The amount of denial in this thread is astonishing.

I sit in a small office with around 10 people. Not one of the iPhone users (4s, 5, 5s) last half a day without having to charge their iPhone. I admit there are two with a Galaxy S4 and they sometime have to charge at the end of the day.

Im at 50% after around 2 hours of screen time, 14 hours off charge, by the time I get home... Note 3.

12 steps people.

It is astonishing. One day you will only find iPhone users here at macrumors.

Note 3 here too.

Because battery actually lasts compared to the iPhone and many other phones, this is one ad I actually agree with although in fairness I'm not a fanboi that hates Samsung as quite a few on this forum appear to be.

I'm not taking my iPhone back again, this is my 3rd iPhone since I took out my contract last year and I'm fed up of replacements. Maybe it is EE although I'm in central London with full signal so I doubt it's the service.
How much longer does it last?

I'm not a Samsung fanboy,

Coulda fooled me, with your rabid name calling.

Sending mixed messages? What are you smoking/what is wrong with your brain? Outlets in airport are more valued than just about everything other than food that's made quickly.

But you don't need them, if you have a Samsung device, remember?

But again, I don't expect a fanboy to understand something like that.

Yeah yeah, the old tired refrain: Anyone who disagrees with the awesome intellect in Samsung's advertising messages is automatically a fanboy, and since we can't get it through our heads how awesome Samsung is and how much Apple sucks, we're not worth arguing with. Yet here you are, on the "fanboy" site blithering away because you have an ego to stroke and no one else who'll listen.

Power saving mode is a bad way to save battery, it turns a smart phone into a dumb phone. What's the point? Plus, Samsung batteries will worsen after a few months. It may seem good at first but not for long while Apple batteries can usually last for 1 to 2 years. My iPhone 5's battery is still going strong after 2 years. Anyway, thanks for the power outlet! :apple:

No they don't.

I don't see Apple or iPhone mentioned anywhere.
How is this an attack on Apple when they are not even mentioned?

It seems very short sighted to me that Samsung has tried to poke fun at iPhone users, because are potential customers of their other samsung products!

If they want to make fun of me, do they really expect that me to buy a Samsung TV when I shop for one?

I'm not going to buy anything branded "Samsung".

Why are you taking it so seriously? Just buy whatever device you want and don't get caught up in marketing hype and flame wars.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, an iPad Air, an iPod touch and an Apple TV.

When Apple have their keynotes and make fun of Android, saying that devices run on years out of date software, or when Tim Cook compares Android to Europe (I am European) I don't take it personally.

Likewise I don't take Samsung's Apple bashing adverts seriously either.

Samsung continue to cater to what they believe are their biggest supporters: Apple haters. I don't think it's much of a generalisation to say that most people I know with a Samsung phone have pre-branded Apple users as being ignorant and stupid. I think that Samsung believe what will win them this war are the users preaching which side to pick.

However in the long run, I sincerely believe that Samsung will fall. Despite their revenue for advertising and manufacturing, there's now not much that puts them ahead of other Android OEMs, and they're not awfully cheaper than Apple phones either.

I really do think that when the larger screen iPhone comes out, there will be very, very few reasons for people to go Android. It will be Apple's turning point. Samsung are terrified, and I think this is reflected with their recent advertising.
Ahahaha we will see, we will see how good iFun Sex will be, but i am pretty sure, it will be a let dowb again
and sammy,will win;)

So basically Samsung's target market is fanboys and their goal is to entice flame wars in the comments sections on tech sites. If they were confident about sales of their own products (or not scared you know what less about a bigger iPhone) there would be no need for these ads. Though I'm not sure how these ads take market share from Xaiomi in China.

they are highlighting something they feel they are superior at. every mobile phone user who is unhappy with the battery life of their phone is a target. although the video ad is iphone centric this poster makes no mention of any particular company.

as far the bolded part thats akin to saying if apple was confident about the iphone then there wouldnt have been a need for the siri ads.

personally i thought the video ad went too far but the posters message was subtle and clever enough imo

Your use case.

My iPhones have all seen decreased battery life over time. As have my friends and families. It's a battery "issue" not an iPhone/Android issue.

As for your first comment in your post - again - YOUR use case perhaps. I stated a scenario earlier that makes the power saving mode very useful. FYI - I don't own the S5 - but at least I can see its usefulness

1) Your working all day and then have to get to the airport to fly out. No time to charge. No spare battery. Your phone is running low on juice. It might be risky to still make some business calls and then still have juice left when you land so you can call your friend, a cab, a car service, the hotel, etc if you need to. But at least if you have a power saving mode, you can extend that battery life.

2) Maybe you're a camper. You go away for a few days. Sure you want to use data a bit here and there - but more importantly - you want to know that you have this mode you can turn on so you can extend the life of your battery in case of an emergency.

Maybe not a majority use case - but that's not the point. The point really is - why knock a feature just because you wouldn't use it. They aren't charging more for it. It's yet another perk of owning that phone. And not having to carry around a 2nd "dumb" phone"

But maybe you've only lived in an age of smartphones...

Haha, so the outlets are real?

