e at the Samsung store and there is no doubt in my mind that this is what the XR should have been. The S10e still feels ultra premium, elegant, and high end despite being the "low tier" phone while the XR looks and feels like utter **** next to the iPhone X.

Yes it means devices like buds and watches that aren't themselves USB-C can all be charged via a single USB-C cable via the PowerShare phone. One adapter to carry (at most).

In contrast, the hassle now required to charge a custom puck charger Apple Watch, USB-C MacBook/iPad Pro, and lightning cable iPhone is a complete joke of an "ecosystem".

Who told you that? o_O

My knowledge of physics. o_O

Every single source on the planet with any knowledge of low current wireless charging. o_O

Ever wonder where that extra heat is coming from when you wireless charge your phone? That's energy that isn't ending up stored in your battery.... o_O

You can't convert electric current into a magnetic field and back without some pretty significant losses.

It's not a particularly efficient process. o_O

No, it's just inefficient because it is inefficient - simple as that. I don't think it's a particularly bad feature - I do like the idea of being able to top off earbuds in a pinch if needed. Marketing it as being able to share power with a friend is a little disingenuous because it won't work that well in implementation. A huge portion of that energy you're draining from your battery to 'give' to a friend will just be lost in the process as heat. You'll be draining 10% of your battery to give a friend 5%. (The ratio will probably be much worse, especially if you both have cases on your phone.)

Honestly, it's just an example of a feature that sounds great but won't work well in implementation and people will be disappointed by it (except for maybe topping off earbuds or a watch that don't take much energy to begin with).

I'm not a fan of low current wireless charging in general. It is just a really inefficient technology that leads to further waste of energy. I prefer things that increase efficiency. It also takes like 10x longer to wireless charge your phone vs using a fast charger...
