Same could be said for 64 bit processsors

You have zero idea what you're talking about.

64bit processor architectures double the number of registers on the CPU, providing an 8% to 15% performance boost in every task.

A lot of people seem to think it just lets the phone make use of more RAM but there's more to it than that.

I know plenty. I know that for now and for the near future - it's a marketing statement - nothing more

The Samsung Note Edge:

A solution desperately looking for a problem to solve.

You know... if Apple didn't exist, I might like some Samsung products. The watch looks okay, not sure if it's functional for day-to-day usage though. The Edge is intriguing but I'm skeptical much will be developed to take advantage so it will turn out to be a gimmick.

Apple just makes better software, hardware, and ties them together better. The ecosystem is better. Samsung certainly does some things well, but Apple is just on another level. So without Apple I'd probably have a bunch of decent junk but I'd always feel like I was missing something.

I will never go back to an iPhone after using the Galaxy S5 for the past six months. Unreal screen, unreal battery life and charging speeds, being water resistant, and the customization of Android. Plus, iOS is the same old same old. Capable yes, but totally boring.

How many virus scanners do you have installed on it? Please surprise me, if you don't find 3 out 10 fonts/Wallpapers/widgets you download don't have any grayware.

Or even a better question, how many apps has he installed that require:

* Cell access
* text access
* Call log access
* Map location access
* Geo fencing access

List goes on. I quit Android right away when 90% of all apps request all of the above. And you can't reject just a single item like you can on iOS. For instance, I don't want Facebook to have my location. Checkmark, done! In Android? Either I give them access to everything including recorded conversations or can't use apps.

Oh also ask him how many at&t, and "value added" apps are installed on his device? And how you have to go to settings and disable the apps (can't uninstall them); they still have components that run in the background. Anytime I hear "value added", I automatically think malware that needs to be uninstalled. Unfortunately, I can no longer separate Android from being exactly like an hp or dell computer. Clobbered with crap that you cannot uninstall unless you are really techy and find your own custom image/ROM that is clean of all the crap they include.

About that iPhone 5C for 87 cents (or rather 97 cents)...

And there are, according to the latest statistics, more high-end Android phones sold than high-end iOS phones.

Statistics are also showing that people want larger screens which leaves them no choice but to go with Android and sometimes Windows mobile since Apple doesn't offer a larger screen phone yet.

Or in most European countries where the carriers do not have the death grip on the cell phone market like they have in the US.

The last time I bought a subsidised phone that tied me to a contract with lots of limitations was in the early 2000s. I pay full price up front and choose whatever plan I prefer without being force-fed artificial restrictions or bloatware.

Subsidized phones do have a plus side too you know

- iPhones never have carrier bloatware pre-installed.
- If you are happy with your Carrier and do not plan to leave what's wrong with a contract? I've been with Verizon 8 years now.
- The option IS there to pay full price up front and cheaper monthly payments if you want. Tmobile, AT&T, Sprint and now Verizon offer that type of package.

Samsung really don't think any of their products through. Their board meetings must go like this:

Hey, what new and probably useless technologies can we put into a new phone?
Oh sir, there was that one with the screen on the edge of the phone.
Oh, cool, when can we have one of those made for?
I can have it designed by Sally from accounting this afternoon, if you want.
Great, we'll release it as the "next big thing" on Friday!
Quite a funny post given what apple have released the past few years

Why are you on macrumors? Your signature says it all, shouldn't you be on some samsungrumors.com website instead? I mean, obviously everyone here is a bit biased towards apple and you are clearly completely biased towards samsung. So what is the purpose of you bashing Apple on these forums?

I'm not biased at all I have respect for both companies but when somebody makes a comment like that who is clearly hating it needs to be replied to.

Apple will need something huge with the iPhone 6 and I hope they deliver

I just Googled that phone. Am I mistaken or does this phone not support LTE?

No it doesn't. It's junk. Not sure what that poster was trying to prove.

MotoX however is kind of cool, have it not be outdated, completely bloated with Motorola & AT&T crap (even the unlocked version). I would really consider it even over the iPhone and even over my hate for Google. I doubt I'd go with it, but felt really nice in the hand and perfect screen size, phone size, etc

Makes sense; Not sure those people ever really "get it" or realize anything.

Agree with the "better be huge" thing. I love Apple and will continue using Apple because I'm stuck in the ecosystem but also I really do use a lot of features and benefits of being with Apple. With Yosemite I'm going to enjoy them more–Answering calls on my mac is a huge deal for me. However, being as dedicated as I am to Apple, if the iphone 6 will be a "meh" announcement, then the mind does start to wonder. Purely out of boredom really; but that's the tech sector for you.

Note Edge looks kind of cool, but not sure how practical that really is. That's the "cool" factor just like the Amazon Fire phone. But when it comes down to usage, it's the basics that count.

As for Note/iphone 5.5 isn't that too big? Would you get rid of an iPad (or equivalent) if you got it? I'm always trying to figure out the audience. The few people I know that have note, love it! Not sure I'd be one of those people I guess.

It's all about getting used to the size. Not sure I would need much bigger. But it feels good in the hand and I'm used to the size which is why no matter how good the 4.7 iPhone is I couldn't consider it due to reduced size

Note Edge is an interesting design for sure.

But that presentation, ****ing HORRIBLE, especially that lady and her lame attempt at humor.

The Gear S looks improved from that POS they introduced last year.

And talk about gimmicky, that VR contraption was the lamest product introduced.

Roll on Sep 9!

i think the edge is a very idea just not for me. Like the metal look on the note 4 more IMO.

9th is going to be manic on here and at the stores.

Go try on out,I like it and wish Apple would use it on the iPad,after all they are not strangers to the stylus.

it's one of those things you may not use all the time but very useful when you do. saved me quite a few times when i've needed to note something down at work or passwords related.