Won't the end result then be funny, since Android has the larger market share? Statistically that should make far more Android users (and many of them Samsung users in particular) flock around these ads than iPhone users. Unless iPhone has terrible battery life, but I definitely doubt that. Especially with the larger screens on e.g Samsung devices, which is the main factor in battery consumption, besides its operating system.

Lol...good point. By sheer probability, it will be more android users using the outlets than not.

If it were Apple's kiosks - there wouldn't be outlets. There would be proprietary cords extended from a base ensuring that only those with the latest hardware could use them ;)

If apple had outlets you can bet they'd look exactly like the Samsung ones cuz Samsung would have copied apples design

Frankly that ad does NOT move me a single bit.. using Apple happily and proudly.

Think I will have to find a hole to hide when using shamesung.

Bad math and an explanation that agrees with Samsung. I would not want you defending me.

Add a battery case to the Samsung and you're right back at the better battery life for the Samsung. You didn't think that one through did you?

So what we're calculating is battery life versus volume.

An iPhone 5S with a battery case, has the around same VOLUME as a Samsung Galaxy S5 with NO battery case.

iPhone 5S

An iPhone 5S has a volume of 55.18 cubic centimeters, with a 1500 mah battery.

With average usage it will last 335 minutes.

Galaxy S5

A Galaxy S5 has a volume of 83.39 cubic centimeters, with a 2100 mah battery.

With average usage it will last 355 minutes.

The S5 has 151% of the volume of an iPhone, with a battery 140% larger in capacity, and the S5 will last 5% longer with average usage, which is around the same battery life.

iPhone 5S with Battery Case

Will have a volume ranging from anywhere between 88 cubic centimeters to 300 cubic centimeters, and a power of anywhere between 1500+1300 mah to 1500+5000 mah.

Which means with average usage it will last 605 minutes to 1550 minutes.

At 605 minutes the iPhone will last nearly twice as long as nude Galaxy S5, while having the same size.

If you feel the need to compare a Galaxy S5 with a battery case against an iPhone with a similarly sized battery case, the S5 gets destroyed as well, because the S5 battery case will only double the battery life while nearly tripling the size, while the iPhone will have 5 times the battery life at that size.

Basically:

iPhone Nude vs Galaxy S5 Nude = iPhone 2/3rds as big, same battery life.
iPhone Ultra Thin Battery Case vs Galaxy S5 Nude = Same size, iPhone 2x battery life.
iPhone High Capacity Battery Case vs Galaxy S5 Thin Battery Case = Same size iPhone 2.5x battery life.

In every scenario the iPhone 5S will deliver way more battery life for a given volume.

Wow. You really don't get what I was referencing. Simply put, judging what you get straight out of the box, the S5 has better battery life. The variables of battery packs and whatnot are not relevant UNLESS the iPhone ships with an additional battery pack in the box. My comparison was iPhone v. GS5, not iPhone + accessory v. GS5. As far as I know, no credible comparison has ever been done the way you're doing it. It's always product v. product. Unless you know of some new style of comparison I'm not familiar with. What you're doing is looking for a win when there's nothing to win.

So what is Samsung's excuse going to be with the Samsung Galaxy Alpha with a 1850 MAh battery (based on engadgets post earlier this week)?

Not to mention, ultra power save mode allows you to not have to plug in to a wall socket but essentially limits the use of your phone to almost nothing which will benefit a person how? So they can make a call, send a text, basic internet browser actions? Watch a movie....nope. Maybe listen to music....maybe. Other options, not really.

It is a good thing that Apple isn't in the habit of calling out it's competitors in it's commercials or advertising (any more...referenceing Mac vs PC commercials from yrs ago). Otherwise I could see Apple throwing that back in Samsungs face when the Alpha is released.

Personally I have never used a power outlet in a public place as I deem it stealing. Samsung and I clearly don't see eye-eye when it comes to stealing, I guess.

Samsung Expands Anti-Apple 'Wall Huggers' Advertisement to Airports

I love these ads! Creative as hell and cleverly done. Stop your whining. No matter what people think about batteries, you can help but notice that giants Samsung sign. And that's what matters. Only people on forums of a certain product (such as here) are as tuned in to what's going on. To all others mortals who don't care what device they have, it's just a charger. And to Samsung, they're a potential customer.

EDIT: WOW, full of typos - not correcting them... Lol

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? The GS5 only has 5% more battery life (for normal use) despite having a much larger battery size. Comprehend?

Let's see which one of us comprehends. I said head to head the GS5 has more battery life than the iPhone. You said "The GS5 only has 5% more battery life..."

We both said the GS5 has more battery life. The conversation was never about how much more battery life. Nor was it about additional battery packs. Entering a thread without knowing the context and questioning the reading ability of the one of the participants is .

A strange comment, since the ad was all about NOT having to steal the airport's electricity, if you used that Samsung phone.

Moreover, Samsung provides free recharging stations in airports, which again helps prevent electric theft.

Would you rather that, instead of calling the non-Galaxy users "wallhuggers", the ad had called them "thieves"? Okay, that might be valid. But it would make for poor advertising, and a lot more fanboys with hurt feelings :)
